Mercedes-Benz 220E Saloon

Lot # 201 (Sale Order: 1 of 154)

W124 is the Mercedes-Benz internal chassis-designation for the1984 to 1995/96 version of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class ('E' for'Executive'). It was introduced in 1985 and based heavily on theprevious W123 model. It was lighter, more agile and was a much moremodern car overall. It incorporated many of the safety featurespioneered in the S-Class saloon such as driver and passengerairbags; indeed, so successful was Mercedes-Benz in driving forwardsafety standards with the W124, that their methodology was used asthe benchmark for the European NCAP tests. Due to the high cost ofGerman engineering and build quality, the W124 was designed to lastmany miles, with awards actually given and worn by high mileageversions. It had one of the lowest coefficients of drag of anyvehicle of the time due to its aerodynamic body that includedplastic moulding for the undercarriage to streamline airflowbeneath the car reducing fuel consumption and wind noise. It alsohad a single windscreen wiper that had an eccentric mechanism atits base that extended the wiper's reach to the top corners of thewindscreen, more than if it had travelled in a simple arc.Described by the vendor, the body and interior are in 9/10condition throughout; unsurprising when you consider the relativelylow mileage this example has travelled. With just five formerowners, the car presents in fully original condition with a fullystamped up service history including various receipts and MoT testcertificates, including its most recent expiring, as it does, wellinto 2016. Also present is the owner's wallet, warning triangle andoriginal first aid kit. Still with both its keys, this 'time-warp'example is also attractively presented at no reserve.

Nash Metropolitan Series III

Lot # 202 (Sale Order: 2 of 154)

The Nash Metropolitan is a car that was sold, initially only in the United States and Canada, from 1954 through to 1962. In today’s terminology the Metropolitan would be known as a ‘subcompact’, but this category had not yet come into use when the car was manufactured. At the time, it was categorised as a ‘small automobile’ as well as an ‘economy car’. The Metropolitan was also sold as a Hudson when Nash and Hudson merged in 1954 to form the American Motors Corporation (AMC), and later as a standalone marque. This Nash Metropolitan 1500 was built by BMC at Longbridge, Birmingham on 27th February 1957. It was purchased by an American serviceman and shipped to New York. He was posted to a US airbase in Su?olk in 1962 and brought the car with him. The Nash was then ‘found’ in a Su?olk scrapyard in the early 70’s, presumably left there when the serviceman returned to the US. The owner of the scrapyard passed the car to his nephew who used her until 1978 when it was sold to a Nash enthusiast who set about restoring the car. Returning to the road in May 1983, this hardtop has been enjoyed immensely and remains in good condition. The coral red and frost white coachwork was being repainted at the time of our inspection; however, this was to freshen up the paintwork and not due to any serious corrosion. The previous owner was Chairman of the Nash Owners Club who clearly had a good understanding of how to look after these interesting cars. Supplied with a V5 registration document and an MoT test certi?cate valid until 30th January 2016, together with a substantial history ?le, the styling of a Metropolitan is a little quirky but the basic mechanical design make this an ideal choice for the classic car enthusiast who enjoys maintaining their own vehicle.

Bentley Turbo R

Lot # 204 (Sale Order: 4 of 154)

The Bentley Turbo R was a high-performance model produced from 1985 to 1997 with a total of 7,230 built in the 12 year production period. The ‘R’ stood for ‘Roadholding’, to set it apart from its predecessor, the Mulsanne, and also sported a revised suspension with wider tyres on alloy wheels for a Bentley. The suspension changes, although seemingly subtle, transformed the soft and less than well-controlled ride of the Mulsanne into that of a real performer. This was achieved by increasing the anti-roll bar rates in the front and rear and by increasing the damping. A Panhard rod to anchor the rear suspension was also introduced, reducing side-to-side movement in corners. The Turbo R was sold alongside the Mulsanne Turbo for a short time although the Mulsanne was taken out of production in 1985. For the 1987 model year, the Turbo R received anti-lock brakes and Bosch fuel injection replacing the Solex carburettors. This Bentley Turbo R was originally registered on 24th May 1996 and is finished in green with contrasting tan interior. Regularly serviced, albeit latterly by a marque specialist, she performed well on our road test and is described by the vendor as having no known faults. The car has obviously been well cared for and the bodywork shows no sign of corrosion. Supplied with a V5 registration document and a current Mot test certificate, together with a history report, these cars represent outstanding value for money.

