Custom Remington Model 700P Bolt Action Sniper Rifle By Iron Brigade Armory
Lot # 376 (Sale Order: 376 of 824)
serial #F6229601, 308 Win, 26" custom Hart tapered barrel with a 1:12" rate of twist and a bright excellent bore. This custom tactical rifle was built in 2003 by Iron Brigade Armory in Jacksonville, NC by master gunsmith Norman Chandler and is listed as the IBA Tactical Model. The metal surfaces have Iron Brigade's Man-O-War finish with about 98-99% remaining due to a few light handling marks. The bolt features an IBA handle with an oversized knob and both the bolt body and handle are numbered to the receiver. Rifle is equipped with a Bell & Carlson black composite stock that is numbered to the receiver and features a reinforced fiberglass construction with a full length aluminum block, titanium barrel pad and Marine Tex finish. The stock has a few light handling marks but rates excellent overall. The custom tuned receiver features a heavy recoil lug and the stock accommodates the Remington factory trigger has been custom tuned to a crisp 3 3/4 lbs.. Mounted to the top of the short action receiver is a U.S. Optics picatinny riser mount that holds a Leupold Mark 4 3.5-10x40mm LR/T riflescope with 30 mm tube and side focus adjustment. The matte finished scope features crisp, clear optics with a duplex reticle and has extended turrets. Scope includes a set of Butler Creek flip-up lens covers. Also included are a Harris 1A2 BR series folding bipod that is mounted to the forend, and a black nylon tactical sling. An impressive rifle package by a well known and respected gunmaker that will likely out perform the majority of custom rifles in its class. (47076-D29908)

Colt First Model Dragoon Revolver
Lot # 377 (Sale Order: 377 of 824)
serial #4928, .44 caliber, 7 1/2” barrel. This is a salty old Dragoon. The metal surfaces of revolver retain an even gray patina with scattered even light pitting along with scattered impact marks. There is no scene or serial number visible on the cylinder. The barrel and frame show only remnants of their serial numbers which have been mostly obliterated by pitting and scattered impact marks. The backstrap shows a lightly restamped serial number as the original was obliterated by numerous impact marks. The one piece walnut grip appears to be an old replacement or a heavily sanded original. The "COLTS / PATENT" mark on the left side of the frame has been restamped in more modern fonts (the same font as the backstrap number). These revolvers pre-date the Henry rifle by more than 10 years and while this example is in tired condition, it is functionally mechanical and would make a good solid example for the budding collector. Colt Third Model Civilian Dragoon With Rare 8" Barrel

serial #18860, .44 caliber, 8" barrel with dark bore. This revolver shows all matching numbers with the exception of the wedge which is an original wedge but numbered to another revolver in the 18000 range. The metal surfaces of this revolver retain an even gray patina with some scattered patches of oxidation staining, some patches of light pitting and some scattered blunt impact marks. All serial numbers, address and patent dates remain clear and legible, the cylinder scene is no longer visible and there are some patches of heavy pitting on cylinder however the serial number remains fully legible. The gripstraps are of brass and bear a nice mellow patina. The one-piece walnut grip rates very good with about 20% original finish remaining with added finish as well. Colt Third Model Civilian Dragoon Revolver

serial #18143, .44 caliber, 7 1/2" barrel with a dark bore. This revolver shows all matching numbers and remains in nice honest condition. Metal surfaces of revolver bear an even gray brown patina with some scattered patches of light surface pitting and scattered oxidation staining. The barrel address, patent marking and all serial numbers remain fully legible. The cylinder scene is no longer visible and there is a light ring on the cylinder from the bolt making light contact when cycled. The brass gripstraps show only traces of original silver plated finish with the balance showing a nice mellow patina. The one-piece walnut grip rates very good. U.S. Colt Third Model Dragoon Revolver

serial #17382, .44 caliber, 7 1/2" barrel with a dark bore that shows deep rifling. This revolver features all matching numbers including the wedge and it is cut for shoulder stock. The metal surfaces of revolver are a silver gray overall showing a light cleaning with markings all remaining legible, some are light but they are all legible. The top of the barrel has had a two leaf rear sight dovetailed just ahead of the cylinder. The cylinder shows no visible scene but the serial number is still legible. The brass triggerguard shows a nice mellow patina, the iron backstrap matches the color of the other iron surfaces. The one-piece walnut grip rates near very good with a mixture of original and added finishes. A good entry level Dragoon. (16889-10) {ANTIQUE}

