Lot # 334 (Sale Order: 4 of 413)

Extremely scarce, antique Colt, Model 1877, SN 34040, a.k.a. The Lightning. This is a very scarce 2” barrel, .38 caliber, 6-shot Revolver with nickel finish and checkered...more ivory stocks. This Revolver will come with a Colt Archive Letter that confirms .38 caliber, 2” barrel, nickel finish with rubber stocks and shipped to J.P. Moore’s in New York on March 3, 1882 in a three gun shipment. The serial number matches on the frame, trigger guard and backstrap. There is no barrel address due to the limited amount of space on the 2” barrel. The clearly readable etched panel reads “COLT D.A. 38”. There is a high percentage of original nickel finish remaining throughout this revolver. The checkered ivory grips fit perfectly but may not be as old as the revolver. The action functions properly and the bore is good. This Colt is accompanied by a small Holster with border tooling and stamped pattern on the front and top of the strap. There are stitches and edge lining missing in a few places.
