Proof ***Auction Highlight*** 1868 Motto Seated Liberty Dollar $1 Graded pr66 DCAM By SEGS (fc)

Lot # 142 (Sale Order: 101 of 201)

***Auction Highlight*** 1868 Motto Seated Liberty Dollar $1 Graded pr66 DCAM By SEGS. 0 HIGHLIGHT OF THE NIGHT - Just as on their gold double eagle counterparts, the...more upswell of religious sentiment during and after the conclusion of the Civil War in 1865 led to the introduction of the With Motto silver dollars, forming a separate subtype with IN GOD WE TRUST on the reverse. The third year 1868 Motto silver dollar proof coinage was 600 pieces, and this coin is among the few finest survivors. The fields are dazzling and deeply reflective against heavily frosted devices, and the strike is pinpoint-sharp throughout, giving the appearance of a coin that was carefully made and carefully preserved. No obvious defects appear to detract from the strong eye appeal

***Auction Highlight*** 1796 W/ Pole Liberty Cap half cent 1/2c Graded vf35 details By SEGS (fc)

Lot # 143 (Sale Order: 102 of 201)

***Auction Highlight*** 1796 W/ Pole Liberty Cap half cent 1/2c Graded vf35 details By SEGS. 0 HIGHLIGHT OF THE AUCTION - Up for Auction is an Ultra rare coin with a...more terrific Pedigree. The 1796 Half cent is the undisputed key date in the half cent series. The coin we are offering today last sold in the Goldberg Auction of 2011. Here is the pedigree of the last three owners prior to our consignee, a private collection from New Hampshire. Ex Colonel Lester Bernstein, Stack's 4/86:27 (as VF30)-Jim McGuigan 7/86-Colonel Steven Ellsworth 3/13/2002. Please note that in the sale in 4/86, the coin was straight graded vf30, and I agree and see no real reason for the details grade. the portrait does display very light scratches and scuff marks, mostly in the hair, with a few more above the head. The marks blend into the attractive glossy olive brown and chocolate toning and the eye appeal of this piece remains excellent for the grade. The planchet is smooth, void of any trace of corrosion or verdigris. MDS with the reverse rotated 15 degrees CCW. The date and legends are complete and strong. In the Goldberg sale of 2011, the coin realized $35,650, and that was over 10 years ago. We estimate this coin today at $40-$50k. I have included the photos from the Goldberg sale to illustrate it is the exact same coin, the winner will also get Goldberg card and the original coins pouch and notes. I am also including a vf30 example that sold more recently in August of 2020 for $60,000. I wish you good Luck.

Incredibly well-preserved Wisconsin for this silver issue dated 1936, the year the commemorative rush was at its greatest height. ***Auction Highlight*** 1853-d Dahlonega Variety 29-V Gold Liberty Half Eagle $5 Graded ms63 By SEGS

Lot # 148 (Sale Order: 105 of 201)

***Auction Highlight*** 1853-d Dahlonega Variety 29-V Gold Liberty Half Eagle $5 Graded ms63 By SEGS. 0 This is a beautiful example with yellow-gold patina to both s...moreides. The strike is superior by the standards of the issuing mint, the detail sharp to full apart from minor softness at the top of Liberty's portrait on the obverse and at the base of the eagle on the reverse. Lustrous with a satin to softly frosted texture, a few marks by the date which are only noticeable with aid of a loupe, is the only reason this coin is not an ms64. With an unusually generous mintage (by Dahlonega Mint standards) of 89,678 pieces, it should perhaps come as no surprise to read that the 1853-D is the most common half eagle from this coinage facility. Examples in VF and EF are obtainable with ease and, although scarce, enough AUs survive that there are usually numerous auction appearances for such pieces in any given year. Mint State coins are another matter, however, for the 1853-D is a noteworthy condition rarity at this level. In Choice MS-63 the present example qualifies as Condition Census, a coin that would serve as a highlight in the finest Liberty Head half eagle collection, Southern gold cabinet, or mintmarked type set. Outstanding!

