2006 FORD GT HERITAGE EDITION

Lot # 725.1 (Sale Order: 175 of 227)

The Ford GT was conceived and built as a road-going interpretation of the historic Ford GT40 race cars that proved Ford could triumph over its international competitors. The Heritage Edition series Ford GTs were hand-built to commemorate the winning Gulf Oil-liveried Ford MKL GT40 chassis No. 175 which took consecutive wins at Le Mans. One of just 343 cars built with stripes and roundels that set it apart from the standard production run this GT has 3348 actual miles (mileage not indicated on the title). Powering this modern tribute to Ford racing history is a supercharged 5.4-liter dual-overhead camshaft V8 engine. Capable of a 0-60 mph blast in just 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 205 mph the Ford GT has the performance to back up its Heritage Blue and orange color scheme that stands as one of the most iconic liveries in motorsports. With four camshafts and four valves per cylinder the aluminum block and head modular engine is factory-rated for 550hp at 6500 rpm and 500 ft/lbs of torque at 3750 rpm a considerable increase in power over the approximately 425hp engine that powered the two-time-winning GT40. The mid-mounted engine is backed by a Ricardo 6-speed manual transmission purpose engineered for the Ford GT program. The sport-oriented interior is centered by a pair of ventilated bucket seats for maximum control and comfort. The Ford GT commands the road on a set of factory-issue BBS one-piece aluminum-alloy wheels with Ford GT logo knock-off-style center caps equipped with Goodyear Eagle F1 ultra-high-performance compound tires.
