***Auction Highlight*** 1910-S ST-Gaudens Double Eagle $20 Gold Graded ms66 By SEGS (fc)

Lot # 143 (Sale Order: 101 of 583)

***Auction Highlight*** 1910-S ST-Gaudens Double Eagle $20 Gold Graded ms66 By SEGS. Up for Auction is a Superb Gem+ Example of the 1910-s $20 Saint Gardens Gold D...moreouble Eagle. Near TOP POP, Tied for 10th finest known. The 1910-S Saint-Gaudens double eagle was well-represented in some Central American hoards that surfaced in the 1980s. As a result, the issue is not difficult to locate in grades up to the MS65 level, but finer coins are rare. This sharply detailed Gem exhibits well-preserved orange-gold surfaces, with vibrant mint luster and outstanding eye appeal. I have included an ms66 for your comparison and an ms66+. Please notice all the ticks on the obverse and reverse of the PCGS 66+. I think ours is its equal. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation

*HIGHLIGHT OF THE YEAR* 1805 Small 5 C-3 R-4 Near TOP POP! Draped Bust 1/2c au55+ SEGS (fc)

Lot # 144 (Sale Order: 102 of 583)

***Auction Highlight*** 1805 Small 5 C-3 R-4 Near TOP POP! Draped Bust Half Cent 1/2c Graded au55+ By SEGS. HIGHLIGHT OF THE YEAR – Up for Auction is one of the Ra...morerest Half Cents we have ever offered, an 1805, Small 5 with Stems. There are only 30-75 estimated in all grades and None have ever graded mint State. The Lone au58 sold in a Goldberg Auction in January of 2014 for $71,875. It is the Lone Finest Known. I have included a picture of that coin. I think if you compare it to ours, you can see why, ours is clearly the lone 2nd finest known. The next surviving example is a lone au53, a lone au50 and a lone xf45, none of which has ever come to auction. The Vast Majority of the surviving examples Grade between ag and Fine, with only 13 coins known above Fine. The example at hand has the Tell-Tale Bulge on the Right Obverse, identifying it as the LDS Manley Die State 2.0, the same as the finest known example. A very pleasing example of a superbly difficult coin in higher grades. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation

***Auction Highlight*** J Gault Encased Postage EP-32, The Currency to Pass AYER’S Cathartic PILLS,

Lot # 150 (Sale Order: 108 of 583)

***Auction Highlight*** J Gault Encased Postage EP-32, The Currency to Pass AYER’S Cathartic PILLS, Graded vf30 By SEGS. Up for Auction is One of The Civil War’s F...moreoremost Rarities, The “Encased Postage” coin. While not Technically a Coin, a Note or a Stamp, John Gault’s Encased Postage was king of currency For a Brief Year in 1862. When The Civil war Broke out in 1861, all of the “Hard Currency” quickly Disappeared. But people still needed to purchase a 3¢ loaf of bread, a 1¢ newspaper, a 5¢ quart of milk and countless other goods that required coins. And vendors had to make change when an item’s price was less than a nickel, a dime or a quarter. In some cities, businesses gave customers I.O.Us, private companies created “Civil War tokens” and paper money was cut into several pieces to represent a fraction of a dollar. Clever remedies for sure, but none that were widely used or accepted. All of this radically changed on July 17, 1862, when Congress decided to address the coinage shortage and passed a law that allowed postage stamps to satisfy debts of less than $5. People began to carry stamps in their purses and pockets and used them repeatedly for daily purchases. Vendors gladly accepted the stamps as payment. But all of this hand-to-hand usage quickly resulted in damaged stamps with denominations sometimes unrecognizable. The local post offices would not exchange damaged stamps for new ones, so a remedy was needed. John Gault, a New York entrepreneur, decided he had the best solution. On August 12, 1862, Gault obtained a patent for a “postage stamp case”, or as he named the item in a newspaper advertisement, the “New Metallic Currency. Gault didn’t sell the encased stamps to the public. Instead, he sold them to stores and businesses that needed “coinage” to make change for customers’ purchases. Gault’s profit came from the 20% markup over the face value of the stamp. To increase his potential profit, Gault’s second idea was to inscribe advertising on the back of the encased stamp. He would charge companies who purchased the metallic currency an additional 2¢ for each item. Encased stamps were widely accepted in the general commerce realm until later in 1862 when the government issued “fractional currency”. This legitimate, government-sanctioned currency quickly eliminated the coin shortage. Having no other value than the stamp, people tore apart the encasements of their metallic currency to remove the stamp to use as postage. Thus the scarcity of the 1862 encased stamps today. The Example being offered today is EP-32, The Currency to Pass AYER’S Cathartic PILLS, 3 cent Pink Washington Stamp. The case has nice patina and is in great shape, he mica is intact with a bit of caring and one small crack, but all there, and the stamp is intact but a bit faded. Up for Auction is an Incredibly Rare and Highly sought 1803 Large Dated Large ...moreFraction 1c Sheldon 265 s-265. A must have die pairing for the large cent variety collector, Sheldon-265 is the only marriage that corresponds to the Large Date, Large Fraction Guide Book listing for the date. Examples are scarce and the variety is challenging to find in high grades, with no Mint State examples in either the Bland or 2015 Noyes census listings. The example at hand has terrific detail throughout. Pleasing color and smooth planchet with just a touch of granularity. Far and away the finest 1803 S-265 we have ever been able to bring to auction. I wish you great luck as I anticipate fierce bidding. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation

Proof *HIGHLIGHT OF ENTIRE ACUITION* 1904 Liberty Nickel 5c Graded pr66+ CAM By SEGS (fc)

Lot # 152 (Sale Order: 110 of 583)

***Auction Highlight*** 1904 Liberty Nickel 5c Graded pr66+ CAM By SEGS. HIGHLIGHT OF THE ENTIRE AUCTION - Up for Auction is an Incredibly rare Cameo Post 1902 Pro...moreof Liberty Nickel. 1904 PROOF CAMEO GEM Plus Example. The Philadelphia Mint adopted an all-brilliant finish for proof coins in 1902, making cameo contrast rare for proof issues in subsequent years. This spectacular Premium Gem displays sharply detailed design elements with unusually frosty devices that contrast boldly with the deeply mirrored fields. To Date Between PCGS, SEGS and NGC only 20 Coins have ever been designated Cameo of over 500 certified 1904 Proof Liberty Nickels. And of that 20 a mere 5 Have been graded above ms66. This superb ms66+ Came example is among the finest known and is Another grand opportunity for an advanced Liberty nickel aficionado. Pale rose-gold and champagne iridescence engages the softly frosted motifs and deeply mirrored fields. A wonderful coin. I am including 3 other Cameo examples for your comparison. Please note the less than usual contrast. On most post 1902 Liberty Nickels the devices are satiny, rather than frosted, and deliver the slightly muted contrast that is characteristic of Cameos from this period. ***Auction Highlight*** 1917-d Reverse Walking Liberty Half Dollar 50c Graded GEM Unc By USCG (fc)

Lot # 155 (Sale Order: 113 of 583)

***Auction Highlight*** 1917-d Reverse Walking Liberty Half Dollar 50c Graded GEM Unc By USCG. The combination of artistic excellence in the designs and a numismat...moreic challenge in the date and mintmark set draws a significant number of collectors to pursue the dime, quarter, and half dollar series designed by Adolph Weinman and Hermon MacNeil, each debuting in 1916. As a result, dates that would typically be considered only "slightly better" are, in practice, conditionally rare, as the collector demand far outweighs the supply of high-grade coins. In the Walking Liberty half dollar series, the 1917-D is one of these issues. It was produced with the mintmark on both the obverse and later the reverse. Despite having a significantly higher mintage (nearly 2 million coins), the Reverse Mintmark variant is actually scarcer in high grade. The issue is scarce in MS65 and rare finer. This Gem example displays frosty satin like luster and lovely preservation. Pleasing detail appears in the centers. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation

Lot # 158 (Sale Order: 116 of 583)

***Auction Highlight*** 1934-d vam 3 Hot 50 DDO TOP POP! Peace Dollar $1 Graded ms66+ By SEGS. HIGHLIGHT OF THE NIGHT - Up for Auction is a TOP POP, Tied for Fines...moret Known in the Variety and within 1 point of the Finest known in the date. This is the 1934-d TOP 50 DDR. The Finest Certified example at all the major services is an ms66+. On this wild variety it has the largest shifted Double Die in the entire Peace and Morgan Series, bar none. The Variety has been listed in the Guide Book for several years with a sizeable premium. The Medium D mintmark distinguishes VAM-3 from VAM-4, which has a Small D. Of course, any MS66+ 1934-D dollar is desirable, since the typical certified representative of the low mintage issue grades only MS63. Precisely struck and lustrous with virtually no toning. Both the Obverse and reverse is essentially immaculate. But for the Minor Mint Error, as made Rim notch, this coin would be tied for finest known at ms67+. *HIGHLIGHT OF THE NIGHT* 1882-cc Gold Liberty Double Eagle $20 Graded ms62 details By SEGS (fc)

Lot # 159 (Sale Order: 117 of 583)

