Fine Pair of French Flintlock Pocket Pistols with Silver Fittings
A) French Flintlock Pocket Pistol

Estimate: $2500 - $5000
Produced without sights, no visible markers markings. The barrel is fitted with a cannon muzzle and decorative ribs, and the lock plate is unadorned with a detachable steel flash pan and leaf tip to the frizzen spring. Smooth one piece pistol grip stock, with a silver tipped horn ramrod, raised floral and arms themed designs on the trigger guard and reverse plate and silver wire scroll inlay around the tang and lion head buttcap.

Condition: Fine overall, with a bright appearance to the steel and areas of dark patina on the silver components, with light handling marks overall. The trigger guard is slightly loose. Stock is also fine, with mild pressure dents and scratches. Mechanically fine.

Pair of Unmarked Engraved French Flintlock Pistols
A) French Flintlock Pistol

Estimate: $2000 - $4000
This lot consists of two nearly identical engraved French flintlock pistols. The pistol has a smooth bore barrel manufactured without sights, with the top and upper flats of the octagon section and at the muzzle featuring a floral and dot engraving. The barrel engraving including the proof on the left side at the breech was highlighted in gold. The lock plate has an engraved border accented with scrollwork behind the hammer which is also engraved. The border engraved side plate features scrollwork flanking a floral blossom. An additional floral blossom appears on the trigger guard with chiseled finial. Full length stock with buttcap, ornate thumb shield, and carving around the trigger guard and upper tang. The buttcap features a line engraving and is fitted with an engraved oval disc. Complete with a swelled horn tipped wooden ramrod.

A) Goodwin London Flintlock Pistol

Active circa 1770-1820, George Goodwin was a gunsmith with shops in both London and Birmingham. Fixed blade and notch sights, with an engraved tang, "-LONDON-" on the top flat, and a set of 3 proof stamps on the upper left flat. Light engraving on the lock plate, with "G. GOODWIN/ & Co." below the flash pan and fitted with a frizzen spring roller and a half-cock safety. Smooth full length stock, with a horn tipped ramrod, a fine tiger stripe grain pattern, small silver inscription plate on the wrist and a rounded butt.

Produced without sights, with the Liege proof on the lower left side of the breech, "LEPAGE" on the right side of the frame, "A PARIS" on the left, and an engraving of a fruit bowl on the underside. 4 1/2 inch overall length. The hammer is checkered, with a smooth folding trigger and checkered one piece bag shaped grip with floral patterns near the frame. In a brass accented rosewood veneered case with blue velvet lined French cut interior, with spaces for the pistols, a combination bullet mold and barrel wrench, and an ebony cap box, and a pair of lidded compartments.

Cased Engraved Pair of European Percussion Muff Pistols with Accessories
A) European Percussion Pistol

This lot consists of two identical engraved European percussion pistols with a case and accessories. The frame features an extensive scroll engraving on a matte background with a Liege ELG proof on the left side and a "crown/L.F." proof over "1076" in front of the engraved folding trigger. The left side of the rifled barrel has a "crown/F" proof. Scrollwork is also present on the hammer which has a checkered spur. Fitted with a nicely figured varnished walnut one piece grip with an engraved buttcap with compartment. Complete with a leatherette bound case with brass hardware and a scroll motif highlighted in gold on the lid. The interior is lined with red wine velvet. The accessories are the following: nicely figured wooden powder flask and cap box and a single round cavity iron bullet mold numbered to the guns (1076).

Condition: Very good plus. The metal surfaces have been cleaned and beginning to age again, having some minor pitting mostly on the barrel. The engraving is crisp. The grip is fine with the exception of a couple hairline cracks near the upper tang and some minor scratches. The case is fine with some minor wear/loss to the leatherette. The fine interior lining has faded to a brown color with areas of red wine in the protected areas with some minor stains.

