Hi, my name is Kamillia LeBlanc, but people call me "Kami". I am 15 and a freshman at Apple Springs ISD. Other than being a proud member of 4-H and FFA, I play softball and volleyball. You will also find me horseback at youth rodeos at least twice a month. I serve as Vice President for Kennard 4-H and President for Pineywoods 4-H Horse Club. I have served as a Houston County Fair Ambassador for two years now and let me say, I love my duty. Within five years of showing, I have shown all over the state; from the majors, jackpots, and then two local county fairs. This year I chose my steer, Milo, as my project to raise. I purchased him this past summer from a ranch right here in Houston County who loves to support our youth. He has taught me so much in the past year. When I got him he did not like me as much as I did him. All he wanted to do was eat, but who doesn't love eating? Within the first month we had created a strong bond, and I wanted to spend every minute I had with him. Milo has taught me what having a true friend is, even though, he really only cares about food. The money I earn from Milo will be used to support my future projects and future college funds. I appreciate your consideration in purchasing Milo or adding on to my project. My name is Kyria Noble and I am 13 years old. Currently I am in the 7th grade at Latexo ISD and a member of Crockett Leo's Club. My passion is working with animals, and volunteering at church plus various community projects, including The East Texas Food Bank. This is my second year to show animals. Last year, I started with a pig named "Millie" placing first in my class followed by achieving Reserve Grand Champion. This is my second year to show steers. My steers name is "Aspen"  He has been a challenge but through hard work and Jack pot shows, he has become a gentle giant. I have tried to combine my passion for animals and match it with a solid work ethic in order to obtain qualities that will carry me through life. My plan was to show "Aspen" at Houston. Hello, my name is Olyvia Gilmore, I am a Junior at Kennard ISD.  And THANK YOU for showing interest in my market project for this year. 

I am an officer of the Kennard FFA. When I'm at school I play volleyball, softball and a part of agriculture classes. When I'm not at school I am either with my steer, livestock judging or doing stuff for the FFA quiz team. I've been showing cattle since the 3rd grade. From that point on I have fallen in love with it all.  My project for this year is a Brangus steer. He was purchased from a local ranch here in Houston County. 

His name is Big Boy and his hobby is to eat and eating he does. He weighs 1424 pounds as of March 28th of this year and he is 16 months old. I can tell you he is one to remember because he has been one of the most laid back steers and is very smart. He is a very quick learner because everything I have ever shown him he has picked up super quick.

My goals after high school are to attend SFA with Animal Science as my major. All proceeds from this steer is going toward my senior project for majors.  And again Thank You for your help.

My name is Laney Smith of the Kennard 4-H Club. I am 10 years old and this is my 2nd year to show steers. This year for fair, I would have shown "Flint". I purchased Flint in April of 2019 and he has been the "Go-To" guy for all things show steer. He has been easy going, laid back, and an all-round cool dude. I have learned so much from him this year and he gave me tons of confidence in working with the steers at home as well as in the show ring. We were able to make several Jackpot shows and Major Shows across Texas, but I am sad that I won't get to show him one last time. I absolutely love Fair Time! No matter what though, "Good Ol' Flint" will always hold a special place in heart. Please consider purchasing or adding on to my project. Hi my name is Ethan LeBlanc and I am 11 years old. This is my third year to be a member of Kennard 4-H and Pineywoods 4-H Horse Club. I am a fifth grader in Apple Springs ISD. I have shown animals in all three of my years with 4-H and this is my second steer project. I purchased my steer, Ruger, this past summer from a local Houston County Ranch where I was helping my dad bale hay. Ruger and I have not always had the easiest relationship but he has taught me a lot about patience and never giving up, (he can be a little stubborn at times). I would appreciate your consideration in purchasing or adding on to my project. I was really looking forward to showing him and our hard work off at the Houston County Fair. Any money that I make from Ruger will be used for future projects, helping my cattle herd grow, and college savings. When I'm not working with my projects or helping on our farm, I enjoy baseball, fishing, and participating in youth rodeos. Hello, I am Coy Smith of Kennard 4-H. I am 12 years old and this is my 4th year to show steers. I purchased "Ducky" on April 13, 2019 - the day the tornados hit. Let me tell you, it has been a whirlwind of a show year ever since. Of all the steers that I have shown, Ducky has been my favorite. He loves to be scratched and follows you around like a puppy dog. He can be stubborn at times, but Ducky has given me confidence in myself and in the show ring. He and I made the perfect team. I was fortunate enough to show Ducky at several Jackpots shows and Major Shows across the state. Even though we made those shows, County Fair is still my favorite and I am saddened to not show him at this year's fair. Whatever I earn thru the auction, I plan to use for next year's show steers as well as college. Whatever I have learned from Ducky, I will carry for the rest of my life.

Hello,
My name is Taniah Johnson. I am a second year member of Lovelady 4-H & this will be my second year showing fryer rabbits in the county fair. My rabbits were purchased for $220 in early March weighing 2.5 pounds. In order to show, my rabbits needed to weigh 3-5 pounds. I feed & watered them daily to get their weight up. Their weight gain health was monitored weekly to ensure they were doing  well. Also at this time I had to scoop their poop every other day so their area wouldn't get messy, especially if it rained. The hardest part about showing rabbits is taming them down & slaughtering them.  If a rabbit is tame it makes it easier to examine & weigh them. Other than that, I really enjoy working with rabbits.

This is my first year raising fryer rabbits, and I have had a great experience. Rabbits are very cute animals and compared to broiler chickens, they have been very easy to raise.  They do not need a lot of maintenance, but I did have to make sure I kept their cages clean, water and foods filled so that they would gain enough weight. As a plus, I have been able to use their poop in our family garden this year as fertilizer!

I have been waiting a long time to be old enough to join 4H and to raise/show animals. My momma raised show animals when she was in school and so did my brother. Raising animals has taught me responsibility, patience, leadership/communication skills and heartache. I had 1 of my rabbits die because I left the cage open while I was getting hay and one jumped out and my dog got it. While I wanted to blame my dog and get mad at her, I had to accept that it was my responsibility that caused my rabbit to die. 

While I am very sad that the show has been canceled, I am so thankful that I am able to participate in an online auction thanks to our HCF board. With this experience just about over, I am looking forward to next year.
