ORIGINAL GERMAN STEYR MP40 SMG.

Lot # 1001 (Sale Order: 1 of 513)

Cal. 9mm. S# 5830e. Bbl. 9 9/10”. Hooded fixed blade front sight, rear sight is windage drift adj. 2 Piece folding leaf. Of all the German WWII era SMGs, the MP40 may be ...morethe most iconic of them all. Its slow cyclic rate combined w/ decent sights & pleasant ergonomics make it as fun to operate as it is interesting to look at. It utilizes a very simplistic, yet incredibly smooth open bolt firing mechanism. The recoil system is typical of German over engineering consisting of a 3 piece telescoping rod w/ a captured spring that doubles as the connection point for the firing pin which slides inside of the bolt. The safety mechanism is an extremely simple design which shares commonalties w/ other WWII era SMGs. It consists of a rearward notch that interfaces w/ the cocking handle holding the bolt to the rear. Manufactured in 1943 by Steyr-Daimler-Puch AG as designated by receiver code “bnz.43”. This MP40 utilizes a 3d generator mag. housing which includes the ribs for strength & square notch facing the shooter. It appears that there are a large amount of matching numbered components including bbl., trigger housing, stock, bolt, bbl. nut, front trunnion, front sights, etc. Waffenamts appear on multiple parts including rear receiver just above folding stock mechanism “WaA623”, front sight mechanism just forward of resting bar is also Eagle “623”, front of receiver tube just rear of bbl. nut Eagle w/ “WaA623”, which are correct Steyr stampings. Under folding stock, dark brown Bakelite grips & lower receiver cover. Original resting bar has been replaced. CONDITION: good bore w/extremely strong rifling. Original blued finish remains present w/ some areas thinning to light brown w/ traces of extremely gentle patina. Stock locks tight in both folding & extended positions. Grips appear in nice condition free of any obvious damage & Bakelite receiver has normal scratches w/ only slight indentation at rear above folding stock mechanism. Fire control mechanism appears to function correctly when cycled by hand. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT CURIO & RELIC REQUIRING BATF TRANSFER BEFORE TAKING POSSESSION. FULLY TRANSFERABLE. (03-1457/JZ). CLASS III. $20,000-30,000.

DWM MAXIM MG08 MG.

Lot # 1003 (Sale Order: 3 of 513)

Cal. 8mm. S# 46861. Bbl 30", marked “DWM”. On a Maxim original sled mt. This MG08 Maxim was mfg. by D.W.M. in Berlin in 1918. Items that correspond matching the original ...moreS# in some variation of 46861, including parts as they get smaller dropping numbers off to become shorter & fit the space including 46861, 6861, 861 & 61 consist of left side plate, top cover, bbl. jacket, sights, bolt linkage, feed block, cocking lever, trigger safety, trigger, scope mt. & possibly others that are less clearly visible. Bolt originally marked 318 w/ a deep strike through, renumbered to 3545 to match the linkage which also carries the 61 indicating that it was original. Items w/ different numbers include oil brush caps which curiously are stamped 16 which is a transposition of the original number. Fusee cover is unnumbered & painted indicating that it may not be original. The bolt linkage bears an odd variation of an otherwise popular German Imperial proof mark. This a former example at one time on loan to the Evergreen Space & Aviation Museum. CONDITION: while both oil caps are free, left side retention spring is absent. Several components of sled mt., serial number 3568, are also absent though all adjustment settings from screw drives to simple mechanical height adjustments move freely & it enjoys full adjustment. Rear mounting pin, while the right size for the receiver portion on the mt. is too lg. in dia. to pass through the receiver of the gun & properly lock it into place. Top mounting strap functions perfectly to retain a positive grip. Forward water drain below bbl. jacket is absent as well as the drain cock. Firing mechanism functions smoothly in all aspects. Side plates retain the majority of their original blued finish as well as all external firing mechanism components. As w/ many examples from the WWI era, there are several areas of patina that have also infiltrated the finish. Fusee cover carries a different green shade of paint that differs from all other finishes. Water jacket finish is thin w/ a very light patina scattered throughout though not very noticeable at any distance & also has 2 sm. dents on left side towards the muzzle. Right grip has vertical cracks though they don’t seem to compromise the functionality. Bore has unusually predominant rifling. This MG08 will make an amazing functional display highlight of any early 20th century firearms collection. (03-1426/JZ). THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT CURIO & RELIC REQUIRING BATF TRANSFER BEFORE TAKING POSSESSION. FULLY TRANSFERABLE. $15,000-20,000.