Manhattan Series V Navy Type Revolver

serial #8677 all matching including wedge, .36 caliber, 6 1/2" octagon barrel with a bright excellent bore. This is a very crispy Manhattan. The barrel shows the proper two-line Newark address with 1864 patent date. The barrel retains 98% strong original blue finish with crisp clear markings. The cylinder shows virtually all of its scene and retains about 40% original blue finish with the balance bearing a pleasing smooth brown patina. The frame and loading lever retain about 70% faded original color case-hardened finish with a couple small marks in the lower right forward portion of frame near right alignment stud which is missing. The brass gripstraps retain about 90% original silver plated finish with loss due to light thinning. The one-piece walnut grip rates excellent with just a couple handling marks and perhaps a little added light finish. A very clean Manhattan with tons of blue. (16229-103) {ANTIQUE}

Starr Model 1863 Single Action Percussion Army Revolver

serial #39328, .44 caliber, 8" round barrel with an about excellent bore. This is a very fine revolver. The barrel retains about 80% original blue finish with loss due primarily to some light flaking and with those areas toned to a pleasing smooth brown patina. The cylinder retains about 30% original blue also showing flaking and with exposed iron showing a mellow smooth brown patina. The frame retains about 20% thin original blue finish and is mostly a pleasing smooth brown patina. All markings remain clear and legible and the hammer shows some mottled original color case-hardened finish. The one-piece walnut grip rates very good with a good cartouche left side and with a good deal of original oil finish remaining. A nice example of these interesting Civil War revolvers. Factory Engraved Tipping & Lawden Model 2B Pepperbox

serial #1741, 30 RF, 3" four barrel cluster with good plus bores. This little pepperbox is engraved within the flute between the top two barrels "E.M. REILLY & Co. OXFORD St. LONDON" and features wonderful engraving. The barrels are engraved with nice wedges of scroll with stippled thumbprints on either side. The frame shows fabulous relief scroll with floral border motifs in near full coverage. The condition of this little pistol is also fabulous. The barrels retain about 95% original blue finish while the frame retains about 95% original silver plated finish which bears a pleasing mellow tarnish. The "TIPPING & LAWDEN" mark on left side of frame is overstruck in a herringbone pattern (as is common on Reilly retailer marked guns) with "SHARPS' PATENT" remaining unaltered. The hammer and bar type locking lever look to have been lightly cleaned. The two piece gutta percha floral grips rate very good showing just light wear. Fine Standard Shot Powder Display By The Chicago Shot Tower Company

This framed factory display piece measures 13 1/2" in diameter and shows 18 round windows displaying different size shot from No. 12 to 000. Each size of shot is named and also listed by how many pieces per ounce with the No. 12 being 2400 pieces per ounce and with the 000 being only 27 pieces per ounce. The printing on the background is in gold with a nice depiction of the factory including the shot tower at center of the circular marking. The paper rates near excellent with just some light foxing and staining present. The shot shows some oxidation and has a pleasing appearance. The round wooden frame rates about excellent overall. These displays are rare and highly desirable pieces of sporting advertising. (6993-2)

Presentation Quality American Standard Tool Company 22 Caliber Pocket Revolver

serial #24881, 22 short, 3 1/8" octagon barrel with a very good bore. This revolver shows wonderful relief floral scroll engraving on frame and barrel along with handsome border engraving around the barrel address and around the hammer. There is a sunburst motif on the top of the frame and handsome scroll and border work along the backstrap. The metal surfaces of revolver retain about 80% original nickel plated finish with most loss on barrel where exposed metal is a smooth even gray patina which is difficult to distinguish from the original nickel plate. The areas of the frame where finish is thinning (and there aren’t many) show nicely patinated brass showing through. The cylinder shows some areas of flaking where there is now some light pitting. The two-piece grips appear to be of bone and have a beautifully deep relief carved American eagle on the left panel with the right panel remaining smooth. The revolver comes in a period rosewood veneered case with green felt lining and an empty box of cartridges. A very high grade and extremely attractive American Standard Tool pocket revolver. A. H. Fox He Grade Super Fox Boxlock Double Ejectorgun