Maserati Bi-Turbo Spyder

Lot # 205 (Sale Order: 5 of 154)

When Alejandro de Tomaso acquired Maserati in 1976, he hadambitious plans for the marque. His plan was to combine theprestige of the Maserati brand with a sports car that would be moreaffordable than the earlier high-priced models that hadtraditionally made up the Maserati range. The Maserati Bi-turbofeatures, as the name implies, a two-litre V6 engine with twoturbochargers and a luxurious interior. The car was designed byPierangelo Andreani, an engineer from the De Tomaso team, somewhatinfluenced by the design of the newer Quattroporte III (ItaldesignGiugiaro), as can be observed on the front fascia. The Bi-turbo wasinitially a strong seller and brought Italian prestige to a wideaudience and competed (unsuccessfully) in the British Touring CarChampionship in the late 1980's, the European Touring CarChampionship and the 1987 World Touring Car Championship. TheSpyder version was introduced at the Turin Motor Show in 1984 andwas designed and built by the world class designers, Zagato.Overall 3,076 were built over a ten-year period, setting aproduction record for Maserati Spyders. This 1990 Maserati 2800 Bi-Turbo Spyder was originally suppliedby Meridian Modena Ltd based in the New Forest in Hampshire. It wasregistered in 1997 with the registration J598 NJT and thenre-registered the following month with MAZ8062 which is a NorthernIreland number plate. When purchased in 2008 by a Mr. Crompton ofWorcester, it was put back to the original registration number. In2011 he sold the car and it was exported to Jersey where it hasremained ever since. Finished in the original swan white with blueleather interior this very good example is supplied with theoriginal UK V5C registration document, a certificate of export toJersey, the handbooks in a leather wallet and a set of servicemanuals. Complete with the original centre dash clock, this is awell-cared for example which has been cherished and looked after byall of the previous owners. Guide Price: £7,000 - £10,000.Interested parties should note that VAT, charged at 20%will be levied upon the final hammer price of this lot if itpurchased to remain in the UK.

Fiat 500

Lot # 206 (Sale Order: 6 of 154)

The Nuova 500 was designed by Dante Giacosa, the man also responsible for its predecessor, the Cinquecento or Topolino (little mouse) as the public immediately christened it. The Nuova is a masterpiece of packaging; the rear-wheel drive, rear-engined layout leaving a remarkably uncluttered cabin with adequate room for four passengers, despite the diminutive length of just 9.74ft. At its introduction in 1957 the little Fiat was powered by a twin-cylinder engine of 479cc and just 13bhp, but by the time of the later 500 F the capacity had grown to 499.5cc and the output to 22bhp – sufficient for a maximum speed of c.60mph combined with a fuel consumption of over 50mpg. This great fun car has recently been imported and at the time of writing the paperwork has been lodged to have the car registered on UK number plates. The white paintwork is in good condition, as is the black interior. The vendor states the car starts and runs well and has recently passed an MoT. Fiat 500s are quirky, fun and economical; it is di?cult to drive one without a smile on your face.

Ford Cortina GL Ghia

Lot # 207 (Sale Order: 7 of 154)

The biggest step forward for the fourth-generation Cortina wasthat it finally saw the convergence of the German Taunus and theBritish Cortina. No longer were these two separate ranges butmerely the same cars carrying different badges. The Mk. V wasannounced on 24th August 1979 and officially the program was codenamed Teresa although externally it was marketed as 'Cortina 80'.Largely an update to the Mk. IV, it was really a step between afacelift and a re-body. The Mk. V differentiated itself from theMk. IV by having revised headlights with larger turn indicatorsincorporated, a wider slatted grill said to be more aerodynamicallyefficient, a flattened roof, larger glass area, slimmer C-pillarswith revised vent covers, larger slatted tail lights (on saloonmodels) and upgraded trim. Improvements were also made to theengine range with slight improvements to both fuel economy andpower output compared to the Mk. IV.This attractive Ford Cortina Mk. V four-door saloon, fitted withthe two litre overhead cam engine and manual gearbox has recentlybeen used by a television and film vehicle hire company in variousproductions and, as a result, has been fully maintained and checkedthoroughly to guarantee reliability when on set. Finished in palegreen with fawn interior, this Mk. V Cortina is supplied with a V5Cregistration document, an MoT test certificate which expires inNovember 2015 and a few invoices. Not many Fords have survived fromthis period due to rust; it is nice to come across an example thatis rust free and eminently usable.Price Guide: £1,500 - £2,500?

