Winchester Model 1885 Low Wall Takedown Rifle

serial #107440, 22 LR, 24" round No. 1 weight barrel with a very good plus to excellent bore. This rifle is in full blued finish and retains about 70% evenly thinning original blue on the barrel which is blending with a smooth brown patina. The action retains about 40% original blue blending with a smooth brown patina with several small impact marks on the right side of the action. The rifle is stocked in fancy checkered American black walnut. The diamonds in the forend checkering appear to be too long for factory checkering while the pistol grip checkering appears factory. The stocks rate about excellent with 90% original finish remaining and with light handling marks. The rifle features a Swiss buttplate which retains about 90% of its original nickel plate. The rifle is sighted with a windgauge front, standard sporting rear and a mid-range Vernier tang mounted peepsight. Factory records confirm the barrel, chambering and takedown but make no mention of the wood being special and lists the trigger as plain. This would make a handy and handsome shooter. Colt Model 1855 First Model Sporting Rifle

serial #380, .36 caliber, 24" round barrel with octagonal breech and a dark bore. This rifle features matching numbers on the barrel, loading lever, plunger, frame and cylinder. This rifle has the early adjustable rear sight mounted in topstrap along with a cleaning rod mounted on left side of barrel. The top of the barrel bears proper standard marking and metal surfaces retain a dark blue/gray patina on barrel and more of a brown patina on frame and cylinder. Barrel markings and serial numbers remain legible. The left side of the barrel has a cleaning rod mounted and the left side of the frame just ahead of cylinder has a Colt's Patent oiler. The oiler looks to be a nicely made, later replacement. The lower tang shows a repair at the frame with the piece to rear of that area appearing to be a replacement. The stock is beautifully shaped and formed and shows nice rich color but when removed it appears to be made of southern pine stained to this color. While this rifle has some apologies, these early Colt revolving rifles are rare and this would make a perfectly acceptable example to fill a hole in a collection. (16889-175) {ANTIQUE}
Colt Model 1855 Revolving Shotgun

serial #233, .75 caliber, 23 1/2" barrel with a dark bore. This revolving shotgun has had a little help over the years but is complete and functions properly. The forend appears to be a nicely made replacement, the triggerguard appears to have been adapted to this gun from another and the buttstock is likely an old quality replacement. Metal surfaces of shotgun bear a brown patina with some scattered light surface oxidation present. The walnut buttstock and forend rate excellent as replaced. The wrist of the stock seems on the thick side, the buttplate has some moderate oxidation and the triggerguard is lightly engraved. The markings on left side of frame and on topstrap remain clear and legible. An affordable example of these unusual Colt firearms. (16889-172) {ANTIQUE}
Colt Model 1855 Revolving Shotgun

serial #917, .75 caliber, 33" barrel with a lightly oxidized bore. This big 10 bore revolving shotgun features the large scroll triggerguard and bears proper markings in topstrap channel, left side of frame and in cylinder flute all of which remain fully legible with the cylinder marks being the lightest but still fully legible The metal surfaces of shotgun bear an even gray brown patina with scattered mostly light pitting which is confined mostly to the topstrap, cylinder and front of frame. The checkered fancy walnut buttstock shows an old repair to what appears to have been a bad break at the wrist and has been refinished. It is currently sound but the topstrap screw is a poor replacement. The small brass tipped forend rates near very good with normal light handling marks and wear commensurate with the balance of the shotgun. A correct style, but likely replacement, ramrod is in place beneath barrel. A nice representative example of these big Colt revolving shotguns. (16889-169) {ANTIQUE}
Fine British Sidelock Double Ejector Rifle By Henry Atkin