serial #29562, 12 Ga. (3”), 30” barrels choked full and full with bright excellent bores. The barrels retain about 98% excellent quality restored blue finish with some light muzzle wear and a remnant or two of light pitting beneath. The frame is lovely retaining 99% restored vibrant color case-hardening with the familiar light H-grade borderline engraving and makers name; the triggerguard shows excellent blue as well. The round knob pistolgrip buttstock rates excellent as professionally refinished with evidence of a repaired crack at left and right of top tang; it seems to have been effective and the stock seems sound and will not flex. The splinter forend is in a similar state of condition and both show perfectly chased checkering. The length of pull to the grooved hard rubber buttplate is 14 1/8” with drops of 1 5/8” and 3” (although the factory letter indicates 2 3/4”, the stock appears original in all respects). The safety is non-automatic and two of the screws show some light slot damage…they are not quite regulated and clearly someone with an incorrect width blade attempted to turn them. The gun locks up tightly with the top lever still right of center and the gun seems to operate properly mechanically. The included factory letter verifies the configuration and shows shipment in September of 1925 to W. R. Burkhard Co. (St. Paul Minn.). Really an excellent as-restored Super Fox that should be taken back afield for some waterfowl bustin in the fall seasons. (37034-6) (C&R)

Custom Savage Model 99 Rifle By Griffin & Howe

serial #147110, 250-3000, 22” barrel with a bright excellent bore. The metal surfaces retain about 98% G&H rust blue with negligible wear, the bolt nicely jeweled. The rifle is stocked classic style in nice English walnut with a left-side rounded shadowline cheekpiece. The stocks rate about excellent with light handling marks from field use and showing exceptional wrap-around checkering patterns with mullered borders at both grip and forend. The forend has a nice bone tip, the butt with extra checkering at the cheeks and an un-engraved oval monogram plate along the toeline. The length of pull to the checkered steel trapdoor buttplate is 13 1/2” and the trigger is nicely checkered. The belly of the frame is neatly engraved “John D. Dupuis” and the arm is no longer a take-down, with the barrel now fixed. The rifle is sighted with a bead front, folding leaf rear, Lyman 29 1/2 rear and an early Lyman Alaskan with exposed dials on G&H quick-detach side mount ring and base set, showing a crosshair reticle and very good optics; the scope body toning to a plum. “Rebuilt by Griffin & Howe Inc. The metal surfaces retain about 98% G&H rust blue with no real mentionable wear, the bolt bright with nice engine-turning. The rifle is stocked classic style in nice English walnut with a generous semi-beavertail-like forend. The stocks rate about excellent with light handling marks from field use and showing excellent wrap-around checkering patterns at both grip and forend, the butt with extra checkering at the cheeks, the forend with a nice bone tip; there is a gold oval monogram plate along the toeline engraved “PAS/(surmounted)H”. The length of pull to the checkered steel Niedner-style buttplate is 13 1/8”. The rifle is sighted with a banded sporting front hooded ramp with red bead sight, no rear seat, Lyman 30 1/2 rear and a Lyman Alaskan on G&H quick-detach side mount ring and base set, showing a crosshair reticle and excellent optics. “No. 2141 Griffin & Howe Inc. Custom Savage Model 99 Rifle By Thomas Shelhamer

serial #422868, 300 Savage, 24” barrel with a bright excellent bore. The metal surfaces retain about 95% excellent rust blue, the loss primarily even fading with the tiniest amount of surface rust near the muzzle which has resulted in some light pinprick pits. The bolt remains bright and the lever exhibits excellent color case-hardening. The rifle is stocked Monte Carlo-style in very nice English walnut with a flared left-side cheekpiece with shadowline. There are nice checkered panels at the capped pistolgrip with extra checkering in a diamond pattern at the cheeks. The slightly semi-beavertail-like forend has a wrap-around pattern and nice bone tip; the stocks rate about excellent with light handling marks from use afield. The length of pull to the checkered steel Niedner-style buttplate is 13 3/4” and the butt is Shelhamer-stamped beneath the plate and scratch-numbered “1006”. The rifle is sighted with a Savage bead front and Marbles 95 adjustable leaf rear with a Lyman 29 1/2 on the tang. Truly a beautiful Shelhamer-stocked Savage 99 overall. British Brass Barreled Percussion Blunderbuss With Top Snap Bayonet