Jaguar XJR-S (6 litre) Coupé

Lot # 209 (Sale Order: 9 of 154)

The Jaguar XJS was a luxury car produced from 1975 through to 1996 and replaced the E-Type. Although it never had quite the same sporting image, the XJS was a competent grand tourer and actually more aerodynamic. From 1988, a special XJR-S version of the V12, 5.3-litre car was produced by Jaguar Sport, a separate company owned jointly by Jaguar and TWR. This car had a distinctive body kit, special alloy wheels and suspension together with a number of handling improvements. After September 1989, the change was made to a special six litre engine with a Zytec engine management system giving 314hp, later 329hp. This was completely di?erent from the standard six litre engine used in later XJS models. This 1990 Jaguar XJR-S is ?tted with the special six litre engine and has only recently been put back onto the road after being stored for over two years. It has covered 90,600 miles from new which can be substantiated by a complete history of MoT test certi?cates. Recently repainted in the original black with doe skin leather interior, it has just been checked through and had an oil change service. This XJR-S is supplied with a V5C registration document, an MoT test certi?cate which expires in March 2016, the service book pack containing the original handbook and service book and a ?le containing invoices and old MoT test certi?cates which go back to 1994. These rare six litre Jaguars are certainly regarded as a modern day classic.

Aston Martin DB9

Lot # 211 (Sale Order: 11 of 154)

The DB9 was the star of the 2003 Frankfurt Motor show where itwas unveiled to the public for the very first time. The sleeksuperformed aluminium body was initially designed by Ian Callum buthad also been significantly influenced by the next director of AMdesign, Hendrik Fisker. The DB9 was powered by a third generationversion of the now familiar 6.0 litre V12 and has a top speed of186mph. Production of the coupé started at the new Gaydon factoryvery early in 2004, with the Volante coming on stream early in2005. The DB9 was the first of what was to become a long line ofproduction Aston Martins to use VH architecture; using Superformedparts in the chassis and footwell as well as the body panels. Theindividual die-cast, extruded or stamped aluminium elements of theVH platform are bonded with strong adhesives and self-piercingrivets to make a lightweight but stiff backbone. The DB9 body shellweighed 25% less than that of the DB7 but has double its torsionalrigidity. This process also allowed Aston Martin to retain highlevels of engineering accuracy in producing a car at a highervolume, ensuring chassis performance to match the engine power.Aston Martins have always made the interior of their cars to bevery special places. Beautifully tailored with the finest ofmaterials, the DB9 uses Bridge of Weir leather, aluminium and wood. The use of wood in the interior was different from previous AstonMartins, with customers offered a choice of walnut, mahogany orbamboo. The fine detail of finishing is typified by the starterbutton made of glass and sand etched with the Aston Martin wingslogo. This DB9 was first registered on 8th September 2005and has covered only 25,200 miles in that time. Finished inTungsten silver with Phantom grey leather, this is a splendidexample of a magnificent car. The V12 engine started immediatelyupon request and sounds superb. Our thoroughly enjoyable road testconfirmed this to be a DB9 of the highest order and we can confirmthere are no known faults with the car. Supplied with a V5registration document, a current MoT test certificate and a servicehistory, Aston Martin DB9's are superb to look at and even betterto drive. This one is exceptional.