serial #948, 303 British, 27" barrels with about very good Metford-rifled bores which show frosting and minor pitting their full length. The barrels are primarily a pleasing dark gray-brown with fading to the pewter gunmetal beneath, showing scattered oxidation staining and some light handling marks. They are maker marked on their tops near the breech "Henry Atkin (From Purdey's)" and "2 Jermyn St., Haymarket London". They show light engraving at the breeches and on the dolls head extension. The frame and lockplates are very lightly borderline engraved with the frame retaining perhaps 20% original color case-hardening, the lockplates much stronger retaining about 75% each. The opening lever is primarily now pewter with the triggerguard showing some generous traces of bright blue on the bow. The underside of the barrel flats are marked "303" and "38 Grains Rifleite" showing provisional, view and blackpowder proofs. The checkered pistolgrip English walnut buttstock features a rounded left side shadow line cheekpiece and dropper points at the rears of the lock flats. The buttstock rates very good overall and is now devoid of finish but shows some very nice grain figure. There are a few minor cracks where the wood meets the frame and there is some shrinkage evident here as well which has left small gaps. There is a German silver monogram plate along the toeline which is un-engraved and a lightly engraved steel pistolgrip cap which is now a mottled gray case-hardened patina. The length of pull to the grooved butt is 14 5/8" with drops of 1 3/8" and 2 1/4" . The forend shows a bit more wear, still rating about very good, it is near overall checkered, the checkering now worn to flat-top, there are a handful of minor dings along the left sharp leading edge while the right sharp leading edge shows some thin slivers of wood missing. The rifle is sighted with a simple bead front sight atop a hand-matted sporting ramp and the rear quarter-length rib holds a three leaf express sight, one standing two folding, graduated from 100 to 300 yards with platinum centerlines. The rifle comes cased in what appears to be its original oak and leather case with red interior and leather Henry Atkin label in the lid. Inside the case we find a turn screw, shell pull and a nice original maker-supplied bone vial with two firing pins inside, the bottom marked in ink pen "Extra Strikers for Rifle 948". Really a very attractive British double ejector rifle that with the proper loads may still spin a bullet very well. (36520-4103) {C&R} [Richard "Stretch" Kennedy Collection]
Parker Vh Grade Boxlock Double Shotgun

serial #128240, 28 ga. on No. 0 frame, 24" barrels choked cylinder and improved modified with bright excellent bores. This is a rare little Parker, one of only 38 original V grade guns with 24" barrels. The barrels retain about 90% evenly thinning original blue finish. The action is mostly a silver gray patina with bright color under top lever. The walnut stocks appear to factory Remington replacements, the buttstock is excellent and fits beautifully, the forend is not quite as nice. The forend checkering pattern is a little different than factory and the buttstock has a "REMINGTON" marked gripcap. The stock has a 14 7/8" length of pull over a Redhead pad with outward rake at the toe and drops of 1 3/4" and 2 3/4". This is a rare little smallbore Parker that should be fun to hunt. Beautiful Ruger 77 Custom Bolt Action Rifle

serial #75-34668, 7 mm Rem. Mag., 24" barrel with a bright excellent bore. The metal surfaces retain 98-99% excellent quality engraver-applied blue with a very minor handling mark here or there. The bolt body and extractor are bright and very nicely jeweled. The barrel shows 2 1/2" wedges of nice loose flowing scroll with background punch-dot shading and a thin gold band inlaid at the breech. The receiver shows nice loose flowing scroll in about 70% coverage, continuing onto the bolt catch and the face of the handle, the knob is very nicely checkered with four teardrop panels showing a flower on the underside. The bottom metal shows additional nice loose intertwining flowing scroll with background punch dot shading. There is a game scene vignette at its center of a bighorn sheep inlaid and engraved in gold, the bow of the triggerguard has the initials "DOL" also engraved in gold. The stock is classic style with a nice flared left-side cheekpiece and rates excellent overall. It is a very nice grade of American black walnut and shows beautiful flowing riband checkering in a wraparound grip pattern with stylized fleur-de-lis. The forend shows the same intricate and lovely wraparound pattern, flawlessly executed. The length of pull to the 1" Pachmayr basket weave face pad is 13 5/8". The standard Ruger safety has been replaced with a nice wedge-shaped fully checkered one which is very positive. There is a QD stud along the toeline, a nice blued steel pistolgrip cap and a barrel swivel soldered to the underside ahead of the forend tip, the forend tip being ebony. The rifle additionally is mag-na-ported and comes with a set of Ruger rings which are engraved matching the rifle; the face of the pistolgrip cap is neatly engraved "Dave Richard/Engraver". Winchester Model 52C Sporter Bolt Action Rifle