***Auction Highlight*** 1927-s Walking Liberty Half Dollar 50c Graded ms65 By SEGS (fc)

Lot # 154 (Sale Order: 109 of 201)

***Auction Highlight*** 1927-s Walking Liberty Half Dollar 50c Graded ms65 By SEGS. Within 1 Point of the Finest Known. Exquisite ice white surfaces are virtually free...more of toning and reveal no grade-limiting abrasions. The strike is well above average for the issue with sharp definition elsewhere and emerging to bold detail on the obverse over Liberty's head and right (facing) hand. A gorgeous Gem example of a conditionally challenging Walking Liberty half dollar issue. The original mintage of 2,392,000 pieces generally entered circulation with few being saved in mint state. Well struck Gems like the present coin are elusive. Demand for half dollars during this decade was low, hence few were struck. Demand continued soft until 1934 when the various mints began production again in earnest of these half dollars and other denominations as well. An exceptional example of this date and mint that is destined for the finest collection. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. ***Auction Highlight*** *Star Note* 1891 $2 Large Size Tresaury Note Fr-357 General McPherson Grade

Lot # 160 (Sale Order: 115 of 201)

***Auction Highlight*** *Star Note* 1891 $2 Large Size Tresaury Note Fr-357 General McPherson Grades vf++. Treasury notes were only printed in 1890 and 1891. This...more note has a red seal and red serial numbers. It is interesting to note that James B McPherson is the only person to die in the Civil War who was later featured on United States paper money. McPherson was also the second highest ranking Union officer to die in the Civil War. Collecting paper money by portrait has always been an interesting but very challenging way to put together a currency collection. It is also difficult to try to complete a collection of 1891 treasury notes. The $1,000 note is unique and a $500 1891 treasury note has yet to be discovered. Any denomination over $20 is very scarce and rarely seen. There really isn’t an accepted nickname for 1891 $2 treasury notes. Collectors definitely refer to the portrait on the bill as a quick way to identify the item. McPherson was pictured on both the 1890 and 1891 treasury notes so you still have to get a little bit more specific

***Auction Highlight*** 1880-o TOP POP! Morgan Dollar $1 Graded ms65 DMPL By SEGS (fc)

Lot # 161 (Sale Order: 116 of 201)

***Auction Highlight*** 1880-o TOP POP! Morgan Dollar $1 Graded ms65 DMPL By SEGS. HIGHLIGHT OF THE YEAR – Up for Auction is the Ultimate Morgan Rarity. The 1880-o in ms...more65 DMPL. We’ve Sold the coin in ms63, we’ve sold it in ms64. We even once had it in ms64+DMPL, but we have never been able to offer you the ultimate ms65 DMPL 1880-o. Please look at the closeup of the mirror pictures, SHARP DEEP mirrors! The challenges involved in finding a Gem Deep Mirror Prooflike example of this issue boil down to strike, luster and contrast, and bag marks, not necessarily in order of importance. Strike is a problem with the issue, if not to the same degree as some later O-mint issues. All 1880-O Morgans have the reverse of 1879, with slanted top arrow feather on the reverse and rounded breast on the eagle. Many 1880-Os show noticeable softness in the hair over Liberty's ear or on the eagle's breast. Some of the 1880-O dollars show satiny or greasy luster and/or little to no contrast, neither feature conducive to a Deep Mirror Prooflike certification. Prooflike coins exist, but few of them attain the Gem level. Bagmarks can vary for the issue; some 1880-Os show severe bag marks, although there are many pleasing exceptions. In summary, this coin is a phenomenon that defies several stereotypes in order to reach the summit, the crème de la crème. The strike is pleasingly bold on surfaces that are fully reflective. The devices exhibit thick arctic permafrost, with radiant field mirrors. The few ticks in the field are minor, consistent with the Gem grade--but there are no marks of significance. This Gem Deep Mirror Prooflike 1880-O Morgan is suited for the finest collection and must be considered among the most important Morgan dollar offerings in this auction. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation

***Auction Highlight*** 1890-o TOP POP! Vam 11 Morgan Dollar $1 Graded ms67 By SEGS (fc)

Lot # 162 (Sale Order: 117 of 201)