About .75 caliber, 13 1/4” barrel with a very good bore. The barrel is an overall lightly tarnished goldenrod patina with some sparsely scattered light handling marks, showing “London” and British proofs at its rear. The lock and percussion hammer are an overall dull brown patina with very minor scroll engraving; the arm is a conversion to percussion from flint by the drum and nipple method. There is a simple ramrod thimble and tailpipe with the triggerguard showing a nicely chiseled front extension with simple floral engraving on the bow, the tang of the butt as well shows some light engraving as does the sideplate. The English walnut stock rates very good as lightly refinished many years ago, showing two repairs to the forend left and right flanking the barrel channel and a well-done repair to a chip at the left-hand side of the tang. The stock retains a number of minor bruises and handling marks from the years and is coarsely checkered at the wrist. The top snap bayonet measures 11 3/4” overall length with a full-length face flute and three-quarter-length back flutes. It is a gray and brown patina with overall light pinprick pitting. The spring is robust and the bayonet locks in place well, its catch is somewhat loose. The lock is crisp and mechanically functional and what is likely the original ramrod with wad-pull end is included. (37082-6) {ANTIQUE}

Early Unmarked Iron Barrel British Blunderbuss With Top Snap Bayonet

About .65 cal., 12” widely flaring iron barrel with an oxidized bore. The metal surfaces are a deep gray and speckled brown patina with overall light pitting, some more moderate. There are British proofs at the rear of barrel and a partial maker name on the lockplate, it is no longer legible. The arm has had a long service life and is a drum-and-nipple conversion from flint. There are a simple ramrod thimble and tailpipe of brass with the guard’s front extension a nice pineapple finial with light engraving on the bow and the long tang of the buttplate. The English walnut stock rates about very good and is remarkably sound with much original varnish and a checkered wrist, the forend made without nosecap. The bayonet is 10 1/2” overall with a 9” blade with near full-length face flute and three-quarter-length back flutes, the spring is robust but the catch somewhat light at the muzzle. The lock is crisp and functions well and what is likely the original ramrod with wad-pull end is present. A very nice early iron barreled blunderbuss overall with a great antique look. Custom Savage Model 99 Rifle By Griffin & Howe

serial #253932, 250-3000, 22” barrel with a bright excellent bore. The metal surfaces retain about 97% G&H rust blue with very light fading, some muzzle wear and light handling marks, the lever with very good color case-hardening. The rifle is stocked classic style in nice English walnut and is straight grip. The stocks rate very good plus to about excellent with light handling marks from field use and show nicely checkered grip panels with a wrap-around pattern at the forend, these with mullered borders, the butt with extra checkering at the cheeks, the forend with a nice bone tip. The length of pull to the checkered steel buttplate is 13 3/4” and there is the beginning of a 1 1/2” crack at the rear of the tang, it could easily be arrested and made to disappear by a good wood man. The rifle is sighted with a Savage bead sight, stamped Savage rear, and a G&H quick-detach side mount ring and base set with 3/4” rings. The gun is not G&H marked at all, but the style and quality of the work are undoubtedly Griffin & Howe. A very handy Savage 99 overall, very huntable and very attractive. Smith Civil War Carbine By Poultney & Trimble

serial #10011, .50 cal. percussion, 21 1/2” barrel with a bright near excellent bore except for some light pitting in the grooves near the breech. This carbine retains plenty of finish with crisp markingS throughout. The barrel is predominately a plum brown with stronger blue colors near the muzzle with full colors on the triggerguard and receiver furniture. The barrel receiver and receiver proper retain bold case-hardened colors on the sides with thinning colors on the bottom and top. About 20% of these areas have flaked to gun metal gray on the top and to brown hues on the bottom. The buttstock has some scattered dents and shallow wear near the toe leaving the buttplate proud. It remains in very good to excellent condition overall with the buttplate flaking to a mottled mix of gunmetal gray and brown. The forend and the barrel rate about the same as the butt and buttplate. The barrel, barrel breech and frame numbers all match and there is a crisp cartouche on the left wrist. The bar remains intact but the ring is missing. There is a brass inventory plate on the toe marked “41”. This is a superb example of a Smith Carbine with a crisp tight action that still fully functions. (86983-2) {ANTIQUE}

British Unmarked Saw Handle Percussion Boot Pistol

About .48 cal., 4 1/4" octagon barrel with a smooth very good bore having spots of pitting. The case-hardened barrel shows brilliant vivid case colors with a band of scroll engraving around the muzzle. The left side of the barrel has toned to a spotted pewter with some scattered fine oxidation staining attributed perhaps to boot carry. The German silver handle and ramrod guide have a lightly softened finish and is nicely scroll engravED on the frame sides, butt, triggerguard and topflat which has carried onto the rear topflat of the barrel. The case-hardened hammer is also scroll engraved with traces of original colors muting to dull grayish brown. The curved ramrod hinge shows light line engraving and what appears to be a proper steel ramrod is present. Birmingham proofs are present on the left side of the barrel and lower left front of the frame. A lovely example all-metal construction saw handle pistol. (57080-23) {ANTIQUE}

