Rare American Single-Shot Percussion Target Rifle by H.V. Perry, Jamestown, New York

Lot # 27      

.44 caliber, 26-inch heavy octagonal barrel with half-inch false muzzle having a coined edge and rare brass starter with plunger. Vacant front dovetail sight position. Barrel marked: H.V. Perry/Jamestown/N.Y./Cast Steel. Unmarked lock mechanism. Set-triggers. German silver fore-end and engraved patchbox. Varnished walnut stock with steel funiture. Wooden ramrod.
Condition: Good. Metal with grey-brown age patina and scattered light pitting. Wood with light wear, hairline cracks at front of fore-end and in front of lock, together with minor bruises. Action good.

No serial number. 58 caliber, 31-1/2-inch barrel with blued two leaf rear sight. Tulip head ramrod. Chrome bright polished steel throughout. Lockplate stamped US with eagle above AMOSKEAG Mfg. Co., MANCHESTER, N.H. 1863 on tail of lockplate. 1862 stamped on top flat next tonipple. Replicas of V, P and eagle head proof stamps on left flat. U.S. on top of buttplate. Satin finished walnut stock. New leather sling marked Watervliet Arsenal.
Condition: Excellent. As new. 95%+ metal finishes. Tool marks on upper barrel band. Very minor handling marks on wood.
