Pair of presentation Colt model 1851 Navy revolvers housed in their original pommel holsters presented to Colonel David Henry Williams of the 31st/82nd Pennsylvania Infantry on October 22nd, 1861. Presentation Colt model 1851 Navy revolver presented to Captain Joseph Ellis of the 19th/72nd Pennsylvania Infantry. Colt 2nd model Dragoon revolver. Colt 3rd model Dragoon revolver. Brass Frame .44 Caliber 1860 Henry Repeating Rifle--Serial #1109

Brass Frame 1860 Henry repeating lever action rifle bearing the serial #1109 (all matching serial numbers including screws of buttplate and tang attachment to stock) in .44 caliber rimfire. Rifle presents 24.25" octagonal barrel that has integral magazine beneath. Rifle sites are a 900-yard ladder rear site and rounded German silver bladed front site. Top of barrel presents two-line stamping "HENRY'S PATENT OCT. 16, 1860 MANUFACT'D BY THE NEW HAVEN ARMS CO. NEW HAVEN CT.". Serial number indicates that this rifle was manufactured in 1862. Rifle exhibits much of it's bright original finish and a beautiful butterscotch toning to the brass receiver frame and buttplate. Gun would rate fine to excellent in NRA antique firearms standards. Wood surfaces exhibit some minor/small digs and scuffs with left side of brass receiver exhibiting a wear channel measuring approx. 10mm. Rifle exhibits fine bore. Rifle accompanied by books related to the Henry rifle including"The Historic Henry Rifle: Oliver Winchester's Famous Civil War Repeater" by Wiley Sword in paper wraps, 103pp, 2006 and"The Story of Benjamin Tyler Henry and His Famed Repeating Rifle" by Les Quick, 239pp, 2008. Model 1886 Winchester Repeating Rifle

Model 1886 Winchester repeating lever action rifle bearing the serial #80736 (all matching serial numbers) in 45-90 caliber centerfire. Rifle presents 26" octagonal barrel that has integral magazine beneath and crescent buttplate. Rifle sites are a buckhorn style rear sight and rounded iron front sight. Top of barrel present two-line stamping "MANUFACTURED BY THE WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. NEW HAVEN CONN, USA". with top tang stamped"MODEL 1886" and bottom tang stamped"PAT OCT 14, 1884, JAN 20, 1885". Serial number indicates that this rifle was manufactured in 1893. Rifle exhibits much of its original bluing and case hardening with some areas exhibiting mottled and plum toning. Top tang exhibits some extremely light surface rust/oxidation. Gun would rate fine to excellent in NRA antique firearms standards. Wood surfaces exhibit some minor/small digs, particularly near butt as well as a small wood chip with loss on forestock near nosecap. Rifle exhibits good bore. The cylinder is engraved with the Texas Ranger and Indian battle scene and "MODEL U.S.M.R." and "COLT'S PATENT". Serial number indicates that this pistol was manufactured in 1860. Pair of presentation Colt Model 1851 Navy revolvers bearing the serial #'s 114876 and 114903 (both with matching serial numbers) in .36 caliber percussion. Pistols present 7.5" octagonal barrels. Top of barrels present one-line stamping"ADDRESS SAML COLT, NEW-YORK CITY US AMERICA". with left side of frame stamped "COLTS/PATENT in two lines. The cylinders are stamped"COLTS PATENT No" followed by serial numbers and are engraved with a scene of a naval engagement. Serial numbers indicate that these pistols were manufactured in 1861.Engraved on the backstraps of both pistols is"TO COL. D.H. WILLIAMS by his Phila FRIENDS OCT 22nd 1861". Pistols exhibit a significant amount of their original bluing and case hardening. Pistol serial #114876 exhibits some extremely minor abrasions and digs to wood grips with small chip to wood at butt. Brass exhibits toning with some red oxidized areas. Butt brass exhibits some small dents and scratches. Cylinder exhibits some darkening to metal and small dent on front of cylinder. Frame exhibits some slight digs and abrasions. Pistol serial #114903 exhibits some extremely minor abrasions and digs to wood grips with small chip to wood at butt. Brass exhibits toning. Butt brass exhibits some small dents and scratches. Frame exhibits some slight digs and abrasions with small dent at muzzle of barrel. Guns would rate very good to fine in NRA antique firearms standards. Pistols are housed in a set of original pommel holsters that exhibit some dryness to leather and flaking at flap hinge areas. David Henry Williams (1819-1891) was a railway surveyor, civil engineer and writer in civilian life. He served as a soldier in the US-Mexican War (1846-8) and in 1861 he was appointed Colonel of the 31st Pennsylvania Infantry. As many regiments were then enlisting, Pennsylvania had regular and reserve regiments. The 2nd Pennsylvania Reserves was designated the 31st Pennsylvania resulting in Williams' regiment to be re-designated the 82nd Pennsylvania Infantry regiment. Leading this regiment in 1862 Williams and his men were heavily engaged during the Peninsular Campaign as well as the battles of Seven Pines, Malvern Hill and other battles. For his actions Williams was appointed a brigadier general on November 29, 1862, however this appointment was never confirmed by Congress and expired before it could be voted upon. In early 1863 David Williams resigned from the army and returned to his home near Pittsburg. These pistols were presented to Williams the day before his regiment was presented their flags that they would carry into battle. Pistols and holsters are accompanied by extensive research. Presentation Colt Model 1851 Navy Revolver Presented to Captain Joseph Ellis of the 19th/72nd