Maserati Merak

Lot # 212 (Sale Order: 12 of 154)

The Maserati Merak was introduced in 1972, essentially a lighter version of the Maserati Bora. It substituted an all new Maserati designed quad-cam, three litre, V6 motor for the Bora's larger V8;resulting not only in a lower cost but with room for a small backseat and better handling due to lower weight and a better front/rear weight distribution. Aesthetically, the Merak differed from the otherwise very similar Bora; mainly in sporting open flying buttresses instead of the Bora's fully glassed rear, the mid-engine Merak used the Bora body shell but the extra space offered by the smaller engine was used to carve out a second row of seats suitable for children. As with the Bora, certain Citroën hydraulic systems were used such as the brakes, clutch and headlight pods With just 647 Mk. I Meraks produced and very few still remaining on the road today, the younger sibling of the Bora has collectable qualities in abundance. This particular example was recently purchased in France and has a remarkable 19,000 kilometres displayed on the odometer which is thought to be correct however, due to the loss of paperwork, this is not warranted and any interested parties we recommend viewing the car and forming your own conclusion. Presented in silver coachwork with suede grey trim which shows little wear, this motorcar would certainly be a candidate for a cosmetic restoration at which point, it would present a very attractive proposition. Having been barn-stored for many years in France before being re-commissioned several years ago, the engine starts and runs well on idle and we are told the car drives with no major issues to the vendor's knowledge. Sold with French title, the invoice for there-commissioning work and import documents so the new buyer can, if required, register this Merak for the UK roads, something we believe would be a formality. With this Maserati being offered at a very competitive estimate, the potential alone should render this coupé extremely popular with bidders.?

Alfa Romeo 1750 Spider

Lot # 213 (Sale Order: 13 of 154)

The Alfa Romeo Spider was produced from 1966 to 1993 and iswidely regarded as a design classic. It remained in production foralmost three decades with only minor aesthetic and mechanicalchanges. The last Spider was produced in April 1993 and the lastrear wheel drive Alfa Romeo produced before Alfa Romeo 8CCompetizione was introduced on 23rd May 2012. The firstpresentation of the car, as a prototype, was at the Turin MotorShow in 1961. However, the continuing success of existing modelsand the economic challenges facing Italy at the time meant that thefirst pre-launch production Spiders only began to emerge from thePininfarina production line at the end of 1965. Visually almostidentical to the earlier Spider 1600 Duetto, the 1750 Spider wasthe next step in the genesis of the Duetto Spider.Originally sold in California, this Alfa Romeo arrived in the UKin 1993. Since then it has been converted to righthand drive andbenefitted from a full engine rebuild and a repaint. A substantialhistory file confirms the significant level of expenditure over a22 year period. Our inspection confirmed this to be a very goodexample; the hood has recently been replaced and the body shows nosigns of corrosion. The interior is exceptionally tidy andmechanically there appears to be no known faults, with the enginestarting immediately when requested. The vendor, who is an AlfaRomeo enthusiast, has owned EKH 156J for three years and lookedafter her with passion and commitment. Supplied with a V5registration document and an MoT test certificate valid until 9thOctober 2015, this 1750 Spider is a very useable example of ahandsome and stylish sports car.?

Morris Minor Split Screen Convertible

Lot # 214 (Sale Order: 14 of 154)

This 1956 Morris Minor Split Screen Convertible was purchased bythe current lady owner in August 2009. Known as 'Maggie', this lateseries II Minor convertible has only covered approximately 450miles in the ensuing years and in that time, Maggie has only beenused occasionally and on dry days. The coachwork is finished indark grey and, although not a concours finish, is in good orderwith only a few minor blemishes. The hood and interior trim wereboth replaced in 2006 and compliment the grey exterior. Theundersides appear to be excellent; in fact, we are informed that onthe last MoT test, the tester commented that this was the finest hehad seen. The original 803cc engine has been replaced at some pointduring its life with the later 948 Morris unit that gives it alittle extra 'oomph'. On a recent test, the car started on thebutton, with no smoking evident, and she soon settled into a smoothidle. On the road it drove easily and stopped in the usual fashionwith the all drum brakes having been recently overhauled. Thesteering was sharp with directional indication by the semaphoreindicators working as they should. The hood operated easily up anddown; an important point for those quick sharp showers. AlthoughMoT test exempt, the owner is particular about keeping Maggie safeso there is a current MoT test certificate valid until late October2015 and, of course, she is also road fund licence exempt.Although Maggie is no concourse contender she does have acertain charm and is waiting to be enjoyed especially as the finermonths are ahead of us, with the picnic basket and its contentsincluded.?

