Please Note: All items are sold As-is, Where-is, with no warranties or guarantees, expressed or implied. We DO NOT offer Refunds, Returns or Exchanges. All sales are Final. Listed Artist, Highwaymen Robert L. Lewis, Original Oil on Board, Poinciana Tree

Lot # 43 (Sale Order: 43 of 251)

This is a Desirable Listed Artist Robert L. Lewis, an Original Highwaymen, of a Painted Royal Poinciana Tree on Board. This fantastic piece is full of color, and captures a picturesque Florida scene. The piece measures with frame approximately 13.75” x 11.75” and is signed in the lower right. This is a great opportunity to own a piece of Florida Americana Folk Art at its finest. RL.Lewis is one of the Original Highwaymen of Florida. From AskArt.com A group of young African-American landscape and skyscape painters, these artists painted their way out of the despair awaiting them as workers in Florida citrus groves and packing houses of the 1950s. Original members were James Gibson, Alfred Hair, Harold Newton and Livingston Roberts. The only female member was Mary Ann Carroll. Their major influence was Albert Backus (1906-1991), a white man often referred to as the Dean of Florida painters who had a fanciful formula involving huge cumulus clouds billowing over the ocean. The Highwaymen created hybrid versions of his style, and their work is sometimes characterized as motel art. Typically they painted on inexpensive materials such as Upson board, a roofer's material, and they sold their work out of the trunks of their cars. With paintings still wet, they loaded their vehicles and traveled the state's east coast, selling them door-to-door and store-to-store, in restaurants, offices, courthouses, and bank lobbies. In succeeding decades, however, Highwaymen paintings were consigned to attics and garage sales. Their work has been rediscovered in the mid 1990's, and today is recognized as the work of American folk artists. Please view the photos, or in person carefully to determine the age, condition, and quality of this lot. Please Note: All items are sold As-is, Where-is, with no warranties or guarantees, expressed or implied. We DO NOT offer Refunds, Returns or Exchanges. All sales are Final. Lot # 50 (Sale Order: 50 of 251)

This is an early 5 piece Antique Victorian Silver Plate Tea Service. The three tea/coffee/chocolate pots vary in size. The largest one measures 19.5 inches tall when sitting on its burner stand, 10” wide, and features its original wooden handle. The hinge and mount for this teapot appears to be broken. The second teapot measures just under 10 inches tall and 11 inches at its widest point. This teapot is missing one of its Bakelite handle accent rings. The third teapot measures 8 inches tall and 10 inches at its widest point. This teapot has both of its Bakelite accent rings on its handle however, its spout appears to be damaged. The sugar bowl measures 5.5 inches tall and 8 inches at its widest point. The creamer measures 6 inches tall and 5 inches at its widest point. All pieces have a clear makers mark located on the bottom except for the largest teapot and stand. This is a very impressive looking set, and certainly makes an impression.