serial #90726C, 22 LR, 24" barrel with a bright excellent bore. The metal surfaces on this lovely rifle retain about 99% original rust blue with the polished muzzle still lovely and bright. Indeed the only loss might be a tiny bit of high edge wear on the sharp edges of the triggerguard bow and trigger proper with some light toning on the knob of the bolt, the receiver showing the thinnest of lines where a target block was once mounted. The bolt body remains bright with all its original factory polish and only a very light rub mark. The checkered capped pistolgrip walnut Monte Carlo style stock rates excellent with all its original varnish and sparsely scattered, very light handling marks here or there. The black forend tip remains intact, pistolgrip shows lovely blue on the steel cap and the buttplate retains nearly all its original blue with just some tiny wear at the heel and toe. The original super grade sling swivels are included and the rifle retains its original brass bead front sight and hood with a nice factory Lyman 48 sight in place on the receiver. It should be noted that the top edges of the factory roll marking are slightly light, this due to an off-center roll, as the barrel is unmolested and the Winchester proof crisp with raised wire edges around its periphery. One original 7 round magazine is included. Really a super model 52C sporter from-which it would be difficult to upgrade. (36652-31) {C&R}
Custom German Weatherby Mauser By Kurt Jaeger

serial #2746, 300 Weatherby Mag., 24" barrel with a bright excellent bore. This is an early Weatherby magnum rifle on an FN 1954-dated action. The barreled action retains about 98% maker applied blue. There is lovely oak leaf and acorn engraving on the barrel for about 3" with extremely fine background punch-dot shading. There are inlaid geometric swirls of silver at the muzzle, halfway down the barrel and flanking the barrel engraving, the top of the barrel is maker marked "Kurt Jaeger Mainz", the receiver is overall engraved with the same lovely oakleaf engraving with intertwining silver wire inlay, the work is really very stunning. The bolt body, extractor, magazine follower and boltstop spring all show bright fine engine turning. The bolt handle is low swept and nicely engraved and wire inlaid with a nice floral motif on the top of the knob, the underside flattened and checkered. The shroud has the same oakleaf and silver wire inlay, beautifully done with a custom low-scope safety fitted as well. The bottom metal is beautiful as well with the oakleaf and acorn and silver wire inlay motif repeated with the floorplate showing a game scene vignette of a mule deer walking amidst a woodland and mountainous backdrop, the deer inlaid and engraved in silver. The rifle features the Weatherby Monte Carlo stock with flared left side cheekpiece and signature rosewood forend tip and gripcap with accenting white line spacers and diamond shaped maple inlay at the center of the pistolgrip cap. The stock itself rates excellent with only very minor dings and handling marks from the years, nicely skip-line checkered, fitted with a Weatherby ventilated recoil pad. The rifle has been fitted with a left-side quick-detached Jaeger scope base, the base neatly engraved. The ring set mounts a Weatherby variable 2 3/4-10X telescopic sight with crosshair reticle and bright very good optics that are only very slightly hazy. The rifle is fitted with double set triggers and has had a long tang added with thumb safety, the work very nicely done and convenient to the thumb. Really an absolutely stunning rifle done by this famous German maker, known for their quality work and beautiful engraving. Custom 1903 Springfield Magazine Sporting Rifle By Griffin & Howe