Porsche 928 S4

Lot # 215 (Sale Order: 15 of 154)

The Porsche 928 was a sports-GT sold from 1978 to 1995 and wasan immediate hit with orders in the UK far outstripping demand.Originally intended to replace the company's iconic 911, the 928attempted to combine the power, poise, and handling of a sports carwith the refinement, comfort, and equipment of a luxury saloon tocreate what some Porsche executives thought would be a vehicle withwider appeal than the compact, quirky and sometimes difficult 911.The 928 qualified as a 2+2, having two small seats in the rear. Both rear seats could be folded down to enlarge the luggage areaand both the front and rear seats had sun visors for occupants.Porsche's design and development efforts paid off during the 1978European Car of the Year competition where the 928 won ahead of theBMW 7-series and the Ford Granada. The 928 is the only sports carso far to have won this competition as the usual winners weremainstream hatchbacks and saloons from major Europeanmanufacturers. This is regarded as proof of how advanced the 928was compared to its contemporaries. This righthand drive 1988 Porsche 928 S4 has been carefullylooked after by all of its four owners who have kept it fullymaintained and properly serviced and, according to a note in theservice book, the cam belt was replaced about two years ago whenthe car had completed around 80,000 miles. More recently it hasbeen repainted refreshing the original colour of black. Theinterior is in good condition being in black and cream leather. This 928 S4 is supplied with a V5C registration document, an MoTtest certificate which expires on the 22nd April 2015, a completeset of handbooks, a fully stamped service book and a filecontaining invoices going back to 2002 and old MoT certificateswhich start in 1991. Ready to be used, this retro classic hascertainly been cherished and the 928 is now quite rightly beingrecognised along with other grand touring cars of the period suchas the Aston Martin V8 and Ferrari 400i.?

Mercedes-Benz 280SL Roadster

Lot # 216 (Sale Order: 16 of 154)

The Mercedes-Benz SL (Sport Leicht) has been in production since 1954 with perhaps the most in?uential model being the W113 Pagoda of 1963. This second generation evolved from the 230SL to 250SL, ?nally becoming the 280SL. The W113 was replaced by the W107 in 1971 and as the engines became larger, the bodywork and weight of the cars also increased – as often happens in mid-life! The SL improved through the years with technical innovation but still managed to keep its fundamental character and identity of an up-market, quality sports car. Its reputation went from strength to strength and it was rare to see an episode of Dallas or Dynasty in the 1980’s without an SL making a star appearance. The genius soft-top mechanism which folds down out of sight under a panel ahead of the boot lid gave the car a beautifully sleek, uncluttered appearance. O?ered with beautiful and almost unmarked red coachwork complemented by a near ?awless (?) biscuit trim, this great 280SL Roadster has covered just 65,000 miles from new and has bene?tted from a wealth of recent work which we are told includes a gearbox re-build and re-adjustment of the timing to suit giving us an example that is ready for the summer and hours of motoring enjoyment. Accompanied by a valid MoT test certi?cate, a history ?le including recent services and a wealth of old MoT test certi?cates verifying the mileage, this plucky 280 is a pleasure to drive with its lighter nose and should, in our opinion, see signi?cant investment potential for years to come with other similar models on o?er at double the price.

Launched in 1970, the Triumph Stag was a luxury Grand Tourer.Envisioned as a luxury sports car, it was designed to competedirectly with the Mercedes-Benz SL class models. All Stags werefour-seater convertible coupés but, for structural rigidity and tomeet new American rollover standards at the time, the Stag requireda B-pillar 'roll bar' hoop connected to the windscreen frame by aT-bar. A removable hardtop was a popular factory option and waslater supplied as standard equipment. A new 2.5 litre, V8 was laterenlarged to 2997cc. Most Stags were fitted with a Borg Warnerautomatic gearbox although manual gearboxes with over drive arehighly desirable, electric windows, power steering andpower-assisted brakes were fitted as standard. This 1975 Stag offered in Java Green with black trim has coveredjust 66,000 miles since new and has been subject to a recentrestoration including new timing chains and bare metal re-spray.Having been registered and kept in the south of France for some tenyears, this example is in very sound order, drives well and has areconditioned hood and new stainless steel exhaust system making,we believe, a sound investment for any bidder in such a fabulouscolour. A desirable manual with overdrive gearbox model and offeredwith an MoT test certificate valid until May 2015 and V5registration certificate, it comes with a very reasonableestimate.

Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow I

Lot # 218 (Sale Order: 18 of 154)

The Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow was a luxury saloon car built from 1965 to 1980. It was the first Rolls-Royce to be constructed using a monocoque chassis and, to date, has the largest production volume of any Rolls-Royce. The original Shadow was three and a half inches narrower and seven inches shorter than the Silver Cloud which it replaced but managed to o?er increased passenger and luggage space thanks to more efficient packaging made possible by its construction. Aside from a more modern appearance, the Silver Shadow introduced many new features such as disc brakes instead of drum brakes and independent rear suspension rather than the ageing live axle design of previous cars. This elegant example, complete with period Ever?ex roof, presents in blue with a contrasting Champagne leather interior. The exterior condition is described by the vendor as between nine and ten out of ten in all areas with the engine and transmission being in near perfect order. In 2000, just after its acquisition, it was thoroughly overhauled including a bare-metal re-spray in the original Caribbean Aqua. It has also been serviced every year, most recently on the 9th December, 2014. The service schedule has been religiously maintained since 1999 despite the relatively few miles travelled. An MoT test certificate is supplied expiring in December of this year as well as the original sales invoice and build specifications. Good order and good value.

Ford Escort 1100 Mk. I

Lot # 219 (Sale Order: 19 of 154)

The Ford Escort was introduced in the United Kingdom at the endof 1967, making its show debut at the Brussels Motor Show inJanuary 1968. The Escort was a commercial success in many parts ofWestern Europe, but nowhere more than in the UK, where it was thenational best seller of the 1960's. In June 1974, less than sixyears after the car's UK introduction, Ford announced thecompletion of the two millionth Ford Escort, a milestone unmatchedby any Ford model outside the USA. The Mk. I featured contemporarystyling cues in tune with its time; a subtle Detroit-inspired 'Cokebottle' waistline and the 'dogbone' shaped front grill - arguablythe car's most famous stylistic feature. This remarkable Ford Escort has only covered 31,000 miles duringits 45 years on the road. The condition is commensurate of a carthat has been so well looked after and cared for. Although a basicmodel, this Escort has a familiar feel to it when starting theengine and driving off. It is described by the vendor as having noknown faults and comes supplied with a V5 registration document, together with an MoT test certificate valid until 15thNovember 2015. A great example of a model that is rarely seen thesedays.

Ford Escort 1600 Mexico Mk. I

Lot # 220 (Sale Order: 20 of 154)

There was, in the early days of the Ford Escort, a higher performance version for rallies and racing. The Mk. I Escorts became very successful as a rally car and eventually went on to become one of the most successful rally cars of all time. The Ford works team was practically unbeatable in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s; arguably the Escort’s greatest victory was in the 1970 London to Mexico World Cup Rally being driven by Finnish legend Hannu Mikkola. This gave rise to the famous Escort Mexico special edition road versions in honour of the rally car. The Mexico was built at Ford’s Advanced Vehicle Operations (AVO) facility located at the Aveley Plant in South Essex. As well as higher performance engines and sports suspension, these models featured strengthened bodyshells, making them an ideal model for rallying. Even today, Mk. I Escorts are still popular in the amateur rally scene. Having been in storage since 1992 until last year, this genuine Escort Mexico has just completed a total restoration and during our inspection, the engine was in the final stages of being rebuilt by Ford performance specialist Phil Hampton Motors in Eastbourne. We are able to cofirm the bodywork has been completed to a very good standard with the car finished in its original colour of Le Mans green. A comprehensive history file accompanies the car, together with a V5 registration document and a full year’s MoT test certificate. The vendor has ensured this Mk. I Escort is completed to the highest standard and, after seeing the quality of work carried out, we have no reason to doubt this. Desirable classic Fords are in high demand; this Escort Mexico is now completely ready for someone to step into and enjoy.

