Early third model musket with 27 inch round barrel; 24 inch magazine; three barrel bands; accompanied with original bayonet; receiver is engraved with period engraving, unsure whether this is factory as Cody records do not show 1866 rifles before 150,000 SN; both side plates have full coverage scroll engraving; engraving is extended to both top and bottom of receiver down the top tang and on top of butt plate where it also has the number 65 engraved; wood is excellent with very light dings and mars for a gun of this age; manufactured in 1870; retains original target rear sight; the bore on this rifle retains most of the rifling with very light pitting; above average bore for an 1866; excellent example that appears to be original without alteration; SN#32346; antique, no FFL required
