Wolseley 4/44 Saloon

Lot # 1 (Sale Order: 1 of 71)

PLEASE NOTE: The service books confirming that this lot had covered 39,000 miles by 1965 have been lost. - Supplied new to Mrs & Mrs Harvey of Stafford (purchase invoice on file)- Former award winner and featured in Practical Classics magazine- Odometer shows a credible but unwarranted 69,000 milesFurther Info:This lovingly-presented, home-market Wolseley was purchased new in May 1955 by Mr & Mrs Harvey of Stafford from Charles Clark & Son for the princely sum ú904 3/10d - the original bill of sale comes with the car. The service books confirm 39,000 miles had been covered by 1965 and it seems a Gold Seal engine had been fitted at some stage. 'VFF 373' has had just two families of keepers since, the second of which, a Mr & Mrs Bruce Allen, purchased it from Staffordshire dealer Jones & Alcock in May 1995. Some body repairs, a total respray and refreshing of the brightwork were carried out in 2001. Seven years later the engine and gearbox were thoroughly overhauled and the wiring loom replaced. The 4/44 featured in Practical Classics magazine in 2009 and has attended countless rallies and exhibitions over the years, winning awards along the way. A fine example that currently displays just 69,000 miles, a figure the vendor believes to be correct.

Rosengart Type LR2/R5

Lot # 2 (Sale Order: 2 of 71)

- Rare LR2/R5 model only available from July 1930 into 1931- Refurbished with full-race engine and repro alloy bodywork- Campaigned at Prescott and Shelsey Walsh, spares packageFurther Info:In common with the coincident German BMW Dixi, the French Rosengart LR2 models were based on the ubiquitous Austin Seven and therefore built under licence. Only available from July 1930 into 1931, the LR2/R5 derivative was marketed as an affordable sportscar. Imported to the UK during 1981 but decidedly tired by the time the vendor acquired it, chassis R58779 was subsequently treated to a 'ground up' refurbishment. Intended for competition use, the Rosengart was fitted with a full race engine (the original unit accompanies the car), three-speed crash gearbox, electric SU fuel pump and reproduction alloy two-seater bodywork etc. Road registered with the DVLA as 'BF 5449' on May 6th 2010, the LR2/R5 has since been campaigned at Prescott and Shelsey Walsh as well as twice participating in the Pre-War Austin Seven Club's Bert Hadley Memorial Championship. Nicely detailed, the two-seater is described by the vendor as being in 'good' condition with regard to its bodywork, engine, electrical equipment and interior trim, while he rates the paintwork as 'tidy'. An affordable entry to Vintage motorsport, this rare and appealing LR2/R5 is offered for sale with its original back axle (requiring work) and two overhauled Rosengart gearboxes.

Fiat 500 L

Lot # 3 (Sale Order: 3 of 71)

- Three owners from new and 48,500 recorded miles- Extensively restored between 2007 and 2011- Recent engine overhaul and MoT'd until November 2015Further Info:The success of today's Fiat 500 has reminded us just how brilliant the Giacosa-penned original was. The very pretty-looking 1971 500L offered was extensively renovated to a high standard by a retired classic car restorer between 2007 and 2011, following a 15 year lay-up. Such mechanical items as the brake cylinders, front leaf spring and wheel bearings were renewed, as were the ignition parts, battery and carpet. The transmission was fully checked, upgraded 19mm driveshafts fitted, the carburettor overhauled, and the brightwork refurbished. Last year the engine was stripped and overhauled to factory specification and the little Fiat treated to a full service. At that stage the odometer displayed an unwarranted 48,205 - it now stands at 48,300. The car's resplendent bright Yellow bodywork is complemented by a mostly original' Black vinyl interior. The vendor currently classes the bodywork, paintwork, upholstery, engine and transmission as excellent' and is selling the 500 with MOT to November 17.

