Item Description: Translate description
Early Southern stoneware jug, approximately 10 inches tall, featuring a rich, dark alkaline glaze with mottled drip patterning typical of 19th-century Southern U.S. pottery. The jug has a squat ovoid form with a rounded shoulder, short narrow neck, applied strap handle, and original cork stopper. The surface exhibits characteristic kiln effects, including glaze runs and speckling, adding to its folk art appeal. Unmarked but likely origin is Georgia or the Carolinas, mid-to-late 1800s. A fine, honest example of utilitarian Southern pottery with great surface and character.