Alfa Romeo GTV Coupe

Lot # 221 (Sale Order: 21 of 154)

The Alfa Romeo Gran Turismo Veloce (GTV) designed by Enrico Fumia at Pininfarina was planned to re-establish the sporty coupé tradition of Alfa Romeo for the 1990’s. After the Fiat CEO accepted the design, Alfa Romeo Centro Stile was responsible for the completion of the detail work and also for the design of the interiors, as Pininfarina’s. proposal was not accepted. A typical Italian design, low-slung, wedge-shaped with a low nose and high kicked up tail or ‘Kamm tail’ gave improved aerodynamics and, at its launch, many journalists commented that Alfa had improved the overall build quality considerably and that it came very close to equaling its German rivals. The GTV was indeed favourably received by the written press, winning awards such as Autocar Magazine’s ‘1995 Car of the Year’, Car Magazine’s ‘Best Designed Car’ and in 1995 was awarded ‘The World’s Most Beautiful Automobile’ award. It is not often that we come across a car that despite being over 17 years old, genuinely feels like new. From the door shuts to the workings of the electric switches and the effortless start-up when the key is turned and all of this on an Alfa Romeo, not known for their ability to withstand the rigours of time. This particular example, in gleaming Alfa Romeo red with unmarked sports trim, is the Twin Spark GTV coupé and proudly displays all of the Pininfarina design lines impeccably. O?ered with the optional extra sunroof which has no signs of wear and having covered just 7,500 miles since new, this example is surely a future collectors dream. Having been owned for most of its life by a lady in Hampshire, the car saw only infrequent use whilst remaining in a heated garage, the female owner serviced the car regularly as one should however, unfortunately upon her passing, the car had no further use and therefore remained garaged in the warm for a few further years. Once the owner of the local MoT test station learnt that the car that he had once seen annually was in need of a new home and having fondly remembered it, he decided to purchase it from the estate for weekend driving and this wonderful example was again on the road. However due to the nature of his work and having a daily driver the miles never racked up on the GTV and thus is still in such wonderful order today. Supplied with countless MoT test certficates to prove mileage, service receipts including details of the cam belt change which is key on these models, stamped service history, the original bill of sale and a nice private GTV number plate which is sold with the car, we would struggle to find a more appropriate future classic and with provenance, low mileage and in fantastic condition, it is already gaining admiring glances.

Autobianchi Bianchina Berlina

It was available in variousconfigurations; Berlina (saloon), Cabriolet (roadster),Trasformabile (convertible), Panoramica (station wagon) andFurgoncino (van). In the same year, the Trasformabile, whose engine cylindercapacity was increased to 499cc, was made available in a specialversion with bicolour paint and an engine enhanced to 21hp. In1962, the Trasformabile was replaced by a four-seat saloon. Theengine and chassis were the same as in the Trasformabile and in1965, a minor facelift was implemented. Mercedes-Benz 500SEL

Lot # 224 (Sale Order: 23 of 154)

The S-Class has always been the epitome of performance, comfort and safety, setting benchmarks within the luxury saloon and limousine segments whilst also bringing new levels of technological innovation and product refinement to the industry as a whole. The W126 in its quest to deliver maximum comfort and outstanding safety pioneered driver and passenger airbags, acceleration skid control and a bodyshell with forked longitudinal member, making it the first series production vehicle in the world to meet offset crash requirements. The W126 was also the first production car to use safety belt pre-tensioners and to fit rear passenger seatbelts. This top of the range V8 500SEL was completed at the factory on 8th September 1982, registered in Dusseldorf on 13th September and personally imported straight away by the business partner of the successful industrialist and Lords Peer Harry Stokes. DVLA issued VYJ 988Y documentation to the car just 14 days later. The car was gifted to Lord Stokes shortly afterwards and re-registered in his name. It was for driving to his Villa on the French Riviera from his home in Guildford, Surrey. Consequently the car was specified in righthand drive with a km/h speedometer and optioned with both air-conditioning/climate control and an electronic steel sunroof. Coachwork is metallic Lapis Blue with Galaxy Blue ribbed velour interior. Further luxury appointments include heated front seats with electronic positional adjustment, front armrest, adjustable rear seat backrests, electric left door mirror, Becker Mexico cassette stereo, automatic antenna, light alloy wheels, headlamp washer/wiper, ABS, Tempomat cruise control and limited slip differential. Mr Stokes passed away aged 94 having owned the car for approaching 30 years. The family offered the car to the son of their neighbour, who as a motoring industry professional had always known and admired it. Although garaged, it has seen little use over two years of ownership so the decision was made to sell. The limousine is in remarkable time-warp condition throughout. The performance and handling of the car today is comparable to when the car was new with effortless power and seamless, whisper-quiet delivery even when hurried. The gauges show healthy oil pressure and the steering and suspension continue to give the car excellent balance and a purposeful yet composed driving experience. Documents in the history file refer to upkeep at Mercedes-Benz Guildford. The car has two keys, owners' handbooks, service book, Becker user-guide plus cards and pamphlets issued by the factory when new - all in perfect condition. The original fabric tool-wrap is present and correct. The car has done just 97 miles since its MoT test (no advisories) and 900 miles since its last full service including new discs and pads in April 2013.