- Fabulous and highly influential 'art moderne' design - Probably the most original example on the market- Recent 9,000 Euros mechanical overhaulFurther Info:Manufactured in late 1936, this splendid 302 Airstream Saloon benefits from a recent professional mechanical restoration. However the coachwork remains untouched and the interior features the original carpets, mats, seats, door panels, instruments and switches, while period accessories include the original air horn. Delivered new to Cherbourg, it comes complete with French Carte Gris, Peugeot 'Lettre D'Attestation' and UK HMRC NOVA entry - a UK V5C has been applied for. This is probably the most original 302s currently for sale, and benefits from an untouched 'oily rag' appearance combined with restored mechanicals. Aston Martin V8 Vantage

Lot # 5 (Sale Order: 5 of 71)

- Entered from the estate of the late Richard Colton Esq.- Manual, two previous keepers and 19,000 miles from new- Fourth service carried out at 15,343 milesFurther Info:Introduced at the 2005 Geneva Salon, the V8 Vantage featured Aston Martin's advanced VH platform (bonded aluminium) architecture and a 4.3-litre 'quad-cam' dry-sumped V8 developing some 380bhp and 302lbft. Available with a choice of manual or automatic transmission, the newcomer was reputedly capable of 0-60mph in 4.7 seconds and 175mph. Finished in Merlot Red Metallic with Sandstorm leather upholstery, this desirable six-speed manual transmission example was supplied new to Mrs S Lane by Stratstone of Mayfair on 30th March 2007. The late Richard Colton became the Aston Martin's third owner when he bought it from Super Vettura Ltd of Surrey for ú43,949 some four years later. The accompanying leather-bound owner's guide shows that the V8 Vantage received its pre-delivery inspection at 41 miles and has since been serviced at 1,202, 4,081, 10,393 and 15,343 miles respectively. Now showing just over 19,000 miles, the junior supercar's impressive specification includes 19-inch alloy wheels, Grey brake callipers, power folding door mirrors, bright finish grille, HID headlamps, electric front seats, satellite navigation with colour screen, Bluetooth telephone system, 6-disc autochanger and air-conditioning. Fiat 128 SL

Lot # 6 (Sale Order: 6 of 71)

- 1 registered keeper & 23,000 miles from new- Original sales invoice, service book and owners handbook- Said to be in 'very good overall' condition and MOT'd into June 2016Further Info:Fiat have been masters of the small car since the days of the Topolino, and the 128 is one of many such milestone motorcars to have emanated from the company over the years - unveiled in 1969, it was voted European Car of the Year for 1970. It was initially only available as a two- or four-door Saloon and Estate car, and the trendier-looking three-door Coupe version was not launched until the Turin Motor Show of 1971. It featured an all new body on a shortened version of the Saloon platform. Its sprightly performance allowed a 0-60mph time of around 15 seconds and top speed of 85mph. The 128 being sold is a 1972 Coupe. It is finished in Green with a Tan vinyl interior. The log book still only shows one name, and he believes the indicated mileage of 23,000 to be genuine. Offered with the original sales invoice, service book and owners handbook the vendor describes the bodywork, engine, transmission, gearbox and trim as all 'very good'. It is MOT'd into June 2016.

Triumph GT6

Lot # 7 (Sale Order: 7 of 71)

- Finished in Sapphire Blue with 22,000 recorded miles - Offered with photographic evidence of the 'body off' restoration- Large collection of invoices and old MOT's included in the saleFurther Info:Cars take the blame for many things, and it seems the protracted body-off restoration of 'NGY 145L' not only kept it from the road for many years, but was responsible for wrecking a marriage in the process! The good news is that full photographic evidence of the work, together with multiple invoices and MOTs, apparently confirms the amazingly low indicated mileage of 22,210. Finished in Sapphire Blue and trimmed in a complementary shade of the same colour, this handsome 1972 MKIII GT6 therefore represents a rare opportunity, and is considered by the vendor to have 'very good' bodywork, paintwork, interior trim, six-cylinder engine and four-speed manual gearbox. With 98bhp on tap, the GT6 can sprint to 60mph sprint in 10 seconds and on to a top speed of 110mph, thereby comfortably outpacing its main rival, the MGB. Some 40,926 examples were made - 13,042 of which were the MKIII variant.