This lot consists of two identical engraved and gold inlaid Belgian single shot percussion pistols. The top of the rifled barrel is marked "N.VIVARIO-PLOMNEUR / ABQB DU ROI A LIEGE" inside a wire border, all inlaid in gold. The number "1" is marked on the barrel underside and breech plug. The frame, lock plate, hammer, trigger guard and buttcap feature an extensive scroll engraving with a unique circle and arrow pattern engraving on the bolster. The ebony grip is fluted and has a silver thumb shield. The left side of the grip near the frame is inlaid with a scroll silver wire motif. Complete with a contemporary wooden case lined in brown felt and the following accessories: double face shell design powder flask, single round cavity bullet mold marked with the number "081", and a few rounds.

Condition: Very good. Overall the pistol has a once cleaned smooth gray patina finish on the barrel and traces of the blue remaining on the trigger guard. There is some minor pitting. The grip is fine with a crack near the lock plate and some scattered minor handling marks. The case is a modern replacement. The flask is very fine with most of the lacquer remaining.

Fixed sights, with an engraved upper tang and hammer. Adjustable trigger with brass trigger guard. The full length stock has a checkered pattern on the grip area, two stock wedges with brass escutcheons, two brass ramrod pipes, and a brass inlaid shield on the stock flat. A brass reinforcing strip appears on the back of the grip area, extending to the lion head brass buttcap. Complete with a wooden ramrod with ivory tip.

With 13 3/4 inch overall length this pistol is marked "T / HUGHES" on the lock and "CORK" on the top barrel flat in a panel with geometric engraved design at the breech end. The brass barrel has a cannon muzzle, light scroll engraving at the breech and recessed "crown/TH" and "crown/V" proofs on the left rear flat. Decorative brass left side plate, brass trigger guard with engraved flower and decorative finial, light scroll engraving on the rear of the lock and on the hammer and mounted with a full walnut stock with tear drop flats, decorative carving around the barrel tang, grotesque face brass butt cap and decorative brass thumb shield. Complete with a wooden ramrod with contrasting tip.

This is an example of a French Cavalry Model year XIII Flintlock Pistol. (refer to page 80 of French Military Weapons by Major James E. Hicks). Charleville markings are present on the lock plate along with a proofmark and the lock has a debatable brass flash pan. The left side of the barrel at the breech is dated 1807. Manufactured without sights, with brass mountings, an iron backstrap that extends from the tang to the brass buttcap, and an iron belt hook attached to the left side of the stock. Most of the components are stamped with various proofs with the letters "T:C" stamped upside down on the side plate. No visible markings on the stock. Complete with an iron ramrod with swelled tip.

This lot consists of two French side by side flintlock pistols. Both lock plates are script marked "Moriscau / A Paris" under the flash pan and have a floral engraving behind the floral engraved hammers. Floral engraving is also present on the upper tang, frizzen, and trigger guard, with a large floral blossom engraved on the buttcap. Traces of a gold highlighted engraving remaining on the breech end of the barrels. The upper tang has a dished out rear sight, with a front bead sight on the solid rib, and hammer safeties. Full length stock with flared butt, multi-point checkering in the grip area, single stock wedge, and an oval initial plate behind the upper tang. Complete with a wooden ramrod with horn tip.

Condition: About good. The metal surfaces have been cleaned and are now aging again with some minor pitting (mostly on the barrels). The stock is very good with a few missing minor chips and a few minor cracks (right side of forearm), along with some minor dings and scratches. There is some minor bruising/wear in the overall crisp checkering. The once crudely repaired right hammer is separated with the top jaw included. This needs a professional to make a better repair.

Mounted with a full smooth walnut stock with a wooden ramrod with a swelled head and flat brass tip.

Unmarked Relief Chiseled, Silver Mounted Highly Ornate Middle Eastern Flintlock Pistol

This highly ornate rat tail flintlock pistol features relief engraving on the breech end of the barrel, a relief engraved silver band securing the stock to the barrel, silver mountings, silver and pink semi-precious stone inlays on the forward portion of the stock, on the left flat and underside ahead of the trigger guard, and silver wire inlays on the balance. Just ahead of the left flat is silver inlay untranslated script. There is a silver ramrod pipe on the muzzle end followed by a solid 8" silver pipe. Mounted with a full one piece walnut stock with decorative silver buttcap with pink stone. A 5" section of the ramrod is present with 3" wrapped in silver. The overall length of this pistol is 23 3/4".