The metal surfaces retain about 97% original blue, the loss is due primarily to some light high edge wear and even fading, slightly more prevalent on the bottom metal which shows a few more light handling marks. The bolt body remains bright with the armory polish still vivid, the knob and handle are similar, the knob with a couple very very light oxidation spots. The shroud still shows some very good oil quenched color case-hardening and the safety is a nice two-tone blue and case-hardened gray. The top of the barrel is marked "Griffin & Howe, Inc. New York". The rifle is remodeled classic style and features nice wrap-over patterns at the grip with mullered front borders while the forearm pattern is a wrap-around with mullered front and rears. There is a very nice horn forend tip, blued steel gripcap and a checkered steel buttplate giving a 13 3/8" length of pull. The rifle has a detachable swivel stud along the toeline with a nice barrel band stud soldered ahead of the forend and it is equipped with simple magnum crossbolts, one showing remnants of some light case-hardening; the remnant of the front swivel base hole has been neatly filled by G&H just ahead of their swivel stud. The rifle is sighted with a banded sporting ramp front which supports a simple bead sight and a heavily knurled hood is in place while the rear ring shows a nice Lyman aperture sight. The rifle comes with a Springfield Research Service letter showing that this arm shipped as a 1903 Sporting Model to a Mrs. Margaret Dyer in Kodiak Alaska in September 1931. Doubtless Mrs. Dyer forwarded the arm to Griffin & Howe for the nice sporterizing and customization. Really a very handsome Griffin & Howe sporter in a lovely state of condition that doubtless shoots wonderfully. (36649-1) {C&R}

This 1939 made first model match target retains about 98% original finish with some light wear at the muzzle, high edge wear, slightly thinning finish on the backstrap, and some scattered light scratches. The elephant ear checkered walnut factory stocks with silver Colt medallions are in near excellent condition with a few light dents on the lower edge of the right panel. The remainder of the grip's surfaces maintain their smooth factory finish and crisp checkering. Included with this extraordinary gun is an original factory hinged box that is in very good condition, and correctly end labeled and hand numbered to the gun. The box contains a test target numbered to the gun; manual, single two tone magazine marked "Colt Woodsman Cal. 22 LR Match Target Mod." on the base plate, a second Woodsman marked magazine, later coin style screwdriver, original sight adjustment hang tag, high velocity mainspring housing hang tag, a special instruction pamphlet and shooting suggestion pamphlet. Colt New Service Double Action Revolver

serial #326996, 38-40 WCF, 7 1/2" barrel with an excellent bore. This 1927 made gun retains about 96% original factory finish. The barrel has spotty silvering starting to form along with light wear to the top strap, front edge wear to the cylinder, one small ding mid length on the barrel, thinning finish at the heel and a light turn ring. The hammer and trigger display on minor operation wear with very light and spotted staining to the in-the-white hammer sides. The lanyard loop is present. The checkered hard rubber factory grips are correctly hand numbered to the gun and remain in excellent condition. The barrel was probably a left over from the 1926 transition as it does not have the October patent date. Included with this fine gun is an original factory hinged box that is correctly end labeled and hand numbered to the gun and contains a special instruction pamphlet. The box is in good condition with the base partially torn at the end and about 1/3 of the label is missing along with some other corner damage. This revolver retains plenty of condition and is sure to be prized by any collector. (86886-7) {C&R}
Colt Model 1911 Semi-Auto Pistol

This 1913 made pistol retains about 80% original finish with the mainspring housing having flaked to gunmetal gray, thinning bluing on the frontstrap and top of the slide, high edge wear and scattered oxidation blemishes and pitting. The Nitre blue on the small parts is still visible but has lost some of its luster. The double diamond checkered walnut grips are in remarkable condition with only light handling wear. The left panel is hand stamp with the initials JAM on both diamonds in two different configurations. The right panel has just a solitary M stamped on both diamonds. All parts appear to be period correct. A single two tone Barnes & Kobert Mfg. Co. magazine in fair condition is included. This gun has survived the last 100 years well and would be a welcome addition to a 1911 Colt collector. (86891-2) {C&R}
Rare Brass Mounted U.S. Model 1855 Percussion Rifle By Harpers Ferry

.58 cal., 33" round barrel with an about fine bore having some spots of minor pitting and oxidation. This is lovely brass mounted model 1855 rifle with only under 800 in existence after the burning of the Harpers Ferry arsenal. The lock bears proper markings and is dated 1857 to the rear of the hammer. The barrel is properly inspected and has a fading but still visible 1857 date as well. The barrel has an pleasing even mix of dull gray and brown with a couple light light scuffs and a speck or two of light pitting and fine oxidation mainly around the bolster area. The lockplate is an overall smoky gray with strong marks and the hammer a lighter dull brown. The brass hardware has a mellowed lightly tarnished ochre patina with light handling marks. The walnut stock rates excellent with sharp edges, two small impact marks in the left stock flat, a small chip at the bottom edge of the lockplate along with a handful of other minor dings and blemishes, no inspector cartouche and an old added light finish. The appropriate front and rears sights, side mount bayonet lug and tulip shaped ramrod are present and intact and housed in the patchbox is a double ring crosshair sight and spare nipple. The cleanout screw shows minor slot wear. An excellent example of scarce desirable early rifles with seldom encountered figure eight front sight. (56915-1) {ANTIQUE}

