Playboy Magazine March 1963 – Adrienne Moreau Playmate

This issue features Miss March 1963 Adrienne Moreau, and readers can both look at her stunning photos and learn a bit more about her and her love of New York, through her...more brief Playboy bio. Later in the year, Moreau would be joined by other 1963 Playmates like Sharon Cintron and Phyllis Sherwood. Still, this particular issue doesn’t just feature one Playmate pictorial, as it also contains an amazing pictorial announcing the three finalists for 1963 Playmate of the Year. You can gaze in awe at this series of incredible photos of Playmates Avis Kimble, Laura Young and eventual winner June Cochran, a true beauty who was first featured as Playmate of the Month in the December 1962 issue. In addition to the photos of beautiful women, this issue also contains a photo series on ’The Playboy Cars.’ This pictorial features images of some of the era’s most iconic cars, including the Maserati 3500, Corvette Stingray, Ferrari 250 GT 2+2 and Jaguar XK-E Coupe. This issue provides an insightful interview with famed British mathematician and philosopher Bertrand Russell. The issue also features a humorous piece by beloved author and illustrator Shel Silverstein entitled "Silverstein in Miami." This piece was part on an ongoing series the author wrote for the magazine, which was eventually published into a book called "Playboy’s Silverstein Around the World." This March 1963 issue also features other humorous pieces, including "Little Annie Fanny" by Harvey Kurtzman and Will Elder and Shepard Mead’s "How to Keep Your Wife in Love with You." As well, it features another edition of Playboy Party Jokes, which coincidentally, was also published as part of another book entitled "Big Little Book of Playboy Party Jokes." Still, Playboy isn’t just renowned for its humorous stories, art and nude photographs, as over the years the magazine has also published a range of fiction short stories from some of the world’s most respected authors. This particular issue features stories from P.G. Wodehouse and the story "Hung Jury" by Hoke Norris. However, the star of this issue is undoubtedly the renowned Graham Greene, whose story "Mortmain" is sure to delight fans of his. Considering the huge amount of engaging content contained within its pages, not to mention photos of not one, but four Playmates, it’s no wonder that this March 1963 issue can be treasured by both Playboy fans and collectors. A true piece of American history, this issue can be a perfect snapshot of all of the hallmarks that helped make Playboy magazine such a worldwide success. – Please see photos for condition of the cover