RARE KRUMMLAUF BBL. DEVICE W/ SIGHT & GRENADE

Lot # 1005 (Sale Order: 5 of 513)

LAUNCHER. Cal. 8mm. Bbl. 10.5. One of the German oddities of the late World War II period was the German’s attempt to fire a bullet around a corner; this attachment or th...moree StG 44 would act as a bbl. extension & changed the direction of the bullets flight, allowing the shooter to be outside of the direct fire area. Aiming was accomplished w/ the use of a prismatic sight similar to what one may imagine be used w/ a periscope. The nickname given to this device is “Krummlauf” which loosely means “Curved Bbl.” in German translated to English. There were several different degrees of curvature that were experimented w/ including 30 degree & 45 degree, but the former is the only one that ever saw realistic use. The tighter the curvature the shorter the lifespan of the bbl. would be due to the ridiculous friction that was necessary. The 30-degree bbl. had a lifespan somewhere around 300 rds. Once these were discovered & their intended purpose was verified, other countries including Russia & the United States, experimented w/ similar technology, none seeing full production. While the necessity certainly existed, the execution remained flawed but it did encourage future experimentation leading to several newer items, such as the Israeli Corner Shot, which allows the shooter to aim accurately w/o being as exposed to enemy fire. This example includes the grenade launcher attachment & the original prismatic sighting system. This model has the gas bleed control, allowing the user to customize the amount of pressure directed out of the bore, as well as the triangular blast shield to protect he optic from escaping gasses. While the extended bbl. length when utilizing this accessory is approximately 10.5”, the overall length including the grenade launcher is a bit over 20”. The bbl. is stamped “V. G. 13” at the 12 o’clock position just rear of the front sight. The front sight is a hooded post. Blued finish on all exposed metal surfaces w/ the exception of the prismatic sight which is painted green over what appears to be a black & red base coat. CONDITION: painted finish on prismatic sight is complete aside from sm. rubbed areas at some high points; the clarity of the glass & mirror combination is very clear & easy to use; the bbl. threads are fine & the grenade launcher spins off & on effortlessly; blued finish on bbl. is dark w/ a few areas of thinning; stamping on top of bbl. is deep & clear, though accompanied by several tiny dings between it & the front sight; the gas bleed assembly rotates w/ ease & locks open & close as intended; the bbl. attachment lock spins freely & hinges work correctly; the rifling is surprisingly well pronounced, w/ a shiny bore. (02-13639/JZ). NONGUN. $20,000-30,000.

FOLDING MADSEN M50 9MM SMG.

Lot # 1007 (Sale Order: 7 of 513)

Cal. 9mm. S# 44312. Bbl. 8”. There are very few SMGs as unusual as the Danish Madsen M50. It is an open bolt blowback operated, full auto only, variant that incorporates ...morea safety mechanism which must be engaged w/ the support hand in order to fire. A lever that protrudes to the rear of the mag. well has to be depressed during firing or the bolt cannot drop completely into battery & will not fire. The cyclic rate is on the slow side at approximately 500 rds. per minute. Black painted finish w/ folding shoulder stock that is wrapped in leather as an improvised cheek rest. The bbl. is supported via nut that is threaded from the front in a similar manner to the Uzi SMG, once the nut is removed the receiver of the M50 opens like a clam shell to reveal the internals. The safety is a sliding switch located above the trigger on the left side of the receiver. Sights are crude yet extremely effective, especially give the slow cyclic rate that also aids in controllability. Front sight unprotected blade, rear sight is simple peep welded to the rear of the receiver. Tan canvas sling attached to left side. MAGS: 1-32 rd. CONDITION: finish coverage is complete w/ some minor scratches as typically found in armory kept firearms. JRW SEMI-AUTO M60 GPMG.

Lot # 1012 (Sale Order: 14 of 513)

Cal. 308. S# 032. Bbl. 25” over flash hider. JRW SAR60 is arguably the most sought-after civilian variant of the iconic M60 GPMG work horse to ever hit the market, unfort...moreunately they were only mfg. in sm. numbers due to the untimely passing of the CEO John Weaver. The M60 replaced the 30 Cal. Browning Machine Gun, which had been a primary weapon for the U.S. Military for 40 years prior. The M60 had several advantages over the Browning, primarily portability & the quick-change bbl. The M60 has several functional characteristics that lead back to the German MG42 & FG42. It utilizes a top cover & 2 step shuttle feed mechanism for ease of loading, accessing & clearing. Outwardly, there isn’t anything to distinguish the JRW from an early original GPMG w/ the magic contained inside; while the original M60 fires from an open bolt, the JRW utilizes a closed bolt, ingenious striker fire mechanism that actually boasts a smooth trigger. Rearward of the flash hider is the original bipod retained between it & the front sight of the quick change bbl. mechanism. The removeable handguard has a sling swivel on the left side w/ the signature carry handle to its rear. The rear sight is a ladder style, adj. from 300-1,100 meters. The left side of the feed tray has a hanger for belt, box or bag. The fire control group is accessed on the left side & cycles between fire or safe. Below the receiver is the pin that interfaces w/ a traditional pintle mounting system. Rear stock has a sling swivel mounted on top. Receiver sections are parkerized & receiver markings on the bottom channel behind the pistol grip are as follows: “JRW SAR60 / EDGE WATER, FL. / CAL. .308 SER. NO. 032”. CONDITION: overall condition is very good plus; the finish is complete & even throughout all visible metal parts w/ only a very sm. area on the left side receiver channel below the top cover that shows some thinning; the top cover springs are tight & latching mechanism is positive; the bore is good & still retains heavy rifling; gas piston moves freely just utilizing gravitational forces; the trigger mechanism is surprisingly smooth & light especially if you’ve not experienced this particular build before; fire control mechanism appears to function correctly when cycled by hand. (20-892/JZ). MODERN. $8,000-12,000.