***Auction Highlight*** 1890-o TOP POP! Vam 11 Morgan Dollar $1 Graded ms67 By SEGS. The sold Finest Known, No other graded ms67. This strike and condition rarity is a ...morevery appealing representative of this challenging New Orleans Mint Morgan dollar issue. Central high point detail ranges from bold (obverse) to sharp (reverse), and the coin is free of the extreme softness seen in these areas on most examples of the issue. The luster is full and frosty, and the surfaces are brilliant with an exceptionally smooth texture. The rarity of the 1890-O as a sharply struck Gem has long been recognized by numismatic writers. Wayne Miller (The Morgan & Peace Dollar Textbook) states, "As with all of the 'O' mint dollars from 1887-1897, most specimens [of the 1890-O] are poorly struck." Q. David Bowers (1993) writes: "Most Mint State coins are weakly struck..." Due to this feature, the typical Uncirculated example is confined to lower certified grades through MS-64+, even if the surfaces are lustrous and overall smooth. A noteworthy departure from the norm, this finest known Gem will do credit to the finest Morgan dollar set. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation

***Auction Highlight*** 1871-cc Seated Liberty Quarter 25c Graded vf35 details By SEGS (fc)

Lot # 164 (Sale Order: 119 of 201)

***Auction Highlight*** 1871-cc Seated Liberty Quarter 25c Graded vf35 details By SEGS. 0 A single die pair was used to strike a token quantity of 10,890 quarter dol...morelars at the Carson City Mint in 1871. Small silver coinage at the Nevada branch mint was limited until the mid-1870s, and those pieces that were struck became workhorses of Western commerce. As happened in the San Francisco area a couple of decades earlier, circulating coinage in the mining country of the Nevada Territory was severely worn and abused, leaving high-grade survivors extremely rare. The 1871-CC quarter dollar is rare in all grades, and most pieces reside below the VF level. This Choice VF coin is high-end for the issue, showing sharp detail and pleasing pewter-gray patina. The details grade is due to the marks by the date. Not really noticeable without magnification. Good Luck in becoming one of the few who own one.

***Auction Highlight*** 1921 Pilgrim Old Commem Half Dollar 50c Graded ms67 By SEGS (fc)

Lot # 165 (Sale Order: 120 of 201)

***Auction Highlight*** 1921 Pilgrim Old Commem Half Dollar 50c Graded ms67 By SEGS. Within 1 point of the finest known. Flashy and brilliant and virtually untoned. Fro...morested in a uniform satin texture and virtually untouched beneath a glass. This piece is among the finest survivors of this issue that we have ever handled. The 1921 Pilgrim half dollar is somewhat of an enigma, as 1921 represents the 301st anniversary of the landing of Pilgrims in what is now known as Plymouth, Massachusetts. In 1921 there were still thousands of 1920 Tercentenary half dollars undistributed. However, it was thought that collectors would provide a market for a new issue of small mintage, and they did. Even so, the vast majority of these coins are confined to lower Mint State grades of MS-64 and lower. In Superb Gem, as here, this issue remains a considerable challenge for advanced collectors. When Examining a 1921 Pilgrim, Look for Wear on the Crow's Nest and on the Cheek Bone on the Obverse as these are the High Points. Lot # 171 (Sale Order: 122 of 201)

***Auction Highlight*** 1927-s TOP POP Peace Dollar $1 Graded ms66 By SEGS. 0 HIGHLIGHT OF THE NIGHT – Up for Auction is a coin tied for finest known with none other...more than the famous Jack Lee Example. As might be expected from its low mintage of 866,000 pieces, the 1927-S Peace dollar is one of the rarest dates of the series in higher Mint State grades. In addition to the limited mintage, the 1927-S was plagued by poor production values, and almost all examples seen display weak striking details. The present coin is a well struck Premium Gem, with the typical softness evident in some of the lettering and the central design elements. The surfaces show few signs of contact, with vibrant mint luster shining under colorful toning. The coin must be seen to be appreciated. Just Stunning. I have included a picture of the Jack Lee ms66, that realized $48,875 in April of 2011 For your comparison.

***Auction Highlight*** 1899-o Morgan Dollar $1 Graded ms67 dmpl By SEGS. TIED FOR FINEST KNOWN! This O-mint issue achieved wide distribution following the Treasury...more releases of the early 1960s, and many examples that emerged that that time were noted for their aesthetic appeal. Q. David Bowers, in his A Guide Book of Morgan Silver Dollars, notes that "The usual 1899-O is sparkling and beautiful to behold." He also writes that Deep Mirror Prooflikes can be of "stunning beauty," which is the least that can be said for this spectacular Superb Gem. It is sharply struck, powerfully mirrored, and strongly contrasted through occasional whispers of silver-gray patina. Magnificent eye appeal.