Humber 9/20 Tourer

Lot # 8 (Sale Order: 8 of 71)

- Retained by its previous keeper's family for c.40 years- Subject to a decades long restoration and still very smart- More recent attention to clutch, dynastart, lighting, brakes, tyres etcFurther Info:This charming Vintage Tourer benefited from a major restoration not many years ago, since when it has covered very few miles. The previous family retained 'DP 7434' for no less than 40 years and it was during their tenure that a decades' long programme of improvement took place. Still more restorative work has occurred since the latest keeper took charge and included the installation of new gaskets and seals, Hardy Spicer propshaft discs, front dampers, and tyres (including spare). The braking system, wiring and Dynastart assembly have been overhauled and the Humber treated to a full service. It is beautifully finished in Grey over Black and trimmed in Brown button hide. The easily erected hood is of double duck. The vendor informs us that 'the engine starts easily and runs like new, the steering is light and direct, the suspension taut and the car a real pleasure to drive, with performance arguably a little superior to that of a comparable Rolls-Royce 20hp'. 'DP 7434' comes complete with running board-mounted fuel can and radiator topped with characterful temperature gauge.

Frazer Nash Fast Tourer

Lot # 9 (Sale Order: 9 of 71)

- Supplied new via J.B. Fenwick Ltd of Glasgow to Mr Brown- Continuous ownership from 1933 to date- Extensively restored by marque specialist Ian Lock Engineering during the mid-1980s- Sparingly used since completing the Frazer Nash Raid to the South Tyrol (June 9th - 23rd 1989)- Correct-type Anzani 1.5-litre engine allied to three-speed chain-drive transmission- Inspected by Winston Teague, Registrar of the Frazer Nash Car ClubFurther Info;According to the late David Thirlby's authoritative tome The Chain Drive Frazer Nash', this rakish Fast Tourer was completed in July 1926 and supplied new via J.B. Fenwick Ltd of Glasgow to a Mr Brown. The earliest document on file - a buff logbook issued by Leeds County Council during February 1933 - gives the 2+2-seater's chassis and engine numbers as 4520 and RH4520 respectively. The Frazer Nash remains registered as PF 5858' with chassis number 4520 to this day. Interestingly, David Thirlby records its initial chassis number as 1097. It is pure supposition but the issuing of a new logbook in 1933 may have been triggered by the Fast Tourer receiving a factory replacement chassis. Chain-Gang Nashs have always encouraged spirited driving and it is not unknown for accident damaged cars to have been rebuilt by the works in period.PF 5858' boasts a continuous ownership history from 1933 to date. Not only is the buff logbook augmented by a green continuation one but Nigel Griffiths Esq who owned the car from 1966 - 1972 did much to research its earlier history via letters to his predecessors. Mr Griffiths' correspondence reveals that the Frazer Nash passed through the hands of The Vale Engineering Co and Chiltern Cars as well as various private keepers and that it was re-bodied and uprated with an Alvis 12/50 big port' engine and rod brakes over time.Entering the current family ownership more than thirty years ago, PF 5858' joined a number of other Nashs including a TT Replica and Le Mans Replica etc. Entrusted to marque specialist Ian Lock Engineering for an extensive chassis up' restoration during the mid-1980s, the Fast Tourer was returned to original specification. Beautifully wrought, its aluminium over ash bodywork mimics that shown in various accompanying Motor Sport magazine road tests. A correct-type but substitute unit, its 1.5 litre Anzani sidevalve four-cylinder engine is allied to three-speed chain drive transmission (complete with a Frazer Nash Car Club-sourced replacement bevel box). The refurbishment was completed in time for PF 5858' to complete the Frazer Nash Raid to the South Tyrol from June 9th - 23rd 1989 which progressed via Brooklands, Pirmasens, Stuttgart, Innsbruck, Merano and Bolzano. Sparingly used since then, the Fast Tourer has recently undergone a sympathetic recommissioning (fluid change, check over, chassis greasing etc). Trimmed in Blue leather, the 2+2-seater upholstery is protected by a Black double duck hood, hood bag, and tonneau cover.Puzzled by the discrepancy between the chassis numbers quoted for PF 5858' in 1926 and 1933, the vendor's agent took the Fast Tourer to Winston Teague, the Frazer Nash Car Club Registrar, for inspection earlier this year. Mr Teague spent several hours examining and photographing the car. Chain Gang Nashs are notoriously easy to replicate, however, it is our understanding that the chassis which underpins PF 5858' has many of the hallmarks' of a genuine factory frame. For example the side rails are made from the right thickness of metal and there are signs of repair to traditional areas of weakness such as the Admiral's Walk' etc. In the absence of corroborating paperwork there can be no absolute guarantees as to the chassis frame's provenance. That said it appears correct and prospective purchasers are encouraged to contact Mr Teague for his opinion on the car.Nicely detailed, this delightful Frazer Nash is described by the vendor as being in very good overall' condition with regard to its engine, transmission, electrical equipment, bodywork and interior trim. Worthy of close inspection, PF 5858' would afford its new owner entry to one of the old car world's most enthusiastic owners' clubs.