***Auction Highlight*** 1882-cc Gold Liberty Double Eagle $20 Graded ms62 details By SEGS. HIGHLIGHT OF THE NIGHT - Up for Auction is a very scarce Carson City Dou...moreble Eagle, the 1882-cc $20 Liberty Head Double Eagle, Variety 1-B. Only 39,140 Liberty double eagles were struck at the Carson City Mint in 1882, a small production total in absolute terms, but just about average in the context of the series, which is known for its low mintages. In fact, no twenty dollar coins were struck at Carson City in the previous two years. Still, the 1882-CC is definitely elusive in MS62 condition, and finer coins are virtually unobtainable. The present coin is a pleasing MS62 details representative, with nicely detailed design elements throughout. Some Light hairlines account for the details grade. A thin die crack runs through the tops of the letters in most of the reverse legend, and a vertical spike is evident in front of Liberty's eye. The vivid orange-gold surfaces are fairly marked for the grade and mint luster remains in the protected areas. A scarce coin in uncirculated condition. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation

Proof ***Auction Highlight*** 1873 Arrows @ date Seated Liberty Quarter 25c Graded pr66+ cam By SEGS

Lot # 160 (Sale Order: 118 of 583)

***Auction Highlight*** 1873 Arrows @ date Seated Liberty Quarter 25c Graded pr66+ cam By SEGS. 0 Up for Auction is a Spectacular and immaculate PR66+ Cameo 1873 Wit...moreh Arrows Seated Liberty Quarter Proof. The 1873 No Arrows quarters proofs were of the Closed 3 style, but the Arrows design, coming later in the year, also showed the updated Open 3 style with the 3 less resembling a final 8. The year 1873 was probably that which saw the most sweeping changes ever in U.S. coinage, called by many the "Crime of '73." The new regime included elimination of the two cent, silver half dime and trime, and Seated dollar denominations, introduction of the Trade dollar, and the slight weight increase of all remaining silver coinage denominations under a dollar to even metric weights -- a stupid disproportionality that ensured the new Trade dollars would not circulate domestically, being overvalued by almost 9% compared to two silver half dollars.Walter Breen's Proof Encyclopedia numbers the proof mintage of the Arrows quarters at 540 pieces -- 500 for the silver proof sets, with 40 extra coins struck later in the year for unspecified reasons. The present example in the grade of PR66+ Cameo is tied for 5th finest known. This piece is essentially immaculate, free of any visible post-Mint contact marks and showing surfaces that are fully struck throughout both sides. Original patina transitions from deep dark gold on the rims through light almost transparent gold in the centers, and ample mint frost ensures contrast with the reflective fields. The coin does have some fogginess at certain angles, but then at others, POW a dramatic cameo pops. A truly original and near pristine example.

Deep proof like contrast is in evidence between the fields and devices of this superb Gem example. The icy-white motifs are fully struck and frosted on both sides and the fields display great reflectivity. The surfaces are exquisitely preserved and virtually flawless. In point of fact, this combination of factors is indeed rare, Between PCGS, SEGS and NGC they have certified less than 20 examples in ms66 DMPL and no service until this coin has ever garnered the plus designation. Long held in a private collection in Connecticut, this coin has not seen the light of day in over 50 years. Snow Die Stage B with the tip of the eagle's right wing separated due to die polishing and the remnants of the under digit 7 and the errant digit 1 faint, yet still discernible with the aid of a loupe. ***Auction Highlight*** Old Casino 50c Roll $10 Halves Las Vegas Casino The Mint 1933 Walker & 'P' F

Lot # 163 (Sale Order: 121 of 583)

***Auction Highlight*** Old Casino 50c Roll $10 Halves Las Vegas Casino The Mint 1933 Walker & 'P' Franklin Ends. Up for auction is a Consignment I have secured a ...morecollection of old 1960’s Las Vegas Casino Half Dollar Shot Gun Rolls from various Casinos. These Rolls contain 20 Half Dollars. They have tight ends and are wild!. I opened three rolls to examine the contents and what I found was mostly Circulated Walkers, a few Franklins and a Seated coin or two and a couple of Barbers. But after I opened the rolls, I wished I hadn’t as they were so cool as antique Las Vegas Half Rolls. I have only seen a handful of these ever. The consignee has given us some additional rolls. We estimate the rolls to be worth $2000 each as a collectable antique, but if the roll is opened and has a rare date, who knows the value, a 1921 Walker even in low grade is worth over $500, and several other dates are worth over $200 each. But who knows, maybe a rare 1878-s Seated is inside. ($35k in g4), or an 1892-o Barber ($5k in G4). In any event the rolls themselves are amazing collectibles of a bygone era of the Rat pack and Las Vegas. From the rolls we have received there are 10 different casinos. Good Luck.

