1899 The Connecticuit Telephone and Electric Co.

Lot # 751 (Sale Order: 51 of 714)

This is a Connecticut Type "C" potbelly desk telephone with a single button in the base. The nickel is not in the best of shape but overall this candlestick is in outstanding original condition for its age. It uses a Holzter-Cabot outside terminal receiver which was common on early Connecticut telephones. Please see the scan from an original ad in the 1899 issue of Telephone Magazine. Almost identical to this telephone. Very rare potbelly. Size 9" T.

Public Telephone Co., Shaver Style "G" - Dolphin.

Lot # 752 (Sale Order: 52 of 714)

The scan is from an original image of the 1899 Public Telephone Company catalog listing the Shaver Style "G" Desk Instrument for $10.00. 1886 American Bell Telephone Long Distance.

Lot # 754 (Sale Order: 54 of 714)

The search for better ways of transmitting a person's voice led to the development of this model which used a platinum diaphragm for better long distance transmission. American Bell Telephone launched the American Telephone & Telegraph Company (AT&T) in 1885. It was clearly their goal to build long distance lines and develop a long distance company. This long distance transmitter, introduced in 1886 was their first long distance transmitter. Alexander Graham Bell and Theodore Vail, President of the American Bell Telephone Company, both used a telephone like this after its invention. This reproduction was manufactured by John Infurna with meticulous attention to detail. Only a few of these were made. Size 15" T.