Burnside Fifth Model Percussion Carbine

serial #14706, 54 cal. percussion, 21” barrel with an oxidized and pitted bore. This is a well used carbine with good mechanical function and crisp lock up. The barrel is now an even brown patina with some oxidation present. The frame, hammer, breechblock and tang are a mottled mix of gunmetal gray and brown. The remaining parts have also taken on a smooth brown patina with a few areas of gunmetal gray seen. The buttstock rates about fair to good with moderate handling marks and some lightly cleaned burn damage on the wrist by the left side of the receiver. The wood was lightly refinished in far past probably to fix the burn mark which has left the stock furniture proud OF the wood. The forend rates fair with heavy wear along the top left that has left the edge scalloped from continuous handling. This fine old gun has seen some solid use in the last century and makes one wish the “gun could talk” to reveal its past. (86983-5) {ANTIQUE}

U.S. Model 1902 Philippine Double Action Revolver By Colt
Lot # 396 (Sale Order: 396 of 824)
serial #47863, 45 Colt, 6” barrel with a lightly oxidized bore. This revolver saw some use during its life cycle but survived much better than most of the Constabulary guns. The one piece frame retains about 70% blue finish with the backstrap worn to gunmetal gray, the frontstrap now an even brown patina, thinning finish on the topstrap and the cleaned pitting on both sides of the frame near the grip frame. The oversized triggerguard has worn to gray on the bottom with 50% remaining. The barrel has lost most of its finish on the ejector rod housing and at the muzzle with about 75% still visible. The cylinder has about 90% left with high edge wear. The checkered hard rubber grips are in wonderful condition with light wear that is mostly visible on the Rampant Colts. The serial numbers on the frame, cylinder and loading gate correctly match and the appropriate inspector, model and U.S. markings are present. Most of the 1902’s were shipped with a Rampant Colt in a circle but few such as this one were not. This is a first-rate example of these hefty revolvers. (87008-13) {C&R}

Unmarked Custom Springfield Krag Jorgenson Magazine Sporting Rifle

serial #150511, 30-40 Krag, 24” barrel with an excellent bore. The barrel is primarily a mottled dark gray-pewter faded blue with the receiver and magazine cover showing a mottled oil-quenched case-hardened finish; the magazine gate with a fading polished blue. The bolt body and handle are bright with very good pale fire-temper blue on the extractor; the triggerguard is a bright pewter patina. The rifle is very Seymour Griffin-like overall, the straight grain walnut stock rating about excellent with only sparse very light handling marks here and there and an un-engraved shield-shaped monogram plate along the toeline. The rifle is checkered with bordered grip panels which meet atop the wrist, the forend in a wrap-around pattern. There is a flared left-side cheekpiece, ebony forend tip, hard rubber pistolgrip cap, round quick-detach, very G&H-like swivel studs; the swivels are present and grooved steel buttplate for a 14” length of pull. The arm is sighted with a Redfield banded sporting front ramp with wood grain-like stippling on the face of the ramp. The hood is present over the brass bead sight, the rear bridge with a Lyman 48 receiver sight. The trigger has been honed and is quite good. (NSN) 6.5x55, 29 1/2” barrel with a bright excellent bore. The metal surfaces retain about 95% original blue, the loss due primarily to even fading and some wear on the triggerguard. The bolt body and receiver races remain bright, as does the bolt knob, the extractor with some nice pale fire temper blue. The rifle is stocked classic style in European walnut with checkered grip and wrap-around forearm patterns, the stock rating very good to excellent overall. There is a bone gripcap and a grooved bone buttplate for a 14” length of pull. The right side of the butt has a circular silver monogram plate affixed with a single brad which is engraved “F.Rosenberg” and alloy content coded “830S” (Scandinavian silver has a millesimal fineness of 830). The rifle retains its original front sight on square block, adjustable for windage, and has an aperture sight mounted to the striker shroud on the bolt. A couple of the screw heads show some slot damage and there are some circumferential scratches around the screw recesses in the triggerguard. Frantz Munch Rosenberg was a Norwegian sport shooter and author. He was born in Oslo and competed in trap shooting at the 1912 Summer Olympics in Stockholm and wrote numerous articles on shooting and hunting and authored Big Game Shooting in British Columbia and Norway. The silver plate and Mr. Benenson’s notes are the only connections to Mr. Rosenberg, Mark having purchased the arm from Karl Hanevik at the Las Vegas gun show in 2000, according to his notes. Springfield Armory Model 1903A1 National Match Model Of 1938 Rifle