The rifle features jeweled bolt and follower, aluminum floorplate and buttplate and the bolt is properly electric-pencil numbered to the gun on the underside. The rifle is sighted with original Redfield gold bead ramp mounted front and correct Lyman folding rear. The condition of the rifle is superb with the barrel retaining 99% original rust blued finish and the action retaining 99% original matte blue. The floorplate and buttplate both retain 99% original black anodized finish. The checkered pistolgrip stock features black forend tip, steel grip cap and proper Monte Carlo cheekpiece. The stock retains 98 - 99% original finish with just a couple very light handling marks that wouldn't warrant mention if the balance of this gun wasn't so close to perfect; factory Super Grade swivels are present. serial #24374, 270, 20" barrel with a bright minty bore. This rifle is interesting in that it was produced in 1940 and has a "34" dated barrel, a barrel made two years before the model 70 was introduced and obviously made for a model 54 rifle. The underside markings were applied when the barrel was in-the-white and there was polishing performed before the barrel markings were applied. The bolt is electric-pencil numbered to the rifle and features the early style knurled safety. The rifle features the early style small rounded cheekpiece, black forend tip and gripcap along with a checkered steel buttplate. The rifle is sighted with a Redfield gold bead front and Winchester 22G rear sight. The condition is very nice with the metal surfaces retaining 98% original blue with some light scratches on the floorplate, most of which don't penetrate the finish. The checkered pistolgrip walnut stock rates excellent with 98% original finish remaining and just a few light handling marks; Super Grade swivels are present. The bolt is properly electric-pencil numbered to the rifle on the underside and is equipped with a type III safety. The rifle is stocked in a factory Monte Carlo stock without cheekpiece and has correct solid red rubber "WINCHESTER" marked recoil pad. The condition is wonderful with the metal surfaces retaining 99% original blue overall. The checkered pistolgrip walnut stock rates excellent with 99% original finish and hardly any handling marks. Remington Hepburn No. 3 "B" Grade Match Rifle

serial #8668, 32-20, 30" part round part octagon barrel with a bright excellent bore. This rifle features fancy walnut checkered forend and buttstock with cheekpiece and Swiss buttplate. The "REMINGTON ARMS CO." marked barrel retains about 95% original blue finish with some scattered light pitting near the muzzle which is dark and blends in with the finish nicely. The action retains 90% mellow original color case-hardened finish with a couple small patches of light oxidation staining on the left top side of action. The walnut stocks are nicely figured and rate excellent with over 90% original finish remaining and with sharp checkering on the pistolgrip and rather worn checkering on forearm from the rifle being carried. There are some light handling marks in the butt and on the cheekpiece. The iron forend tip and brass Swiss buttplate both retain lots of original nickel plated finish. Remington Rolling Block Long Range Creedmoor Rifle

serial #3657, 44-77, 34" part round part octagon barrel with a bright excellent bore. This rifle features all matching numbers and is in good honest condition. The barrel retains about 60% evenly thinning original blue finish with some old scattered light oxidation staining and is marked on bottom just ahead of forend "44 CTG'E S". The action retains about 30% faded original color case-hardened finish which is almost entirely on the left side of action with the right side bearing a smoky brown patina with scattered pinprick pitting present. The face of the breechblock shows considerable pitting which is in stark contrast to the barrel which is bright. The checkered pistol grip buttstock and iron tipped forend rate very good with 75% original finish and perhaps some added light oil finish present. The rifle features a smooth steel shotgun buttplate and there is some light crazing in the stock finish. The rifle is sighted with a windgauge front with spirit level, no provision for rear barrel sight and a long range Vernier tang mounted peepsight.