Condition: Very good. The barrel, lock and hammer have a smooth gray patina. The silver has been polished at some time and most remains bright. The otherwise very good stock cracked 3" from the muzzle and it and the front ramrod pipe are loose. The silver in that area is also broken, but intact. The stock also has a few minor nicks and a small portion of the silver absent just ahead of the left side flat, otherwise the silver inlays and stones remain intact. The action needs work, it has to be manually decocked.

This is an example of a British Tower percussion pistol with a belt hook attached to the left side of the stock. The left rear of the barrel is marked with numerous crown over letter and number proofs, there is a "crown/ B / 8" marked on the belt hook and the lock is marked "crown / VR / TOWER 1849" ahead of the hammer and there is the number "23" at the front of the lock. Brass trigger guard, flat brass stock forend plate, iron swivel ramrod with button tip and stamped "T&C. G", fixed sights and mounted with a full walnut stock with "G.W. ALLEN" stamped on the left flat, a "P/11", the number "2" and an 1866 dated cartouche on the right side of the grip area and a broad arrow over 30 on the left side.

Condition: Very fine. The barrel retains 75% plus of the original brushed military arsenal blue finish with signs of some light cleaning. There are a few minor chips, a couple of chips around the rear of the lock, and overall scattered minor scratches, dents and dings. The action is fine.

This matched pair of Edward Dodson percussion pistol feature blue screw on octagon barrels engraved "DODSON LOUTH" on the top flat and with a cross scepter proof on the lower left flat. In addition the other pistol is marked with the number "1", on the bottom barrel flat and bottom of the frame. The German silver frame has light floral scroll engraving. The sides of the hammer had light scroll engraving and the upper portion is engraved in a fish motif. The muzzle of the barrel has a feather design. The bottom of the frame is marked with a crossed scepter proof. Post front and notch rear sights, folding trigger and fitted with a one piece checkered walnut grip with German silver thumb oval. Edward Dodson was a gun maker from 1840 to 1857 in Louth County. The pair is complete in a walnut case with green baize lining. There is a brass disk inset in the lid and brass corner protectors and reinforcements. The label affixed to the inside of the lid is a computer generated copy. (consignor info). In the case is a nickel Dixon oiler, wooden handled screwdriver, nipple wrench and ramrod with jag, nickel powder flask, empty Eley Bros. cap tin, bullet mold and approximately 13 lead balls.

A pair of crossed scepter proofs are present on the underside ahead of the folding trigger, with a lightly engraved flash pan and frizzen, a border design on the hammer, and a sliding safety. Checkered one piece bag shaped grips with an octagonal brass inscription plate.

Engraved brass frame, with scrollwork on the top, sides and hammer, and a fish head design on top of the hammer. Checkered bag shaped grips, with a brass inscription plate on the rear. With a brass reinforced hardwood case, showing a fancy brass inscription plate on top of the lid, J. Venables label inside the lid, and a green felt lined interior holding a brass powder flask/ bullet carrier, one cavity mold with cutter, screwdriver, cleaning rod and an Eley Brothers cap tin.

This flintlock infantry musket appears to be a model 1763 and was produced at the Maubeuge Arsenal in France. The lock is script marked "Maubeuge / Manuf [illegible]" in front of the hammer. The letter "V" is stamped on the left side of the barrel at the breech. Blade front sight on the front barrel band, bayonet lug on the underside of the barrel, 3 barrel bands, 2 sling swivels, and an iron ramrod with a button head. With a socket bayonet (does not fit this musket).

Smooth straight grip stock with brass forearm tip, ramrod pipes, trigger guard, reverse plate and butt, an iron ramrod with a button tip, and two sling swivels. The buttplate heel is marked "L-H 383" and "N /G17". "L-H 383" is also marked on top of the barrel. A crown/B proof is stamped on the left stock flat and illegible markings are stamped on the right side of the buttstock. With a socket bayonet (does not fit the musket).

This is a superb example of a very ornate massive Japanese matchlock, probably made for royalty. The heavy barrel gauges at 70 caliber and features extensive silver inlaid decorations of fish, mountains and foliage. The fish have gold inlaid eyes and at the breech end are gold inlaid Japanese characters in a panel with a silver inlaid line border. The top of the barrel is fitted with sighting blocks which have gold inlay on two of the four corners. The muzzle end of the barrel is flared and octagon with gold inlaid band around the muzzle and simple line patterns. It is fitted with a large blade front sight. The mountings are brass and are also inlaid with silver in simple scroll designs. The hammer is decorated in the same manner. The stock is varnished hardwood.

