Rare Documented WWII Nazi Belt Buckle Pistol with Rare Gold Eagle

Lot # 1715 (Sale Order: 713 of 1039)

Rare Documented WWII Nazi Belt Buckle Pistol with Rare Gold Eagle
Estimate: $15000 - $25000
This is an excellent example of a very unique and rare WWII Nazi escape device in the form of a four barrel Nazi Belt Buckle firing pistol. It is theorized that this device was developed as some kind of a last ditch escape device that would be used by high ranking SS, Army officers or Nazi party members to evade capture by the Americans or Russians. The original design was the product of inventor Louis Marquis, who supposedly came up with the idea for this design while interned in a WWI POW camp. As an engineer and inventor, Marquis refined his original design after his release and in 1943 reportedly received an order to make examples for Himmler's SS. The front of the belt buckle has a large gold washed aluminum Nazi Army eagle affixed to it. Normally these eagles are the natural aluminum silver color. This is the first Nazi gold eagle the writer has seen on one of these buckles. According to page 31 of "Inside The Third Reich Memoirs" by Albert Speer, Hitler was the only member of the Nazi Party to wear the gold "badge of sovereignty", the eagle with the swastika in its talons. Everyone else wore the round party badge. The device operates by depressing a small lever on the right underside of the device which allows the belt buckle cover to spring open. Then the firer depress two levers at the right end of the belt buckle which allows the four-steel integral barrels (numbered 2 on the underside) to spring out into the fully cocked position. Firing is easily accomplished by just depressing one of four levers on the right side of the buckle to fire each barrel individually. Fairly simple device in operation with a very complicated design to manufacture. It is accompanied by a "Certificate of Authenticity" dated July 2005, from John Gangel stat...

Unique H. Himmler "SS" Damascus Blade Letter Opener with Johnson Authenticity Letter

Lot # 1716 (Sale Order: 714 of 1039)

Unique H. Himmler "SS" Damascus Blade Letter Opener with Johnson Authenticity Letter
Estimate: $4000 - $6000
This is an example of a unique Damascus blade "Heinrich Himmler" presentation letter opener, that is accompanied with an authenticating letter. This item is accompanied by a signed and notarized letter of authentication dated March 1998, from LTC (ret) Thomas M. Johnson, certainly the most noted authority and author on several books of collecting WWII Edged weapons. In this letter he states that this is certainly an original 1933-1945 handmade letter opener produced by the Master Swordsmith Paul Mueller in Solingen Germany. Certainly, Solingen, Germany was the center for any edged weapons made during WWI and WWII. LTC Johnson notes that this letter opener has a number of positive features; 1)the blade is Turkish Damascus, easily distinguished by the four panels of Damascus steel. This was the common medium of steel work perfected by Paul Mueller and his apprentice Robert Kurten. 2) The "H. Himmler" gold signature facsimile on the blade and round "SS" rune button on the ebony handle, both show considerable wear contributing to the authentication of this letter opener as being original. 3) The entire letter opener is characteristic of the work as produced by Master Swordsmith Paul Mueller during the 1930s. The Damascus blade shows the four panel on each side, with the clear "H. Himmler" signature on one side of the blade with "ECHT DAMAST/P. MUELLER" on the other side. Due to the uniqueness of this item, this was quite possibly in the hands of H. Himmler at some point in its history.

Exceptional WWII Nazi Krieghoff 1937 Luger Pistol with Matching Magazine

Lot # 1727 (Sale Order: 725 of 1039)

Exceptional WWII Nazi Krieghoff 1937 Luger Pistol with Matching Magazine
Estimate: $6500 - $11000
This is a beautiful example of a 1937 dated Luftwaffe contract Krieghoff pistol. These early Krieghoff lugers have the typical high polish commercial blue finish with the straw colored small parts with the distinctive brown checkered grips. The Krieghoff luger was the only officially inspected, accepted, and approved Luger that was used by the Luftwaffe throughout WWII. The total numbers of Krieghoff pistols actually produced for the Luftwaffe during WWII are estimated at approximately 13,000, with only 2500 total produced in 1937. Which makes the survival rate of these pistols extremely low in comparison to the standard WWII luger pistol. The top of the chamber area has the 1937 date with the " H-K anchor/Krieghoff/Suhl" logo on front toggle. The right side of the barrel extension and left side of the barrel has the early drooped-wing Luftwaffe Eagle firing proof next to the double "Eagle/2" acceptance proof, which is also located on the front edge of the frame rail. The underside of the barrel has the full serial number, along with the Eagle/2 proof and the bore diameter. It is serial numbered in the military style with the full serial number on the barrel and barrel extension, frame and magazine, with the last two digits of the serial number on the small parts such as the side plate, the breech bolt and the side of the toggle assembly. The extractor and ejector are marked "GELADEN" and "GESICHERT" respectively. It is complete with one original and matching Krieghoff nickel plated magazine with the aluminum base that carries the pistol serial number and a small Eagle/2 proof.
BBL: 4 inch round
Stock:
Gauge: 9 mm Luger
Finish: blue
Grips: brown plastic checkered