Datsun 260Z

Lot # 225 (Sale Order: 24 of 154)

"The Nissan S30 (sold in Japan as the Nissan Fairlady Z and in other markets as the Datsun 240Z, then later as the 260Z and 280Z) was the first generation of Z GT two-seat coupé, produced by Nissan Motors Ltd of Japan from 1969 to 1978. It was designed by a team led by Mr. Yoshihiko Matsuo, the head of Nissan's Sports Car Styling Studio. HLS30 was the designation of the lefthand drive model and HS30 for the righthand drive model. This model was sold in the United States for the 1974 model year only but was available in other countries until 1978. A three-speed automatic transmission was an option and the four-speed manual standard. 1974 brought for the first time to the S30 line a new 2+2 seating option, which offered room for four passengers and an extra 11.9 inches of wheelbase. These cars have a notably different roofline from the two-seat coupés, incorporating larger opening quarter panel windows. The 260Z claimed a few updates and improvements over the 240Z. The climate controls were more sensibly laid out and easier to work, and those cars with air conditioning now had the system integrated into the main climate control panel. There was also additional stiffness in the chassis due to a redesign of the chassis rails which were larger and extended further back than previous models. The 260Z debuted a redesigned dashboard and console and door panels for the interior, together with updated tail lights. This 260Z has been imported into the UK from Nevada and is described as being totally free of rust. However, the vendor, a well respected restorer, has carried out a total mechanical and bodywork restoration on this Datsun. The engine has been rebuilt and a six-branch stainless steel exhaust system fitted. New Koni shock absorbers have been fitted to the front and new suspension bushes throughout. A full bare-metal re-spray has been carried out and the metallic black paint finish appears to be first class. A new leather interior has also been fitted. We are advised the car will be registered on UK number plates prior to the auction and the car will come with a full MoT test certificate. We were unable to test drive the 260Z prior to the auction due to the restoration nearing completion; however, due to the fastidious nature of the vendor, we do not expect anything other than a first class example when finished.

Bentley T1 Saloon

Lot # 226 (Sale Order: 25 of 154)

"The Bentley T-Series was the Bentley badged version of the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow, available as a four or two door saloon with coachwork by James Young or Mulliner Park Ward. The Bentley differed from its Rolls-Royce equivalent by its more rounded front grill, while the badging on the wheel covers, boot lid and gauges naturally featured Bentley motifs rather than the Rolls-Royce logo. In October 1966, the 'T' saloon's pre-tax 'list price' of £5,375 undercut the Rolls-Royce by £50. The Bentley was technically an identical twin of the Rolls-Royce and seemed to have been purchased mostly by owners wishing for a more understated luxury saloon. The former sporting image of Bentley motor cars differing from Rolls-Royces had gone by the time the Silver Shadow/Bentley 'T' was introduced and this was no longer a primary reason to purchase a Bentley over the Rolls-Royce sibling. A Bentley TI is a rare car today with only 1,703 units manufactured in the production run from 1965 to 1977 and, as seen by the chassis number, this Bentley is late in the production run. This car was originally supplied by the Heron group in Halesowen, to Mr. John Orchard of The Bright Steel Co. Ltd. in Tipton, Staffordshire. This Bentley was maintained and serviced within the franchise until 2000 when it appeared at Lex in Weybridge; since then the car has been maintained by marque specialists. The history and recent MoT test certificates would indicate the mileage of 94,823 to be correct. Supplied with a V5 registration document and a full year's MoT test certificate, it is finished in two-tone pewter over Moorland with beige trim. This TI is in need of a little time and investment but is certain to bring pleasure to the new owner as well as becoming a rising asset.
