1880s - 1940s Confederate Currency Advertising Notes

Lot # 9 (Sale Order: 9 of 266)

No, these aren't real Confederate bills, they're wonderful, vintage advertising items that are finely printed in the form of Confederate States of America $5 - $10 - $20 and $100 notes. In the years just after the civil War many enterprising entrepreneurs gathered up examples of Confederate currency and used them as advertisements. Lithographers who specialized in producing advertising trade cards and the like also made facsimiles of the popular Confederate notes with printed (rather than ink-stamped) advertising on the reverse side. The "notes" offered here are examples of these facsimiles. Each measures approx. 7-3/8" x 3-1/4" and is printed on a delicate paper stock that does resemble the paper used to print bank notes / paper money of the period....more

Lot # 18 (Sale Order: 18 of 266)