Porsche 911 Carrera 3.0 Sport

Lot # 10 (Sale Order: 10 of 71)

- RHD manual transmission UK car supplied by Withers of Winchester- Rare example of the desirable Carrera 3.0 - Sport specification including sunroof and front spoiler - Recent bare metal repaint and light recommissioning- Registering 77,600 miles- In the previous ownership for 28 years and used sparingly- Expected to possess a fresh MOT by the time of saleResearch indicates that just 3691 Carrera 3.0s left the Zuffenhausen factory between 1976 and 1977, making this a rare example of an increasingly collectible model. Built for the non-American market only, the model's K-Jetronic fuel injection system resulted in a torque curve belying the loss of 10bhp over the Carrera 2.7 it replaced, whilst allowing up to 25% better fuel economy - a perfect remedy for the aftermath of the 1973 oil crisis when Porsche had to adapt its range to the new realities of rising petrol prices and stricter emission controls. Developing some 200bhp at 6000rpm and developing 216 lb ft of torque at 4200rpm, 0-60mph was available in just 6.3 seconds with a nominal top speed of over 145mph.A RHD UK car with manual transmission combined with the desirable Sport package including front and rear spoilers, RUL 5R was supplied new by Withers of WInchester and first registered on 12 April 1977. Following a brief sojourn in Australia in the late 1980s, the car returned to the UK and was placed into storage. Following acquisition by the current owner it has been the subject of a recent bare metal repaint in metallic red - the vendor advising no signs of accident damage or repairs were found during this process. Having been sparingly used by a previous long-term owner, it now registers a believed genuine 77,673 miles on its odometer at the time of cataloguing and further benefits from Fuchs alloys and the desirable option of a sunroof.Offered with Swansea V5 document, handbook and assorted invoices, RUL 5R is expected to possess a fresh MoT certificate by the time of sale. As prices of RS models continue to accelerate beyond the means of most collectors, the limited production Carrera 3.0 must surely represent a wise investment.

Citroen D Super 5

Lot # 11 (Sale Order: 11 of 71)

- One former keeper and in current ownership for c.30 years- European show winner since 1987- Awarded with over 200 trophies and prizesFurther Info:Intended as a more affordable and less complicated version of the iconic DS, the ID19 was launched in 1956 and initially lacked its sibling's hydraulically-operated clutch and gearchange, and unique powered steering and braking systems. However, the ID range was subsequently developed in parallel to the DS and by 1972 was offered in three versions - the 1985cc D Special and D Super and the 115bhp 2175cc D Super 5. By then, ID specifications had greatly improved and the latter was equipped with powered steering and braking and a five-speed manual gearbox. This truly stunning-looking right-hand drive D Super 5 hails from 1973 and teams White (Blanc Meije) bodywork with eye-catching Reddy-Orange upholstery and Grey carpets. It's had just two keepers from new, the last of which has retained it for nearly 30 years and taken the odometer to its current, unwarranted, reading of 66,368 miles. A European show winner since 1987, it possesses its own display cabinets that bulge with in excess of 200 awards. Crowned National Champion at both the Welsh Benson & Hedges Concours (1990) and Popular Classics Roadshow (1991), the Citroen also placed at the Scottish Benson & Hedges Concours in 1991 and 1998. A television star with appearances on Top Gear and Fifth Gear to its credit, FRA 577L' benefits from a stainless steel exhaust system, while its clutch was replaced in 2013, and the wheels refurbished and new tyres fitted in February this year. The vendor unsurprisingly classes the rust-free' bodywork, paintwork, interior, four-cylinder engine and five-speed manual transmission as all being in excellent condition', and is now seeking a suitably caring new home for his outstanding classic CitroÙn which is MOT'd until June 2016.