serial #1520095, 30-06, 24” 2-38 dated SA-marked barrel with crisp star gauge mark at the muzzle showing a bright about excellent bore showing the very beginnings of some sparsely scattered frosting here and there. The rifle has been loosely converted to U.S.M.C. Model 1941 configuration with the addition of steel target blocks on the receiver and barrel, the handguard appropriately relieved, the bolt handle retaining its original configuration. The barrel has toned to a plum brown with the receiver a mottled pewter and faded gray-brown, the honed races still mostly bright, showing the remnants of the right-race center punch mark 1 1/2” to the rear of the receiver ring. The bolt handle is primarily a pewter gray patina with some light oxidation, the bolt body is mostly bright with some light oxidation staining retaining strong armory polish, it is un-marked, with striker and shroud showing a dark oil-quenched blue. The bottom metal has toned to a dull pewter patina, the floorplate with cleaning and tool marks; the front band shows remnants of overall light pitting. The “C” stock rates very good to very good plus with much original finish and minor handling marks and dings, the butt with three more-prominent bruises. The left stock flat shows a crisp “SA/GAW/(ordnance wheel)” cartouche and the circled “P” firing proof on the pistolgrip face. The handguard is devoid of finish and was neatly milled for scope base and ring clearance. The front sight base holds a small brass bead Lyman sight with the receiver ring mounted with a Lyman 48 receiver sight. Overall a very attractive National Match rifle that likely shoots as good as it looks, with the added bonus of being scope-ready awaiting only an appropriate Lyman or Unertl telescopic sight. Composite French New Model 1763 Heavy Flintlock Musket

About .72 cal, 44 1/2” barrel with a lightly oxidized bore. The metal surfaces show an overall plum brown coating of smoke or tobacco residue beneath which is an armory bright pewter patina, there are sparse smatterings of light oxidation present. There are some light arsenal markings on the left barrel radius which are not fully legible, one appears to be the number “68” beneath a fleur-de-lis along with what is likely a partial “St. Etienne” marking and the tang is clearly engraved “1763”. The lockplate is a similar dull gray patina showing some minor pitting on the cock. It is clearly “Charleville” engraved beneath the remnants of an original “St. Etienne” arsenal stamp. There is a brass blade atop the front band and under lug for bayonet mounting, the barrel bands are all a lightly oxidized brown patina as is the triggerguard and its bow, showing light pitting. The buttplate shows a bit more pitting, as is typical and the sideplate is the new 1763 pattern. The stock rates very good plus and is unmolested with overall minor dings and handling marks from the years, there are a couple minor chips around the lockplate and a minor chip at the rear of the barrel tang. There is a capital “V” inspectors marking on the left stock flat and the number “36” has been neatly incise-carved into the wrist to the rear of the barrel tang. “PC” is stamped on the sideplate and on the toeline of the stock directly to the rear of the triggerguard tang. Additionally “No. 1” is stamped on the comb line directly in front of the buttplate tang, the left side of the butt shows another partial stamping either “VW” or an upside down “MA”, unfortunately only the M or W is visible, the other character is only partial and therefore illegible. What is likely the original ramrod is present and the lock is crisp and mechanically functional and the sling swivels are intact. An added bonus with this arm is what appears to be its original bayonet. The bayonet features a 13 7/8” blade with one third length face flute and deep full-length back flutes. It is 1 1/8” wide at its rear-most section. There are deeply impressed touch marks, one appears to be a star, one is illegible, the other appears to be a letter beneath a crown. The bayonet has the same coating of smoke also with some minor oxidation present and gunmetal gray toning. It has an L-shape mortised without any provision for locking ring, it fits this musket precisely. The gun appears to be in original flint in every respect. Really a very nice, very convincing example overall of a very clean looking “Charleville” style musket, assembled very many years ago, but not from the period of the American Revolution, with an original bayonet with some very nice markings.