The overall profile of this weapon is Persian or Middle Eastern in design, particularly in the curvature of the stock and layout of the barrel, with the lock plate appearing to have been salvaged from an English musket. Bead front sight and peep rear sight, with a flared and engraved cannon muzzle, engraved and silver inlaid punch dot and checkerboard patterns, an unclear inscription on tip and a series of six brass barrel bands. The lock plate is marked "HARRISON" between the hammer and flash pan, with "1800" and the symbol of the East India Company to the rear of the hammer. Smooth stock with an engraved metal ramrod, brass clad forearm, sharply curved buttstock with bone and horn geometric inlays and a thick horn buttplate. A brown leather sling is mounted to the forearm with a pair of swivels.

The sword has a bone handle, gold washed guard, quillions, and 35 inch double fuller, single edge blade with flat back. The guard and lower third of the blade are etched with Arabian scroll work with gold wash. The sword has a cloth covered wooden scabbard with brass throat suspension rings and drag. The base of the grip and the scabbard throat and drag are decorated with enamel inlaid oriental designs.

Produced during the 1800s, this unique percussion pistol features a frame and three barrels made from one solid piece of brass. Outfitted with cannon muzzles, a single tapered cone sight is mounted in line with the center hammer, and a ramrod is secured with pipes to the underside. The left side bears an indistinct proof or maker's mark. On top of the frame is a blue steel lock plate, with the three hammers and three triggers, with the right trigger straight and the middle and left triggers curved for ease of access. Checkered one piece bag shaped grip, with sunburst designs near the frame, checkering on the sides and a series of Japanese characters running down the back. These characters or symbols are custom stampings which are often found on Japanese weapons, including imports, suggesting this arm was produced in Europe and later brought into Japan.

Exact date of production is unknown, but the prominence of the hollyhock mon of the Tokugawa Shogunate on both metal and wood suggests it was made during the 1600-1868 timeframe of the Shogunate's dominance of Japanese affairs. Post front and groove rear sights, with the cannon muzzle finished in hammered silver and engraved through the silver in key spiral patterns, and the main section showing a gold and silver inlaid dragon in flight amongst silver clouds, three lines of gold Japanese text on the top flats, and a gold Tokugawa mon immediately ahead of the rear sight. The brass lock work is also silver finished, with internal spring and sear, a round knob trigger and a hinged pan cover. Smooth hardwood stock with brass furniture, a hardwood ramrod and a set of 5 gold painted Tokugawa mons, two on either side of the forearm and the largest atop the wrist.

Stock is fine as refinished, with a mended crack on the right side of the forearm, light pressure dents, and most of the professionally restored gold lacquer, most wear happening on the high points of the wrist. Match arm is slightly loose and slips the sear, otherwise mechanically fine.

Date and location of production for this interesting matchlock pepperbox are unknown, but most likely is of Japanese manufacture. Six-shot barrel group, with a series of decorative cuts at the breech area. The frame is accented with a pair of bronze bands at the front, with starburst patterns around the match hole and a crescent moon shaped trigger, which is squeezed vertically to drop the top mounted match arm. No other mechanism is included; barrel rotation and alignment are performed by hand. Fitted with a one piece smooth birds head grip, with a set of teardrop shaped brass escutcheons on each side, with a six pointed star around a lanyard hole on each side.

No maker markings but a "crown/S" proof is present on the front of the cylinder and a Liege ELG proof and "crown/T" proof present between two chambers. Inverted "V" front sight with hammer notch rear sight. The frame (including the recoil shields and loading gate) is brass and was likely silver or nickel plated. The sides of the frame and the cylinder exhibit a scroll and leaf engraving on a matte background, with a dot engraving on the recoil shield edges and on the cylinder at the rear. A geometric line engraving is featured on the backstrap and on the barrel at the breech, with the left side of the barrel lug having a floral engraving. The ornate butt is engraved with a scalloped line and dot motif. An iron ejector rod with brass head is mounted on the right side. The pistol has a folding trigger. Fitted with burled walnut two piece grips. Matching one digit serial number on the frame under the left grip, rear cylinder face, and on both grips.