Buick Model HX-45 Touring

Lot # 12 (Sale Order: 12 of 71)

- Supplied new to John Evans of Swansea and chauffeur driven until 1932 - Bodied by John Norman (Cardiff) Ltd, restored late 1990s / early 2000s - Said to possess 'very good' 3.9 litre engine, gearbox and interiorFurther Info:The nameplate inside its driver's door shows this delightful four-door four-seat Touring Buick to have been bodied by John Norman Coachbuilder (Cardiff) Ltd, Wales, the country it remained in until purchased by the Somerset-based vendor last year. The car's first owner was textile importer John Hugh Evans of Swansea, who evidently employed a chauffeur to drive him between the stores to whom he sold cloth and haberdashery. In 1932 title passed to timber merchant Dan Lloyd of Bwlchllan, who reputedly installed the vehicle in his works and retained it for some 46 years before selling to a Mr Bliss of Nanteos Mansion, Aberystwyth. He originally planned to restore the Buick, but had a change of heart when he realised just how much was entailed, whereupon it was consigned to a field until rescued by John Powell in 1998.Making good use of existing contacts in the United States, Powell purchased a variety of spares and a donor car. He also acquired a centre lathe on which to make other parts from scratch. After three or four years of hard graft, the Buick was finally up and running once again. The vendor (only the second keeper to drive the Buick on public roads) acquired it to use as a wedding car, but those plans fell through, hence its current availability. 'CY 4210' is finished in Maroon over Black and trimmed in Maroon leather. It is powered by a 3.9-litre straight-six OHV engine of 27.6hp, that drives through a three-speed manual gearbox. Braking is on the rear wheels alone. The fuel is nowadays fed by an electric pump, but the original Autovac comes with the car. The vendor currently regards the bodywork and paintwork as 'excellent', the engine, transmission and interior trim as 'very good' and the Black double duck hood in as-new condition.

Ford Zephyr MK II Convertible

Lot # 13 (Sale Order: 13 of 71)

PLEASE NOTE: The registration number 'SVC 1' showing on this vehicle is not included in the sale, but is available via separate negotiation. - Four registered keepers from new and just 75,000 recorded miles- Originally supplied with triple carburettors and six-branch exhaust manifold - Always well preserved, original handbook and warranty cardFurther Info:Ford's Consul, Zephyr and Zodiac models were heavily revamped and restyled for the 1956 model year, during which the engine capacity of the six-cylinder cars was increased to 2553cc, which in turn raised the output to 86bhp. The model came with the choice of three-speed manual gearbox and the option of overdrive, or Borg Warner automatic transmission. The substantial hood of the Convertible version could be purchased with or without power assistance, and lowered in two stages; the first of which was a glamorous-looking 'de ville' position. An overdrive-equipped Convertible put through its paces by Motor magazine delivered a top speed of 88.3mph and a 0-60mph acceleration time of 17.0 seconds - as tested, the car cost ú1193.This truly delightful Convertible has been known to the vendor since it was new, as he worked in the road where it first lived. The Zephyr was supplied to its first owner by Rugby Autocar; dealers for the Coventry and Warwickshire area at the time. It was first registered in August 1958 and has had just three owners since, and apparently covered just 75,000 miles. The Ford has never undergone restoration and, aside of the occasional bout of cosmetic paintwork, remains remarkably original; even down to the Aquaplane triple carburettor and six-branch exhaust manifold conversion that was fitted when the car was new. Very comprehensively equipped, the Zephyr also comes with overdrive, full and half tonneau covers, polished wheels trims, period radio, auxiliary lights and badge bar with numerous badges. Finished in an eye-catching shade of Red and trimmed in Cream with matching hood and tonneaus, this wonderfully evocative '50s Ford is now offered complete with history file containing MOT certificates back to 1980, items of Ford Owners' Club material, the original handbook and warranty card, plus various hand-written items contributed by former owners.PLEASE NOTE: The registration number 'SVC 1' showing on this vehicle is not included in the sale, but is available via separate negotiation.

