STS-1 Emblem Early Pantone Pencil Rendering

Lot # 451 (Sale Order: 452 of 514)      

An original STS-1 mission emblem Pantone Matching System pencil drawing expertly rendered on a 15"x 19" drafting sheet to insure correct colors on the emblem (and indeed it is a 4-color exhaust). The Pantone system is a standardized color matching system so that different manufacturers in different locations can refer to the Pantone colors and reproduce consistent results. The pencil drawing is highly detailed and was obtained from the personal collection of Stanley Jacobsen, a graphic artist at MSC, and department head. STS-9 Columbia Flown Insulation Panel, Large

Lot # 460 (Sale Order: 461 of 514)      

A large 60" long x 25" wide x 1" thick insulator panel, with a slight concave curve, flown aboard the Space Shuttle Columbia during its STS-9 mission in November 1983, and complete with its NASA paperwork. The number on the insulator matches the number on the paperwork. The paperwork reads in section 21 "102" which is Columbia (OV-102) and is dated 2-25-85, which means this insulator was removed after the STS-9 mission readying the shuttle for its next mission in January 1986 (STS-61C). Nice condition. Originally from the Charlie Bell auctions in the year 2000....more

STS-41G Challenger Flown Insulation Panel, Large

Lot # 462 (Sale Order: 463 of 514)      

A large 60" long x 25" wide x 1" thick insulator panel, with a slight concave curve, flown aboard the Space Shuttle Challenger during its STS-41G mission in October 1984, and complete with its NASA paperwork. The number on the insulator matches the number on the paperwork. The paperwork reads in section 21 "099" which is Challenger (OV-099) and is dated 2-25-85, which means this insulator was removed after the STS-41G mission readying the shuttle for its next mission in April 1985 (STS-51B). Russian cosmonaut Sergei Krikalev's 12"x 10"x 3" Comfort Kit flown with him aboard Discovery on its STS-60 mission in 1994. The kit opens up into many compartments and is empty (I checked), and has a 4" patch attached to the outside which is associated with the STS-60 mission. Recovered after the mission by visiting Russians offloading his equipment, and given to a KSC worker as a gift. Excellent condition....more

Frank DeWinne's Flown Elbow Pad, TMA-15 & STS-128

ESA astronaut Frank De Winne's 5.5"x 7.5"x 0.75" cushioned elbow pad which he carried into space with him on his Expedition 21 mission, and was later returned to earth later aboard STS-128 in 2009. An 11"x 14" STS-96 flown SRB flag which flew on the 100th flight of the Solid Rocket Boosters. The certificate is signed by 5 of the 6 astronauts including Rick Husband, who later flew on STS-107 Columbia. The certificate is attractively framed, but has been taped down on the corners with scotch tape, but those can be easily removed with the right glue solvent. Excellent condition otherwise. An STS-105 crew-member's long sleeve shirt of the exact type worn aboard the shuttle by the astronauts during the mission. The shirt is signed by STS-105 astronaut Susan Helms and is a size Large. It has certainly been used due to the sweat stains on the underarms and collar. I don't know, but if this shirt was too big of a size for Helms, or it was not hers, then it no doubt belonged to another of the astronauts....more

STS-112 Flown Florida State Flag With 62 Astronaut Signatures

Lot # 470 (Sale Order: 471 of 514)      

A 16"x 20 presentation containing a 4"x 6" State of Florida flag flown on the Space Shuttle Atlantis on its STS-112 mission in 2002. This was used as a retirement presentation and is signed by what I count is 62 signatures, with the vast majority, if not all, being astronauts. Signatures include Lisa Nowak, Eileen Collins, Ken Bowersox, Barbara Morgan, etc. The matte board has suffered some moisture damage on the left side, but it does not look to have affected the picture, except for a slight wave which will no doubt disappear once the picture is re-matted. Flown SRB Shock Absorber for Forward Separation Bolt

Lot # 471 (Sale Order: 472 of 514)      

A flown section of metallic honeycomb material shock absorber measuring 6" tall by 6" diameter for SRB separation from the External Tank. When the explosive bolt is fired, the SRB side of the bolt explodes back into this shock absorber and the deep indention in the material is in the shape of the nut on the bolt which explosively impacted the material. The ET side has a similar shock absorber but they are all in the Indian Ocean....more