The only visible marking on this revolver is a "crown/L" proofmark on the front cylinder face and a "crown/G" on the side. An oval Liege (ELG) proof is also present on the cylinder. The breech end of the barrel has silver wire inlays with gold dots and the muzzle end has alternating gold and silver dots (most absent). The cylinder is engraved with floral designs in oval panels with gold dots in the center, silver and gold wire designs and silver dots (most absent) around the front and rear edge of the design. The frame and backstrap are engraved with floral scroll designs. Dovetailed pinched front blade sight, hammer notch rear sight, ejector rod mounted on the right side of the frame, folding trigger and fitted with smooth two piece ivory grips. Complete in a canvas covered wooden case adorned with brass tacks and red velvet lining. There is a leather carrying handle on the back.

The frame retains 70% soft original case colors, mainly in protected areas, with a smooth gray patina on the balance. The hammer shows half of the original case colors with a smooth gray on the balance. The grips have had the escutcheon removed on right grip (and reinstalled chipping varnish) and remain very fine with most remaining, and showing some minor wear and chips on the lower edges, and a few minor dents overall. The engraving and markings are clear. The action is fine. The case is fine with a few minor age cracks and dings and the lining shows some minor contact wear and staining.

The barrel, cylinder, frame, and ejector rod are brass with the remaining parts iron. There are no maker markings but a "crown/V" proof and a Belgian Liege "ELG" proof are stamped on the cylinder. An additional "crown/V" proof is stamped near the ejector rod which is mounted on the right side. The number "26" is marked on the left side of the frame under the grip panel, with the number "25" on the reverse. "26" is also marked on the back of both grips. The front of the cylinder features an alternating scroll engraving and geometric engraving. The edges of the recoil shields and loading gate feature dot engraving and the top barrel flat has leaf type engraving. Fixed front sight, folding trigger and checkered grips. Complete with a rare pipe case lined in purple velvet and silk.

The lock plate is marked "W THOMPSON". The stock has checkering in the grip area, a single stock wedge with German silver escutcheons, and a German silver initial oval behind the upper tang. Complete with a brass tipped ebony ramrod.

These Francotte target pistols were made for a dealer in South America and are marked "FAIT POUR E. BARRIE CALLE RIVADAVIA 507 BUENOS AYRES" on the upper right barrel flat and "A. FRANCOTTE BTE A LIEGE" on the upper left flat. 14 3/4 inch overall length. The inside of the trigger guard is marked "10". The barrel is equipped with a windage adjustable front sight and elevation adjustable rear sight, and an extractor. Side lever action break mounted on the underside of the frame, double set triggers, finger spur on the trigger guard, blue barrel and break lever, polished hammer and casehardened remaining parts, and mounted with a checkered walnut forearm and grip with an iron buttcap with decorative stud. Complete in a wooden case with purple stain and velvet lining, and a small nickel oiler.

Condition: Fine. The forearm and grip are ill-fitting to the frame and the forend insert is absent, otherwise the wood is very good with only a couple of minor pressure dents and handling marks, and crisp checkering. The markings are legible. The action is fine. The case is very good with a few minor scratches and scuffs on the exterior, some staining on the satin lining in the lid and sun faded velvet lining showing a couple of tears and a broken compartment wall (still intact).

This is an example of an ornate English percussion pistol made for the Eastern Trade. 16 1/2 inches in length, the top barrel flat is marked "London" and has floral vine gold inlay on the upper flats with two gold inlaid bands around the breech plug. The lock, barrel tang and hammer are engraved with fine scroll designs and the lock is marked in Old English script, "J Child". The barrel is equipped with a solid under rib, wooden ramrod with silver tip, silver blade front and fixed iron rear sights. The stock is beautifully decorated with silver wire inlays and decorative patriotic motif relief carved silver mountings. Complete in a wooden case with purple velvet lining, wooden cleaning rod with silver end, wooden handled screwdriver, powder flask and bullet iron mold.

