This is a fine original example of a 41 1/4 inch overall length Japanese matchlock. Fixed sights, with a round swamped muzzle on 28 inch barrel with silver inlaid floral designs overall. Brass lock plate assembly, with swiveling touchhole cover and a round trigger. Smooth straight grip stock with brass escutcheons on the left side of the butt and a thin brass reinforcement strip on the heel. Japanese characters and number "10062" lightly scratches into the left side of stock.

Blade is 27 1/2" long, with single hi, wavy hamon, and gold washed copper habaki. Military tsuba, with silver and brass seppa, properly pierced to accept the sheath retainer clip in the fuchi. Military hilt, with brown cord wrap and military menuki with silver moon designs in the centers. The nakago is signed, with 5 symbols on the left side and three larger symbols on the right. Brown lacquered military saya, with single suspension band.

Condition: Excellent. A tiny chip is absent from the edge, with minor spotting towards the tip, otherwise the finish is bright and the hamon is strong. Minor wear is visible on the furniture, and the wrap shows minor stains. A few areas of flaking are present on the saya, with mild handling marks. Mountings are all very fine.

Dagger with Elaborate, Ornate, Jewel Studded Engraved Silver Hilt

Blade is 3 1/4" long, spear pointed with no makers marks. Hilt is finely worked and engraved silver, with clover shaped dual quillions, raised and engraved scroll and checkerboard designs, and a small floral bloom design on top of the flared pommel. The hilt is further accented with a fine blue enamel applied to the deepest sections of the engraving, green jade inserts in the quillions, four panels on either side of the guard and grip and in thin arches on the sides of the pommel, 10 small pink stones on each side, and a blood red ruby on each side of the center. OAL: 7 3/4".

Unmarked 14" dual quillion single edged blade, with a short straight false edge, long ricasso and a brass disc covering the tang. Metal grip, with a fluted midsection, engraved with designs of a heavenly lion at the guard, scales on the fluted section, and an Eastern dragon on the pommel, with additional leafy vine work. OAL: 19 3/4". Metal plated wood sheath, with a leather wrap around the midsection, separating engraved scenes of a pair of heavenly lions up top and a dragon fighting a crane below, along with additional leafy vine work on the reverse.

With a brown leather sheath, silver throat and tip engraved to match the collar, and a two pronged fork head in an integral pouch. The fork screws into the tip, turning the sheath into a grip. 2) Caucasian dagger, 7 1/8" double edged single fuller blade, with dual ball quillion crossguard and a silver finished brass hilt with zig-zag backed scroll engraving and black enamel fill in the scrollwork. OAL: 11 1/2". With a silver finished sheath, with scroll and leaf engraving and similar enamel fill.

Prussian Conversion Percussion Military Pistol

The only visible marking on the pistol is a "crown over script letter" proof mark on the left stock plate. The barrel has an integral blade front sight with a cannon muzzle. The pistol was converted to percussion. There is a clean out screw on the bolster. The spring was retained on the lock and a safety/nipple shield was installed above it. The spring is used to secure the safety when placed in engaged or disengaged position. The barrel tang has a notched raised section that serves as the rear sight. Iron backstrap and brass barrel band, trigger guard and buttcap with an iron lanyard ring and stud. Mounted with a one piece half stock.

The lock plate is also numbered "71", with "LUTTICH 1851" marked ahead of the hammer, which has a wide checkered spur. Smooth full length pistol grip stock, with a split barrel band, "crown/ crossed scepters" stamped on the left side, "crown/L" proofs on the reverse plate and trigger guard, and a steel pommel cap with the struck-through markings "RAI" and "2 26" near the unstruck "1.A.4.68.".

The lock is signed "Delcoumbre/ Mons" under the flashpan, with light border engraving on the lock plate and hammer. Full length stock, with raised carving around the metal components, a plate on the wrist engraved with a design of a chevron surrounded with 3 small circles, and a flared butt with metal cap. Overall length is 15 1/2".

Scarce Baker London 1841 Flintlock Rifle Modified to Carbine

This is an example of a modified Baker 1841 flintlock rifle. The barrel has been shortened to it's current length of 30 1/2". The left rear of the barrel is marked with two Birmingham proofmarks flanking "RW". There is an unrecognizable marking on the lock ahead of the hammer. Brass mountings with a sling swivel on the front of the trigger guard and replacement iron ramrod. The patch box area has been filled with wood in what appears to be an arsenal modification.

Lightly border engraved lock plate, with "TOWER" marked vertically at the rear and King George III's "crown/ GR" royal cipher in front, along with the "crown / broad arrow" army property mark. Smooth straight grip stock, with brass forearm tip, ramrod pipes, trigger guard, reverse plate and butt, an iron ramrod with button tip, unmarked reverse plate, one sling swivel, "crown/ arrow/ 1805" on the right side of the buttstock and a flat butt. With a socket bayonet, marked "Osborn/ X/ 1" on top of the 16" triangular spike bayonet, "crown/ 4" proof, 3 7/8" socket and leather and brass sheath. With a pair of data cards from a previous owner, with information on the musket and bayonet.

Condition: Very fine, with a mixed patina on the metal components, strong amounts of blue on the lock and hammer, and scattered pitting and spotting. Stock is also very fine, with a crack opposite the lockplate, a few other small cracks, pressure dents and dark spots. Bayonet is fair, with pitting and dings. Sheath is cracked and scuffed. Mechanically excellent.