Maserati 4200 GT Coupe Cambiocorsa

Lot # 16 (Sale Order: 16 of 71)

- Entered from the estate of the late Richard Colton Esq.- 6-speed 'Cambiocorsa' transmission, new clutch 3,400 miles ago- 4244cc V8, 46,700 recorded miles, MOT'd till June 2016Further Info:Unveiled at the 2002 Detroit Show, the 177mph Maserati Coupe (a.k.a. 4200 GT) was styled by Giorgetto Giugiaro of Italdesign. Developing 385bhp/332lbft, its 4244cc V8 engine was allied to a six-speed transmission that could be had in conventional manual or 'Cambiocorsa' guises (the latter incorporating electrohydraulic assistance and F1-style steering wheel paddles). The late Richard Colton became the fourth owner of chassis 000006568 when he purchased it from Seymour Pope Ltd on 5th April 2012 for ú14,200. Alta Supercharged Voiturette Single Seater

Lot # 18 (Sale Order: 18 of 71)

- Built for Hugh C. Hunter by R.R. Jackson of Brooklands fame with input from Zillwood Sinbad' Milledge- Raced pre- and post-WW2 at Brooklands, Crystal Palace, Shelsey Walsh, Silverstone and Goodwood etc- Current ownership since 1990 with numerous HGPCA, VSCC and Goodwood Revival outings- Supercharged Alta DOHC engine, independent suspension and ENV pre-selector transmission- The subject of a feature article by Mick Walsh in Classic & Sports Car magazineFurther Info:I consider Geoffrey Taylor, the Alta's designer, as a sort of pre-war Colin Chapman ahead of his time and very concerned with lightness. And he designed and built virtually everything the engine, supercharger and chassis. I think the Alta's rigid chassis and independent suspension would have had much more influence if the war hadn't got in the way. It was very light - the car weighed 11.5cwt, less than the ERAs, the 4CLT Maserati or the MG and Riley specials it was up against. With a 2-litre engine it began to match, even sometimes beat the ERAs, which were the top voiturettes at the time' (F1 and Indy Car designer Len Terry, Motor Sport May 2001).Born into a wealthy family, Hugh Curling Hunter became altogether more serious about his racing during 1937 when, at the age of twenty-six, he bought a Frazer Nash-BMW 328 and Alta Voiturette Single-Seater. Designated chassis 62IS (I = Independent Suspension, S = Supercharged), the latter was delivered to R.R. Jackson's Brooklands premises as a kit of parts. An Alta owner himself, the famed tuner / special builder entrusted the project to his lead consultant Zillwood Sinbad' Milledge who had proven adept at sorting suspension geometry, designing crankshafts / conrods / brake drums and crafting aerodynamic bodywork. Aside from Hugh Hunter's Alta, Milledge helped hone the Multi-Union, Appleton Special, Bentley Jackson and Freikaiserwagen among others.Sporting a higher headrest fairing and more enveloping silhouette than George Abecassis' similar Alta (chassis 61IS), Hugh Hunter's car yielded him a coveted Brooklands 120mph badge and also showed considerable pace at Crystal Palace and Shelsey Walsh. Campaigned throughout 1938 and into the following year before being supplanted in Hunter's affections by an ex-Mille Miglia winning Alfa Romeo 8C 2900B, chassis 62IS changed hands several times during WW2. Reputedly resident in a china shop for a while, the advent of peace saw J.H. Williams acquire the single-seater. Rebodied in the style of a post-WW2 Alta Grand Prix car with what is rumoured to have been factory assistance, chassis 62IS resumed its racing career at a variety of sprint and hillclimb venues not to mention such new circuits as Goodwood and Silverstone.Sold by Mr Williams to Basil Tye, the Alta is known to have belonged thereafter to Lady Mary Grosvenor (who campaigned it in 1.5 and 2.0 litre guises), Albert Wake, Frank Lockhart, Bill Little, Hugh Clifford, John Bateson, Vintage Racing Autos, Hugh Clifford (again), Peter and John Moores, John Pearson and Bob Jones before entering the current ownership during 1990. Extensively fettled thereafter - including the fitment of a more pre-WW2 looking body - chassis 62IS has enjoyed numerous outings with the Historic Grand Prix Cars' Association and Vintage Sports Car Club. Invited to participate in the first Goodwood Revival meeting some seventeen years ago, it has since contested the Goodwood Trophy for Grand Prix and Voiturette cars on several occasions the last being in 2010. Understood to displace over 2 litres, its four-cylinder DOHC Alta engine is allied to ENV four-speed pre-selector transmission. Not campaigned of late, the single-seater is nevertheless in running order and has recently been driven by Mick Walsh as part of a multi-page feature article due to appear in an upcoming issue of Classic & Sportscar magazine. Eligible for numerous prestigious events, this historic Alta is offered for sale with a spare set of wheels, expired FIA papers plus sundry other documentation and spares.