Lot # 1013 (Sale Order: 15 of 513)

Cal. 13x92TuF. S# 4997. This massive & powerful single shot rifle was designed to give the German soldiers in World War I a countermeasure to British & French tanks, whic...moreh at first could only be countered by Artillery fire & proved able to penetrate the relatively thin armor of the tanks of that period. Germany had developed an armor piercing bullet for the standard 7.92 rifle, but it was proved ineffective against tanks. The Mauser company began production of the T-Gewehr at Oderndorf in May 1918. The first examples were issued to anti tank detachments. The rifle was operated by a 2 man crew of a gunner & ammunition bearer, who were crossed trained on the use of the rifle. Cartridge had a muzzle velocity of 2,580 fps w/ a steel cored armor piercing bullet & was capable of penetrating 1” of armor at 100m. Bbl. 39”. Matching numbers throughout. Receiver marked on top w/ Mauser banner & “1918”, has crown proofs “G”, “K” on right side. Bbl. marked over chamber “13.01” & 3 crown “K” proofs. Tangent rear sight graduated to 500m. Inverted V front sight. Bolt has straight handle & dual opposed locking lugs at front & rear. Safety & firing mechanism similar to 98 Mauser action. Hardwood stock. Stock has steel takedown hole on left side below rear edge of receiver ring. Buttstock has 2 piece construction similar to Japanese rifles. Has vertical wooden pistol grip. Stock marked on belly w/ crown “K” & “W” proofs. Stock is made w/out buttplate. Bbl. band has attachment for bipod. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: bipod issued from these rifles is the same as MG08/15 Machine Gun. Bipod is marked on left leg “M?”. Metal has turned overall gray & patina w/ areas of peppery oxidation. Worn bore turning dark in grooves & very fine pitting throughout. Lot # 1014 (Sale Order: 16 of 513)

RIFLE. Cal. 50 BMG. S# 2T9305. Bbl. 36”. The original .55” MKI antitank rifle was developed in 1930 in Britain w/ one of the lead designers being Capt. Boys. The original...more code name for this rifle was “Stanchion” & because Capt. Boys passed shortly after development had been wrapped up, it was given his name out of respect. It is a top mounted mag. fed bolt action rifle designed w/ a heavy muzzle brake & recoiling bbl. used in conjunction w/ a heavily padded buttplate in an attempt to tame the massive forces while firing. This particular example marked on the left side receiver “US GOVT PROPERTY / R. B. MKI / INGLIS 1948” has been rechambered in the popular, still powerful, US 50 BMG (12.7x99). While this example utilizes an aftermarket muzzle device measuring 3.5x2x0.75, attached via an unknown left handed thread, it still retains the factory adj. heavy-duty bipod & rear pistol grip for added control. Bipod is micro adj. by turning w/ the support hand so the control hand never has to leave the action. Front sight is a hooded post w/ a rear peep sight. Overall length is 64”. Shoulder piece still retains original oil brush. MAGS: 1-5 rd. metal. CONDITION: most exposed metal surfaces enjoy a combination of bluing & or parkerizing; bbl., chamber & muzzle area both unfinished, receiver covered w/ a light patina that appears to have been brought under control long ago, shoulder pad remains firmly in place w/ leather torn at top, having succumb to dry rot, exposing the pad, bipod functions effortlessly, bore is bright w/ extremely strong rifling, fire control mechanism appears to function correctly when cycled by hand. Cal. 9mm. S# 1564. Bbl. 10”. Smith & Wesson began its journey in the light rifle business in 1939 when they were contacted by the British Gov't. searching for a light wei...moreght military carbine. A very short blowback operated open bolt system was chambered in 9mm Luger which was already common in the British arsenal & prototypes submitted for consideration.