HIGHLIGHT OF THE MONTH - Up for Auction is The Ver...morey rarest of the Rare, the Elusive BD-5, 1804 Small 8 over Large 8 Draped Bust $5 Gold Half Eagle, a Rarity 6+ Variety. The BD-5 Does not represent the very popular 8/8 overdate. The 8/8 overdate can be found in 3 Die Varieties, the BD-5, the BD-6 and the BD-7. Virtually all are either the 6 or 7. The BD-5 is the rarest 1804, and one of the KEY Die Varieties of the entire Series. A famous rarity in a high state of preservation. This Variety was sought out and held in collections such as Pogue, Norweb and Harry Bass! And Now Your collection may be able to contain such a rarity! , As a variety, it nears the highest echelons of elusiveness, with a population of 15 to 18 specimens in all grades estimated in the Bass-Dannreuther book. This variety was not known to Breen in 1966, though specimens had been offered during his period of study (including the coin in the 1955 Farish Boldenone sale, a specimen of this variety that later ended up in the Harry Bass Collection) was acquired by Mrs. Emery May Norweb. The Key Pick Up Points for the Variety are, on the Reverse, as all 3 share the 8/8 Obverse. But the BD-5 can easily be spotted by looking for the tell-tale die break from the shield running directly through the E in America. It was this die break that led to the die being quickly retired. As a 2nd pick up point you can look to the star by the beak. It will not touch the upper beak, and the other point will aim just above the lower beak! I was blown away when I verified the variety. I also should add that there is no specific reason I can discern why it has a details designation. No hairlines or marks are present to justify such in any obvious way. I wish you Great Luck in possibly obtaining a Rarity sought by the likes of Bass, Norweb and Pogue. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation

*HIGHLIGHT OF NIGHT* 1879-cc Clear CC Morgan Dollar $1 Graded ms63 By SEGS (fc)

Lot # 166 (Sale Order: 124 of 583)

***Auction Highlight*** 1879-cc Clear CC Morgan Dollar $1 Graded ms63 By SEGS. HIGHLIGHT OF THE NIGHT – Up for Auction is a Superb Key Date 1879-cc Clear CC Morgan...more Dollar. The Example is Semi Proof Like with absolutely not even a whisper of wear or even a rub. I have shown closeups of the almost high relief breast Feathers and the full high well peaked Eyebrow and full unbroken luster at the highpoint of the cheek bone. One of the better 1879-cc Morgans we have offered in quite some time. Also the Clear CC is the rarer variety at this mint state level. Although the 1879-CC was represented in in the GSA auctions, there were far fewer to be had than the other Carson City issues struck prior to its 1885 coinage hiatus. Unlike the CC-mint issues from the 1880s, the '79-CC was primarily released into circulation. The present near-Gem is an exception, since it has dazzling luster along with a powerful strike. The minimally toned fields are well preserved, and the cheek has only moderate grazes. I have included another ms62+ and an ms64 I feel is equal to our offering for your comparison. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation

*HIGHLIGHT OF NIGHT* 1840-o Gold Liberty Half Eagle $5 Graded ms63 details By SEGS (fc)

Lot # 167 (Sale Order: 125 of 583)

***Auction Highlight*** 1840-o Gold Liberty Half Eagle $5 Graded ms63 details By SEGS. HIGHLIGHT OF THE NIGHT – Up for Auction is an exceptionally rare 1840-o Libe...morerty $5 Half Eagle Gold. This piece is of the Narrow Mill type and exhibits raised die lines at IB in LIBERTY. It is identified as Variety Two by Winter. There are a few inconsequential abrasions in the unprotected fields, completely commensurate with the grade assigned. There are some light hairlines which is why it has the details designation. I will note that ms63 straight grade is the finest known! Unusual are the surfaces displaying nice luster and an above average strike that is typically absent on 1840-O fives. The rich, yellow-gold coloration on both sides is very pleasing. This is a great example. Experts agree that a total of less than 200 1840-O half eagles exist in all grades. The combined totals of the NGC Census Report, SEGS POP report and the PCGS Population Report suggest an even lower survival rate, especially when taking into consideration the trend of coins being submitted more than once in pursuit of a higher grade designation. The coin in this lot ranks in the upper echelon of known examples. To enthusiasts of New Orleans gold coinage, this piece represents a nearly insurmountable high grade, and to purveyors of southern gold the current specimen is recognized as one the few Select Uncirculated 1840-O five dollars extant. I am including an ms62 example for your comparison, as no ms63 has come to auction in over 15 Years. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation
