Proof ***Auction Highlight*** 1884 Near TOP POP! Seated Half Dollar 50c Graded pr67 CAM By SEGS (fc)

Lot # 740 (Sale Order: 480 of 583)

***Auction Highlight*** 1884 Near TOP POP! Seated Half Dollar 50c Graded pr67 CAM By SEGS. The 1884 half dollar is best known as the nadir of the 1879-1890 low-min...moretage series. Only 5,275 total half dollars were struck, of which a mere 875 were proofs. This piece is tied with several others as finest certified. The surfaces are bright and flashy with deep reflectivity seen in the fields. Light rose-colored margins contrast against the brilliant centers, just as the heavily frosted devices contrast against the mirrored fields. Tied for 2nd finest known. I am including another ms67 ca for your comparison. I think you will agree ours is superior. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation

*HIGHLIGHT OF NIGHT* 1794 Head Of '94 S-28 Flowing Hair large cent 1c Graded By SEGS (fc)

Lot # 742 (Sale Order: 481 of 583)

***Auction Highlight*** 1794 Head Of '94 S-28 Flowing Hair large cent 1c Graded ms64 bn details By SEGS. Highlight of the Night – Up for Auction is a Stunning exam...moreple of the 1794 Head of 1794 Liberty cap Large Cent, Sheldon 28 Variety, rarity 2. The coin has hard smooth planchet, a terrific strike and superb eye appeal. Steel Brown even color and no distracting marks throughout. It has a details designation because under high power you can see some hairlines. As far as eye appeal, the coin has it in abundance. The finest known in the variety is a single ms66 and after that is an ms64, I have included a picture of that ms64. I must say that the coin that holds the 2nd spot in the Noyes census is a full rival of our coin as far as eye appeal. The Sheldon 28 can easily be identified by a small planchet flaw opposite the 4th hair strand on the obverse, 8 strands total, and on the reverse, only 1 leaf opposite the I in AMERICA. It is the B/B Die State. I wish you luck in owing this superb early American copper rarity. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation

*HIGHLIGHT OF ENTIRE AUCTION* 1860-d Dahlonega Gold Liberty Half Eagle $5 Graded ms63+ By SEGS (fc)

Lot # 743 (Sale Order: 482 of 583)

***Auction Highlight*** 1860-d Dahlonega Medium D Gold Liberty Half Eagle $5 Graded ms63+ By SEGS. HIGHLIGHT OF THE ENTIRE AUCTION – Up for Auction is the penultim...moreate half eagle from the Dahlonega Mint, coming from a mintage of 14,635 pieces. The issue is divided into two subtypes by mintmark size. The Large D variant, with two die varieties known, is rare. (less than 10 Known) The Medium D coin, with one variety known, represents the majority of the surviving 1860-D half eagles. Numismatic researcher and author Doug Winter estimates a survival of approximately one dozen Mint State 1860-D half eagles, although only 3 are finer than this example. This coin displays remarkably smooth, straw-gold surfaces with only faint handling hairlines evident in the fields. No singular abrasions are seen. Moreover, most of each side is sharply struck. Localized weakness appears only on the eagle's neck and the corresponding central portion of Liberty's neck curl. I have included 2 other examples for your comparison, both ms64 as no ms63 has ever come to Auction in the last 10 Years. Please note both ours and the two examples have the exact same center weakness in the strike. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation

Lot # 744 (Sale Order: 483 of 583)

***Auction Highlight*** 1864-p Briggs 1-A Seated Liberty Quarter 25c Graded ms66+ By SEGS. HIGHLIGHT OF THE NIGHT – Up for Auction is a Stellar Civil War Issue, an...more 1864-p Seated Liberty Quarter, that is an absolute GEM PLUS! With the Civil War raging and circulating silver absent from (or hoarded in) most areas of the United States, the Philadelphia Mint had little reason to produce a large number of quarters in 1864. Coinage amounted to 93,600 pieces, and high-end survivors are rare. This Superb Gem representative is Near TOP POP, Tied for 7th Finest Known. Gleaming, frosty luster with modest hints of reflectivity in the fields proceeds from both sides of this un-toned Superb Gem. Sharply detailed features complement delicate iridescent and silver-grey iridescence. Grade-limiting abrasions are virtually nonexistent. I Have included an ms66 and an ms67 for your comparison. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation

***Auction Highlight*** 1918 $2 "Battleship Note" National Currency Federal Reserve Bank of New York

Lot # 748 (Sale Order: 487 of 583)

***Auction Highlight*** 1918 $2 "Battleship Note" National Currency Federal Reserve Bank of New York, NY Grades vf+. Somewhat similar to the language seen on Natio...morenal Bank Notes, the notes themselves were actually backed by bonds deposited with the United States Treasury by the individual Federal Reserve bank. Forever confusing new collectors, the top of these notes read “NATIONAL CURRENCY” but they are not what is referred to as National Bank Notes. Starting off with the main attraction to these interesting banknotes is the design on the back, with its imposing visage of the 27,000-ton USS New York dreadnought battleship. The vignette was never labeled on the note itself and was intended to be generic, but in comparing it to an image of New York it is clear the two are the same. The face of the note has a vignette of third United States President Thomas Jefferson; his first appearance on the Federal $2 bill was on the Series of 1869 Legal Tender, and he can be found there on modern $2 notes to this day.

The key date 1893-S boasts the lowest circulation strike mintage in its series with just 100,000 coins produced, survivors eagerly sought in all grades. ***Auction Highlight*** 1889-cc vam 2A I2 R6 Morgan Dollar $1 Graded au58 Details By SEGS (fc)

Lot # 755 (Sale Order: 494 of 583)

***Auction Highlight*** 1889-cc vam 2A I2 R6 Morgan Dollar $1 Graded au58 Details By SEGS. Closed for coinage operations for three years, the Carson City Mint need...moreed substantial repairs as well as new management personnel and technicians before the facility was again viable for production. It was not until October 1889 before everything was in place, and the old Nevada Mint could manage just 31,000 double eagles in addition to a paltry 350,000 silver dollars as its year's output. In particular, the silver dollar mintage was low -- even by Carson City's standards. Today, the 1889-CC is one of the most desirable scarcities in the Morgan dollar series, with a one-two punch of low mintage combined with the undeniable allure of its CC mintmark. This is a brilliant, partially proof like example, with light field abrasions and a trace of high-point wear. Hairlines on the reverse are the reason for the details grade. The coin is a whisper away from full Mint State, and its near-Mint condition is comparable to many lower-end Uncirculated pieces. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin

*HIGHLIGHT OF THE MONTH* 1855-d Ty II Dahlonega Gold Dollar $1 Graded ms61 details By SEGS (fc)

Lot # 756 (Sale Order: 495 of 583)

***Auction Highlight*** 1855-d Ty II Dahlonega Gold Dollar $1 Graded ms61 details By SEGS. HIGHLIGHT OF THE MONTH – Up for Auction is an 1855-d Dahlonega Gold Doll...morear, Type II. The short-lived Type Two gold dollar subset, which ran briefly from 1854 to 1856, is always popular. Collectors can focus on putting together a complete set of six pieces, or they might just want one high-grade example. Alternatively, they may focus more narrowly on obtaining coins from the mints of their choosing: Charlotte, Dahlonega, New Orleans, Philadelphia, and San Francisco. Southern Type Two gold dollar production took place entirely within the year 1855, with the North Carolina and Georgia issues standing out as the two most challenging issues in the series and the 1855-O being relatively accessible. Between the D and C-mint issues, the Dahlonega 1855 gold dollar is far scarcer than its Charlotte counterpart, claiming the lowest mintage of the series with only 1,811 coins struck. Doug Winter estimates 75 to 100 1855-D gold dollars survive, mostly in VF and XF grades, writing in 2013: "There are an estimated four or five known in Uncirculated and this includes two that have been graded MS64 by the services." Although PCGS and NGC each now show two coins at this level, that is likely the result of crossovers and resubmissions. The Coin at hand, while it is details due to some light hairlines, it has virtually no abrasions and zero wear making it deserving of its ms63 Details Grade. Both sides are unimaginably clean and attractive, strongly struck, and attractive for an 1855-D representative. Light yellow-gold color paints satiny surfaces, and noticeable proof like reflectivity exists in the fields. Both sides are boldly defined, with the exception of Liberty's upper curls and the 8 in the date, as usual. Clashed with a die crack from the rim up along the right side of the mintmark to the ribbon. I wish you good luck in obtaining this fabled rarity. I have included a picture of an ms61 for your comparison. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation

***Auction Highlight*** 1888-s vam 1D I2 R5 Morgan Dollar $1 Graded ms66+ By SEGS. The 1888-S is a slightly better date in high grade, and it becomes conditionally...more scarce in MS66. Almost all of the coins in this grade are non-Proof like pieces. The piece offered here is especially attractive. Spectacular satin like luster, even and billowy cover the entire obverse and reverse. Sharp central devices complement outstanding preservation, and neither side has mentionable toning. An important opportunity for the advanced Morgan dollar collector. Lot # 758 (Sale Order: 497 of 583)

***Auction Highlight*** 1892-cc Gold Liberty Double Eagle $20 Graded ms62 details By SEGS. The 1892-CC is the penultimate Carson City date of production and the la...morest full year of issue, as the minting operations in Nevada were shut down before half of 1893 was done. This MS62 survivor from late in the Old West facility's life has reflective fields and more frosty characteristics on the central devices. Though flatly struck, particularly on the stars surrounding the portrait, this coin has great eye appeal for the grade thanks to the effusive luster. Broadly distributed light to moderate abrasions account for the grade. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. ***Auction Highlight*** 1804 Small 8 BD-1 Gold Draped Bust $5 Half Eagle Graded ms63+ By SEGS (fc)

Lot # 759 (Sale Order: 498 of 583)

***Auction Highlight*** 1804 Small 8 BD-1 Gold Draped Bust $5 Half Eagle Graded ms63+ By SEGS. Up for Auction is a wonderful 1804 Draped Bust $5 Half Eagle Gold, B...moreD-1 Variety. Bass-Dannreuther Die State b/b, with a die crack through 0 in the date and a retained cud above T in UNITED. A substantial mintage of 30,475 Capped Bust Right half eagles was accomplished in 1804, with seven die varieties known for the date. This coin represents the scarce BD-1 variety, with a Small 8 (John Dannreuther notes it is really a Normal 8) in the date and a graver's line from the point of the shield to the eagle's beak on the reverse. The BD-1 has a surviving population of 70-90 examples in all grades. This was the only use of the reverse die, but the obverse was used again to strike the BD-2 variety of this date. The present coin is a spectacular Choice example, with sharply detailed design elements and a few planchet adjustment marks on the bust. The pleasing antique-gold surfaces retain much original mint luster and show only minor signs of contact. Eye appeal is outstanding. I have included an ms64 example which I think is fully our examples equal. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. 1902 $10 National Currency Third Charter President McKinley The Union National Bank Of Philidphia, P

Lot # 760 (Sale Order: 499 of 583)

1902 $10 National Currency Third Charter President McKinley The Union National Bank Of Philidphia, PA Grades vf+. This note belongs to an important series of Unit...moreed States currency in that it is the last type note of National Bank Currency printed in the old larger size. At the beginning of the final charter of notes (1929) all the new notes are made in the new smaller size. This note also features the portrait of William McKinley 25th president of the United States, who had been shot and killed at the Pan-American Exposition just a few months before the first notes in this series were printed and released bearing his image. National bank notes are different from other nationally printed currency in that they are printed specifically for each individual chartered bank organization. This assisted greatly in creating a system of bank notes that were the same across the country. This aided in travelers knowing what they were spending and receiving in change, rather than the times when each bank and state printed their own currency with their own designs. The National Bank Note system was abandoned shortly after the changeover to smaller size notes in 1929, making the third charter notes the last truly used issue of this kind.
