**Fine Colt New Frontier .22 Scout Kit Carson Prototype Commemorative Revolver, with Factory Letter

Lot # 301 (Sale Order: 278 of 508)      

Serial no. G211050. .22 long rifle caliber, 6-shot non-fluted cylinder, 6-inch barrel, the left and right side gold-etched and finished with Kit Carson motifs. Blue and case-hardened finish, with rampant colt and American eagle checkered hard rubber grips.
Condition: Fine. Scratching on top of barrel near barrel address, scattered surface patina on frame, needs cleaning.
Notes: 1,000 of the Kit Carson Commemorative were produced, in 1984. Revolver had been retained by the factory as sample and prototype.

Serial no. GX2265. .22 long rifle caliber, 6-shot fluted cylinder, 6-inch barrel with "Colt's Mfg. Co. Hartford Ct, U.S.A." on right side and model and caliber marking on left. Rampant colt on left side of frame (on sideplate). Blued finish. Checkered brown plastic grips with rampant colt logo molded within design. Three holes drilled in bottom curve of triggerguard. Two factory brown tags attached to triggerguard, stating (1) "22 LR., Enclosed Firg. Pin. Hammer altered to follow thru on firing pin. 5 misfires in 6 shots with Western Xpert Ammo. This type gun requires heavier mainspring. GX 22675 P 6-1-51." (2) "Model E 6[within circle] 22 LR GX 2265. Enclosed Firing Pin/Ser. GX2265-6-7-8,/Sight Notch in F.Pin Stop./JES 11/15/51."
Condition: Fine. Light wear. Factory tags worn. Mechanism needs adjustment.

Serial no. 058WY90. .45 Colt caliber, 6-shot non-fluted cylinder, 4 3/4-inch barrel. Gold-finished decoration on cylinder of "A Lasting Legacy" logo and State Seal, with gold-accented roll-marked script inscription on left side of barrel "1890 Wyoming Centennial 1990." Full Royal Blue finish. Varnished smooth select hardwood grips with gold-plated rampant colt Heritage medallion inlays. With factory brown cardboard box used in production process, with annotations one end for this model, and the other end for a seperate Custom Shop series.
Condition: Fine to excellent. Box soiled and frayed, with various notes and annotated taping at one end of lid. Other end includes marking written in ink "058WY90."
Notes: Revolver had been retained as a production sample and display Single Action Army.

Condition: Very good. 90% nickel, wear, scratches, scattered surface pitting. 90% varnish on grips, nicks and wear.

Serial no. 0032. .30 Luger caliber, 4 1/4-inch barrel, with "Cal .30 Luger" on breech. Left side of slide marked "Commander/Model" and "Automatic/9mm Luger" with "Colt" at center. Right side with "Colt's Mfg. Co. Hartford CT. U.S.A." Left rear of slide with machined area where a switch had been fitted, partly cut into serrations. Anodized aluminum alloy frame, the front drilled with five neat holes arranged vertically. Brown plastic grips, checkered, with relief molded rampant colt logos each panel. Magazine stamped at bottom "Colt/Cal 9mm Luger." In blue plastic safety box.
Condition: Very good to fine. Shows wear, handling and test marks.
Notes: Early production experimental and prototype pistol, retained by factory.

**Boxed Colt Experimental Prototype Revolver, with Coltalloy Aluminum Alloy D-Frame, Sideplate and B

Lot # 321 (Sale Order: 298 of 508)      

Serial no. 37LW (1950). .38 Special caliber, 6-shot fluted cylinder, 4-inch aluminum alloy barrel in-the-white with front sight band of steel. Barrel has slot on right side of barrel for conventional sight blade insert and attachment. Revolver without maker, address, model or caliber markings. Rampant colt logo on sideplate. Blued and anodized finish. Tag attached to triggerguard indicating "#37 LW" and "Replace w/ alum barrel." In blue plastic safety box.
Condition: Very good. Handling and test marks, wear. Missing frame screw securing crane.
Notes: Kept by factory as experimental prototype of aluminum barrel, and with low serial number from first manufacture.
Provenance: Colt Factory Archives Firearms Collection.
Narrative: Colt had experimented with the aluminum alloy barrel concept, as well as the aluminum frame, sideplate, and cylinder. Barrel and cylinder in aluminum was discarded, though some production was made with aluminum alloy cylinders in the U.S. government contract for the Aircrewman revolvers.
