This magnificent piece of American Brilliant Cut Crystal was produced by T.G.Hawkes & Company of Corning, New York. The Sterling Silver Collar and Top are complete with the Cap. Marked with their trademark, a trefoil ring enclosing a fleur-de-lis and 2 hawks is very clear and easy to see below the handle upon the heal at base. The quilted diamond pattern is very bold and crisp with no high-point wear. The base is also very clean with very little if any wear. The first item is a scalloped edge squared serving bowl bearing the Concord Silver Company Mark having the C/Head/S mark in shield with STERLING Below the mark. Concord Silver Co. was located in Concord, N.H. and was in business from 1925-1942. This bowl weights 112.57 grams or 3.619 Troy Oz. The interior of the bowl has the letter "R' monogrammed in Old English style. The second item is a very fine Powdered Sugar Spoon for which we cannot identify the manufacturer mark area along the back medial rib of the spoon. The bowl has a fancy 5 point star cutout pattern and this item may be silver over copper, although it is soft and pliable like sterling would be. The spoon is monogrammed atop the handle....more

The movement cover is highly engraved "Theo. A.Gauss/July 25th, 1903/Ann Arbor/ Mich. The crystal face cover also is stamped 5289908. 2) Elgin Dial Pocket Watch having a Elgin Nat'l Watch Co. U.S.A. Watch Movement serial#10936510 dating the year of manufacture to 1903.The case is 2 1/8" in diameter. The inside of the movement cover is marked Illinois Watch Case Co. ELGIN/NAPOLEON in Square with the case serial # 1624117. The beveled crystal is clean and the dial has no hairlines. Both movements start working with assistance but stop and may need cleaning. Mid 1800's Rare R.Gleason & Sons Coffee/Tea Set

Lot # 21 (Sale Order: 21 of 160)      

Although we were told this set was coin silver, we believe it to be a combination of pewter and silverplate dating between 1850-1871. The "Indian" mark on the base's is Gleason's mark from Dorchester Massachusetts. Roswell Gleason became a tinworker in 1822 and was listed as a pewterer in 1830. He is extensively noted for his extremely fine quality of craftsmanship. His two sons entered into the partnership prior to 1856 and helped to produce some of the finest table serving ware available in the U.S. After 1850 the firm produced mostly silverplated items with fine decoration. The business closed in 1871. This set includes Master Coffee Pot, Tea Pot, Creamer, Covered Sugar and Open Compote Center Bowl. A most unusual set worthy of your bids. Condition is good to very good overall. R.Gleason's Indian Mark is described in the Encyclopedia of American Silver Manufacturers Book by Schiffer dated 1998 and in the Directory of American Silver, Pewter and Silver Plate Book by Kovel dated 1961....more

1889-1890 B. Stroh Detroit Brewery Beer Tray

You are bidding on a very early piece of Detroit Brewing History. This Brass Tray is from the B. Stroh Brewing Co of Detroit Michigan. The tray is for their Lager Beer. It measures 12" in diameter and is very good condition. The printing is very difficult to photograph because it is not deeply pressed. The tray reads B. Stroh Brewing Co. along the top and Lager Beer around the lower edge. The center is profusely decorated in very fine detail showing the brewery and a horse team pulling a trolley in front of the brewery. The tray is also marked on the upper half with the following words: Detroit, Michigan B. Stroh President, J. Stroh Secy & Treas Offices 275 E Elizabeth St and also marked along lower 1/2 of tray -Annual Capacity 300,000 barrels. The most recent award medal date shown on this tray is 1889 along with 3 other medals dating prior to 1889. There are a few minor spots and no dents or damage to this heavy brass display/serving tray. Original and remains in Near Mint condition measuring 12 3/8" in diameter. ...more

This Goebel Beer Serving Tray measures 12 1/8" in diameter and remains untouched with no touch ups nor waxing. The tray has only 2 pen tip chips on serving area to left of basket holding beer bottles. The outer blue rim is excellent, only the back show outer edge scuffing and a few scratches along the backside. The image is very crisp and the detail is superior.
