Fine to excellent. Showing only the most minor losses at edges of green label with light foxing. Peach side labels have darkened somewhat. Box is tight with sharp corners.

Checkered walnut grip. Triggerguard finial details place this Deringer pistol’s date of manufacture in the late 1840’s. Sideplate marked ‘Deringer Philadelphia’ with the letter ‘P’ placed on the left side barrel flat, as is additional maker’s markings and address to top flat.

.41 cal., 2-1/16” barrel, 4-7/8” in overall length, round triggerguard, browned steel sideplate, with standard mountings of engraved German silver including the triggerguard, sideplate retaining escutcheon, wedge escutcheons on fore-end, flash plate (area below nipple bolster), the shield-shaped escutcheon on back of grip, tear-shaped cap on bottom of butt and fore-end tip.  Not fitted for ramrod. Checkered walnut grip. Triggerguard finial details place this Deringer pistol’s date of manufacture between 1848-50. Sideplate marked ‘Deringer Philadelphia’ with the letter ‘P’ placed between the silver bands on the left side barrel flat. Barrel shows the beautiful copper streaking that separates the Deringer pistols from their closest competitors.





Condition:
Very good. Showing light general overall wear mainly to the iron parts but with thinning to the light engraving on German silver small parts as well. Grips show moderate thinning to checks with small losses and light just beginning cracks emanating from the escutcheons to the edges of grip. Contained in original green felt-lined partitioned London oak case together with two-cavity brass bullet mold, nipple wrench, patch cutter, oiler, cleaning rod, bag flask, two cap tins, extra nipple supply, and three extra 5-shot cylinders.  Lid of case with original paper label reading: Wm Dooley/Gun Maker/No. 11/Ranalegh Street, Liverpool.

Condition:
Good. Metal showing grey age patina with scattered light pitting overall. Grip is very good. Accoutrements are good to very good. Case interior fair with wear and soiling to fabric. Exterior of case is good with minor scuffs and wear overall.

U.S. Model 1842 Single-Shot Martial Percussion Pistol, by H. Aston & Co.

Lot # 1023 (Sale Order: 24 of 531)      

.54 cal. smoothbore, 8-1/2" round barrel, overall length 14", brass blade front sight, swivel-type steel ramrod with button-shaped head.  Breech marked: U.S./WN/P, with J.H. inspector markings. Tang marked: 1851. Brass furniture marked with sub-inspector marked H.

Condition:
Excellent. Showing very light overall wear. Stocks remain in near excellent condition with slight dings and impressions, but both cartouches are absolutely clear. Brass furniture shows nice even patina overall. Action is crisp, bore is excellent. Pistol appears unfired.

French or Belgian Pinfire Knife Revolver, with Horn Grips and Scabbard

Lot # 1025 (Sale Order: 25 of 531)      

Serial no. 2765, 8mm PF cal., 3-1/4" hexagon rifled barrel integral with 5-5/16" bowie style single edge clip-point blade; 5-shot cylinder, crown over B proofmark, double action with folding trigger, blued finish, bag-shaped grip of horn, with lanyard ring at butt. Leather scabbard with steel throat, frog, ejector rod and German silver tip.

Condition:
Good. Gray and brown patina, extensive pitting. Grip with light marks and minor crack. Scabbard good, with worn and cracked leather, repair at separation at intersection with cutting edge of blade. Patina and pitting to steel mount, and patina and light denting to tip.