Condition: Very good. The barrel has a smooth brownish gray patina with some minor pitting. All gold inlays remain with the floral vine design having faded in color a bit. The stock has been cleaned and remains very good with a minor hairline crack on the right front and overall a few minor dings and handling marks. All of the wire inlay in the stock is intact with only a very small area behind the tang that has come loose. The silver has been polished and most retains a bright appearance. The markings and engraving are clear. The action needs some work the hammer stops at half-cock when the trigger is pulled and fully decocks on a second pull. The barrel is equipped with fixed sights and has a band of engraving at the muzzle. The ejector rod has an ivory head. A fine relief vine and leaf engraving is present on the short octagon barrel section, the cylinder, the rear of the recoil shields and loading gate, the sides of the frame, and the backstrap, with a scroll engraving on the trigger guard and butt. The edges of the recoil shields and loading gate are also engraved.

B) National Arms Teat-Fire Front Loading Revolver
Manufactured from 1864 to 1870 by the Moore's Patent Firearms Company and the National Arms Company Brooklyn, New York. This particular revolver is marked "NATIONAL ARMS CO. BROOKLYN, N.Y." on top of the barrel and the rear edge of the cylinder is marked "D. WILLIAMSON'S PATENT JUNE 5 - MAY 17, 1864". Blue barrel and cylinder and silver plated brass frame without the hooked extractor mounted on the right side and the standard floral scroll and punch dot engraving. Brass blade front and hammer notch rear sights and fitted with checkered two piece walnut grips. Approximately 20,000 revolver were made in this configuration.

Blued with straw colored hammer, trigger, and loading gate. Fitted with checkered grips and a lanyard loop on the butt.

The left side of the frame is marked "BRASHER" in an oval surrounded by a flag and drum motif and the right side is marked "LONDON" in an oval surrounded by a flag motif. The three barrels are positioned two on top and one below in the center. Each as a feather design engraved on the muzzle and numbered 1 to 3 at the breech with corresponding number marked on the frame. The underside of the frame is marked with a recessed "crown/P" and "crown/V". Tap action with sliding hammer safety and hockey stick shaped smooth one piece grip. Complete in a wooden case with brass handle on the lid, five compartments with green felt lining, a powder flask, iron bullet mold, and wood and horn brush.

A) Brass Liege Proofed Percussion Pistol

The barrel and frame are one piece brass with a left side and top plate and gold gilded. The barrel has a cannon muzzle and a rib 1 inch behind the muzzle. The left rear of the barrel is marked with the oval Liege proofmark and the serial number is marked on the lower tang. The hammer is bright and the trigger guard was finished blue. Fitted with smooth one piece bag shaped grip. Complete in a wooden case marked "BOSTON" on the lid, with black velvet lining, wooden ramrod, powder flask, a brass container with round lead bullets and a hard rubber cap holder with screw on lid. There is a short handwritten note from the consignor stating that these Belgium pistols, serial numbered 6116 and 6117 in Boston box were purchased at the Edward G. Robinson estate auction in Sarasota, Florida in 1972. Edward G. Robinson was in movies from 1916 to 1973 playing a variety of characters, but was best known for his roles as a tough guy gangster. Robinson died at age 79 in Los Angeles, California in January, 1973 of cancer.

A dogs head is engraved on the side of the hammer, with the lock showing a scroll accented scene of a crane snatching a snake out of a tree and feathered designs on the frizzen and frizzen spring. The stock is made from very fancy maple wood, equipped with a brass tipped ramrod, floral engraved ramrod pipe, scrollwork and a grotesque face on the trigger guard, raised and pierced-through scroll reverse plate with a devil head design, raised carvings around the lock, tang and furniture, and an engraved brass buttplate. The layout of the grain shows an attractive tiger stripe pattern on the wrist and a cat's eye burl pattern on the butt.

The upper tang has a floral engraving. The floral border engraved lock plate is faintly marked "W. JEWELL" with a bird game scene engraved behind the hammer. The straight grip half-stock has a checkered wrist, thumb shield, and a German silver forend cap.