Alvis 12/50 TG Sportsman Saloon

Lot # 19 (Sale Order: 19 of 71)

PLEASE NOTE: The engine size quoted on the V5 document is 1479cc and is believed to be incorrect. Many 12/50 models were fitted with a 1496cc engine whilst the TG series were fitted with a 1645cc unit. - Previously owned by respected collector Andrew Booth Esq.- Older restoration which presents extremely well- Swansea V5 document and current MoT to 20th May 2016Many are the committed enthusiasts who could comfortably afford a more valuable vintage car than their 12/50 Alvis, but who find their needs amply satisfied by the many benefits that the model offers. Tough, reliable, and endowed with well above average performance from its OHV 1.5-litre engine, combined with reasonable economy, the 12/50 boasts good straightforward engineering and is supported by the most comprehensive technical information plus the availability of a wide range of spares. This example of the elegant Sportsman Saloon, Car No. 10393, is the result of a comprehensive older restoration following it being unearthed after having been put into storage in 1958. It features a luxurious red leather interior - typical of the Carbodies design, and exterior finish and brightwork which is described as "excellent" by the vendor. Upon completion of the restoration work in 1985, it achieved a concours win at the October Alvis rally at Chessington. In the current ownership since 2011, it is described as starting easily and benefiting from considerable concealed stowage. There is an extensive history file, including a photographic record of the restoration work carried out in the 1980s. A photograph also accompanies the car showing it at Woburn Park in June 1958 for the Register's 10th anniversary. In 2005, it was featured in an article in the Hungarian motor magazine Veteran Auto & Motor. Finished in Maroon / Black and previously the property for many years of respected collector Andrew Booth Esq, among whose cars it was said to be his favourite, this stylish Alvis makes a warm and comfortable touring motor car. Fitted with such interesting features as a vee-windscreen with peaked roof and smoker's hatch, this rare survivor is accompanied by a current MoT certificate expiring on 30 May 2016.

Amilcar Type CC

Lot # 20 (Sale Order: 20 of 71)

- Charming example finished in cream / black- Comprehensively restored in France and imported to UK in 2014- 'Tourist Large' bodywork with bench seatOwing its name to the combination of the founders' names, Joseph Lamy and Emile Akar (although their first automobile was actually designed by one Edmond Moyet who worked for Citroen), Amilcar was the quintessential small French sportscar of the 1920s and, as with compatriot Light Car' Salmson, the St Denis then Boulogne-sur-Seine based constructor's light cars were an instant success but diversified into the heavier touring car market during the 1930s. Having eventually passed into Hotchkiss ownership, however, in 1937 the Amilcar name was applied to the 'Compound', but the model was not pursued. This example of the Amilcar Type CC was imported from France in 2014 by the vendor, and given its age related BF 7125 registration by the DVLA. He advises that based on his experience of re-commissioning it, the car appears to have covered a relatively small mileage, the threads and splines and brake joints being very little worn. It was meticulously restored in Frejus to a very high standard for its previous French owner, who used it in local Amilcar events. The hood is reported as being new and comfortable. Although the car was registered as 1926 by the French authorities and on the accompanying Swansea V5, the Type CC was discontinued in 1925, and the exact date of manufacture seems likely to have been in 1923. From 1923 the electric starter became an available option although this example is not so provided, but starts readily on the handle fitted. The Bodywork is the "Tourist Large" variety, also a 1923 option, with a single bench seat and slightly wider wings. It is said to drive very amenably, the clutch disengaging well, and taking up smoothly and without slippage. Offered with aforementioned V5 document, this charming Amilcar, finished in Cream/Black with Black interior, is offered for sale due to the owner downsizing.