Presentation Colt Model 1851 Navy revolver bearing the serial #98257 (matching serial numbers) in .36 caliber percussion. Pistol presents a 7.5" octagonal barrel. Frame, backstrap, barrel and guard are extensively engraved by Gustave Young. Top of barrel present one-line stamping"ADDRESS SAML COLT, HARTFORD CT". with left side of frame engraved "COLTS/PATENT in two lines. The cylinder is stamped"COLTS PATENT No" followed by serial number and is engraved with a scene of a naval engagement. Serial number indicate that the pistol was manufactured in 1861. Engraved on the backstrap of the pistol is"CAPT JOSEPH ELLIS Co.D, 2nd REGT INFANTRY, 1st BRIGADE, 1st DIV. P.V.". Pistols exhibit a significant amount of its original bluing and case hardening. Pistol exhibits some extremely minor abrasions and digs to wood grips. Brass exhibits toning and loss/wear to over nickeling. Cylinder scene exhibits some wear. Gun would rate fine+ in NRA antique firearms standards. John Ellis enlisted in the 19th Pennsylvania Infantry on May 18, 1861 and was mustered in as a captain of Company D and was discharged on August 29, 1861. Ellis would enlist in the 72nd Pennsylvania Infantry on September 18, 1861 and be mustered in as a Captain on October 31, 1861. He would later resign and be discharged on October 27, 1862. Pistol is accompanied by a binder with extensive research on Ellis. The engraver Gustave Young (1827?1895) emigrated to New York from Germany in 1846. In 1852 he began engraving for the Colt Company in Hartford, Connecticut. His career lasted until shortly before his death. He was considered one of the preeminent engravers of firearms in the United States in the 19th century and worked for numerous firearms companies.

Pistol exhibits much of its bluing and case hardening with fine toning to brass. Pistol exhibits extremely light abrasions to wood grips and some wear to varnish at butt. Top of barrel present one-line stamping"ADDRESS COL. SAM COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA". with left side of frame stamped "COLTS/PATENT in two lines. The cylinder is stamped"COLTS PATENT No" followed by serial number and is engraved with a stagecoach robbery scene. Serial number indicates that the pistol was manufactured in 1873. Pistol exhibits almost all of its bluing and case hardening and retains much of its silver plating on the trigger guard and backstrap. Trigger guard silvering exhibits some slight loss. Pistol housed in original case containing a near mint Dixon & Sons powder flask, bullet mold, cleaning rod, L-shaped gun tool, cap box and extra nipples.