The lock is marked "P BOND" ahead of the hammer and the top of the barrel is marked "45 CORNHILL LONDON" with recessed "crown/GP" and "crown/V" British military proofs present at the breech. All iron parts are bright with brass mountings and iron trumpet head ram rod. Mounted with a full one piece walnut stock with contemporary leather sling. There is an inscribed brass oval on the top of the wrist. The first two lines are"JAMES ?" and the last two read "July 27 / 1805". Complete with an Enfield sword bayonet with a 19 1/4" blade marked "ENFIELD" and "crown/GR".

This is an example of a British military Brown Bess musket of the Revolutionary War Period. The lock is marked "HENSHAW" ahead of the hammer, there is a "crown/W" directly below the flash pan and "1779", and a heart shape with the letters "V","E","I" and "C" inside behind the hammer. The is a "VII" on the left rear of the barrel and an unrecognizable marking on the top. Iron hammer, frizzen, spring and pan, and brass mountings. Mounted with a full length stock with brass forend cap, sling swivel on the front of the forearm and trigger guard, and replacement iron ram rod. The same heart shape marking that's on the lock is also on the right side of the buttstock.

British Tower Marked Flintlock Musket

This is an example of an iron mounted musket made by the British for trade. Bayonet lug front sight and no rear sight, with the only visible marking "TOWER" on the lock behind the hammer. Iron mountings, iron button head ramrod and full straight grip walnut stock secured by with three barrel bands and flat iron buttplate.

Condition: Good. An uneven patina is present on the once polished barrel with scattered discoloration, some mild pitting and flash pitting at the breech. The remaining metal parts have a smooth mottled gray patina. The stock is fine with a small minor crack ahead of the lock and overall scattered minor scratches, dents and dings. There is signs of some light sanding in areas. The action is fine.

Fine London Barbar Marked Brass Barreled Blunderbus with Snap Bayonet

Establishing himself in London circa 1688, Louis (aka Lewis) Barbar was an expatriate French Huguenot who would later become armorer to the Kings George I and II, with his work continued by his son, James Barbar, following Louis' death in 1741. Cannon style muzzle, with "Barber London" on the top flat, a pair of crossed scepter proofs on the upper left, light engraving around the breech and a 10 3/4" triangular spike bayonet with spring loaded hinge and a sliding latch on the tang. The lock and hammer are lightly border engraved, with "Barbar" ahead of the hammer, floral engraving on the trigger guard, and an engraved and pierced-through brass reverse plate. Smooth stock, with horn and screw tips on the ramrod, straight wrist, and a flat brass buttplate with engraved flags and drum on the heel. Overall length is 29 1/2 inches.

Condition: Fine. The brass components show a fine aged color, darker in the low areas, with a crack and a bend in the rear of the triggerguard. Stock is also fine, with a few cracks, pressure dents and scuffs. Mechanically fine including the snap bayonet.

C. Williamson Marked Queen Anne Flintlock Pistol

This particular Queen Anne pistol maker has the unusually shaped frizzen spring behind the pan. The position of C. Williamson's maker marking, below this frizzen spring is low on the frame. In addition to the "C * WILLIAMSON" marking, there are three recessed proofs "crown / P", "TH" and "crown / V" directly ahead of the trigger guard. The barrel is tapered with a cannon muzzle and floral engraving at the breech end. The iron trigger guard has a simple engraved design. The grip features silver wire inlays and silver overlays with a grotesque face on the butt.

Condition: Good. The metal surfaces have a smooth dark patina with a few minor dents in the barrel. The grip is good with a small gouge on the upper left side, a few minor dents, about 30% of the wire inlay remaining and the silver overlays have an aged patina. The hammer doesn't hold at full cock and needs work. The markings and engraving are clear.

London Smith Screw Barrel Flintlock Pistol with Snap Bayonet

Produced without sights, with "SMITH LONDON" marked on top of the barrel and two "crown/ crossed scepter" proofs on the underside of the chamber. Center mounted hammer, with sliding safety, floral and scroll engraving on the sides, a belt hook on the left and a folding trigger. Mounted to the left side of the muzzle is a 2 5/8" triangular spike bayonet with single fullers and spring loaded latch, with the retainer mounted on the frame. Bag shaped checkered walnut grips, with a silver inscription panel on the rear.

Condition: Good, with a mixed gray patina on the metal, showing scattered spotting and handling marks. Minor pitting is visible around the flashpan. Grips are fair as repaired, with chips absent and pressure dents. A screw is absent from the top of the frame, otherwise mechanically excellent including the snap bayonet.

A) Brass construction, in the Queen Anne style with a box lock action. Barrel is unmarked, with a polished-down wrench lug on the underside. Brass frame with steel fittings, with bunting style engraving around "Liverpool" and "Elias/ Joseph" on the right and left sides, respectively, along with a set of "crown/ V" and "crown/ GP" London proofs on the underside, light border engraved tangs and a tang mounted half-cock safety. Smooth bag shaped grip, with an unmarked silver inscription oval on top.

Condition: Very good. An aged patina is forming in the protected areas, with a lightly draw filed and polished barrel and scattered dents and handling marks. Grip is very good, with moderate cracks, chips and dents. Mechanically very good.