Engraved Klawitter Double Barrel Side by Side Percussion Shotgun From the Collection of Legendary Country Singer Johnny Cash

This percussion shotgun has the distinction of once belonging to legendary country singer Johnny Cash (February 26, 1932-September 12, 2003). Included are two letters and a photo of this shotgun signed by Johnny Cash attesting to the fact that this shotgun was indeed in his collection. A third letter signed by his secretary Kelly Hancock states that she was present and witnessed Cash sign the photo and letter. The shotgun has a single brass bead front sight on a solid rib with Damascus barrels. The fish sculpted hammers feature a scroll engraving and are equipped with hammer stops. The lock plates are engraved with field scenes with the left plate marked "HERZBERG" and the right plate marked "KLAWITTER". August Franz Klawitter (1824-1893) was the court gun maker for the king of Hannover. The scroll trigger guard is engraved with a rabbit in a field scene and the top of the frame has a dog grasping a bird. Smooth forearm and checkered straight grip stock with sling swivels and an iron buttplate marked "2004".

Fitted with a dovetailed blade front and notch rear sights, with provisions for a sight on top of the wrist. The lock is nicely engraved with deer in a forest scene and marked "E. BLANCKE IN NAUMBURG a/S." around the rear of the hammer. The hammer, barrel tang and breech plug are engraved with floral scroll designs and a maiden in a mountain scene is also engraved on the upper portion of the barrel tang. There are two gold inlaid bands around the breech end of the Damascus barrel. The upper hammer is decorated in a fish head motif. Brown barrel and casehardened remaining parts with a replacement decorative brass trigger guard. The rifle is equipped with a safety mounted just ahead of the hammer and double set triggers. The safety and screw are also engraved with scroll and floral designs. The rifle is mounted with a full one piece straight grip stock with a horn forend cap and buttplate, and patch box with sliding wooden lid decoratively carved. The wrist area has skip line checkering with floral designs and numerous small silver studs, and the forearm has a carved animals head with ebony and ivory eyes with the ramrod going into the animals mouth. The cheekpiece has floral scroll carving at the rear. The trigger guard plate has a decorative engraved finial. The stock is fitted with sling swivels and wooden ramrod.

The rifled barrel gauges at approximately .44 percussion and the smoothbore barrel gauges at approximately 410 gauge. The lock plates have scroll engraving. Double set triggers and fixed sights on the rifled barrel. The crescent buttplate and spur trigger guard are brass. Curly maple straight grip stock with patch box. This medium frame, double-action, six-shot, under-hammer, percussion pepperbox was sold by the firm of Orison Blunt and John G. Syms in New York City in the 1830-1850 period. The pistol has a blued barrel group, with deep flutes, frame and grip strap with casehardened ring trigger and bag-shaped two piece floral scroll engraved silver grips. The receiver is engraved with simple scroll and floral designs and the top of the frame is marked "BLUNT & SYMS / NEW YORK". There are no other visible markings on the gun. Complete in a wooden case with red velvet lining, a iron bullet mold, brass charger and key.

The frame under the grip and each grip panel is marked "106", the hammer spring, inside of the trigger guard and breech end of the barrels is marked "10C". Blue barrels and shield and casehardened remaining parts. Complete with a partitioned wooden case with maroon velvet lining, which holds a leather wrapped brass flask, brass bullet mold, cleaning rod and about 15 round and conical lead bullets.

An eight shot, 22 caliber revolver, with a single shot 32 rimfire barrel resting below, doubling as the cylinder pin and a pivoting striker on the hammer. Blade front sight, with "MONARCH" on the latch. The barrel, latch and cylinder are engraved in zig zag and punch dot patterns, with the frame decorated with scroll designs. A gold wash is visible in the cylinder flutes. Checkered hard rubber grips. Matching numbers are present on the barrel lug, cylinder and frame.

With a page from the publication "World of the 22.", author unknown, which features pictures of a near-identical pistol. Definitely of 20th Century manufacture, and subject to Curio and Relic handgun status.

Condition: Fine, with a mixed patina on the silver components and a mixed brown and gray on the steel, with scattered handling marks and dings. The blade is fine and is full dimension. The grips are fine, with a few mild pressure dents and a rivet absent from the right panel. Mechanically functions as the hammer spring is strong, but will not stay at full cock. Needs minor work.