Hotchkiss Monte Carlo 680 Decouvrable

Lot # 21 (Sale Order: 21 of 71)

- Rare and elegant Grande Routiere with usine 'Decouvrable' coachwork- 3-litre OHV straight-six engine, Cotal electromagnetic transmission- Never allowed to deteriorate to the point of needing restorationFurther Info:This supremely elegant two-door Decouvrable typifies the pre-war 'Grande Routiere' class of rapid, luxurious touring cars made by prime French manufacturers Delage, Delahaye, Talbot Lago and Hotchkiss. They were designed to make short shrift of the country's poplar-lined Routes Nationales and invariably featured straight-six engines of around 3-litres capacity coupled to Cotal electromagnetic manual transmissions. The sale car was constructed at the onset of war, when Hotchkiss rapidly ceased the manufacturer of motorcars in order to concentrate on munitions. It is likely that 'WXG 923' survived the conflict secreted in a company facility outside Auxerre, and was not sold to its first owner until 1947. He was a wealthy Lisbon-based industrialist, where the car has remained until recently, changing hands just three further times. The 680 Monte Carlo was powered by Hotchkiss's own 3016cc OHV straight-six engine, which drove through the aforementioned rapid and smooth changing four-speed Cotal manual gearbox. Unlike its major competitors, Hotchkiss tended to fashion its own coachwork and this model was one of its most exclusive, and therefore expensive, offerings. The principal benefit of the chic Decouvrable hood system was the additional rigidity afforded by integrating the window frames into the main bodywork. The vendor informs us that the car 'has benefited from having so few owners - all of them apparently wealthy enough to maintain it in good order. The engine is mechanically superb; the Cotal gearbox has been upgraded and operates exceptionally well; the bodywork is extremely sound and the entire motorcar was repainted in a soft shade of Old English White some ten years ago and the wool-lined hood retrimmed in Dark Blue mohair. The interior is delightful, with excellent, similarly-coloured leather trim and original wooden dashboard and door cappings'. The Hotchkiss rides on a matching set of barely used Avon crossply tyres and comes complete with colour-matched hood cover. A notably rare and exciting opportunity.

Ford Escort RS 1600 Evocation

Lot # 22 (Sale Order: 22 of 71)

- Past Winner of the CSCC's Swinging Sixties series and Valetta GP- AGRA 1760 BDA engine, Quaife straight-cut gearbox, baby Atlas axle- Cost an estimated ú50,000-plus to build, MSA logbookFurther Info:The Escort's motorsport career began in 1968 with the Twin Cam, which the company's competition department had ready to roll at the same time its standard siblings were finding their way onto the public roads. Arguably the most famous of all Twin Cams was the Gold and Red FVA-engined Alan Mann car with which Frank Gardner comfortably annexed the 1968 Championship British Saloon Car Championship. The subsequent Aveley-built Mexico, RS2000 and RS1600 models quickly built on the Twin Cam's platform of success, making the Escort one of the most successful competition cars of all time. The immaculate and reportedly very well-sorted RS1600 evocation on offer is described as a Ford Escort Mexico on its V5C, but is nothing remotely so tame, as can be gathered by its overtly muscular appearance and mightily impressive competition record, that includes:-Outright victory in the Classic Sports Car Club's Swinging Sixties series-Outright and class wins in the Valetta Grand Prix-Second place in the Valetta hillclimb eventIt comes as no surprise that an estimated ú50,000-plus was invested in the creation of this very fast Ford. At its heart is an AGRA-built 1760 BDA based on a brand new AX block. The dry sump engine features an all-steel bottom end and is fed by a pair 48DCOE Webers - the unit has been dynoed at 225bhp. It drives via a Quaife straight-cut gearbox to a baby Atlas axle with Gripper differential, positioned by and four-link suspension set-up. The Group A Minilite wheels are shod with fresh Yokohama tyres. Other salient items of specification include: Perspex windows, a bias pedal box for optimum braking, Safety Devices roll cage and plumbed-in fire extinguisher system. This winning package is finished in the iconic combination of Gold over Red and comes complete with MSA logbook and a myriad of bills and photographs.

- Driven round the Nurburgring by Walter Rohrl and Hans Stuck- Uprated 3.9 litre V8, 5-speed gearbox, brakes and suspension etc- Ideal trackday / fast road car and great valueFurther Info:The sale car is surely the only MGB to have circulated the N³rburgring in the hands of motorsport legends Walter R÷hrl and Hans Stuck, and carry their signatures.
