Lot # 2040 (Sale Order: 40 of 463)

Lot consists of 1904-1912 USMC Dress Hat and Tunic. This style of dress tunic and hat were worn by the United States Marine Corp from 1904-12 when they were heavily involved in the so called Banana Wars in Central and South America. The Marine Corps formed an expeditionary battalion to be permanently based in the Caribbean, which subsequently practiced landings in 1902 in preparation for a war with Germany over their siege in Venezuela. CONDITION: The tunic is in excellent condition retaining all original buttons and shows little signs of wear or fading. The hat has the original insignia with the Warnock, New York stencil.
