Lot consists of a chess board made from Titanic wreck wood by the cable ship Minia's carpenter, William Parker. The Minia was sent out to recover bodies of Titanic victims, but also recovered alot of woddne debris. Parker made several pieces from the recovered wreck wood, including this chess board. Originally at the Manitoba Museum of the Titanic. Approx. 18" x 18". Excellent condition, constructed of inlaid mahogany, walnut, oak, and pine. Other signatures include R.E. Byrd, Amelia Earhart, Nelson Eddy, George Gershwin, Sonja Henie, Norman Rockwell, Lowell Thomas, Secretarial Signed Disney, original sketches (by Don Rose, Morgan Dennis, Johnny Gruelle and ChicYoung) and original poem (Ted Malone) and a hand-written poem which was eventually put to a song by Grace Noel Crowell and others.
