According to Browning's serial number production chart, this Superposed "Lightning" over/under shotgun was produced in Belgium in 1959. SPECS: Glossed walnut stock with deep cut outlined checkering/ fluted comb & round grip knob, engraved receiver with floral patterns & gold fill, gold plated trigger/guard & forearm release, 30" FULL/IMP MOD barrels, serrated vent-rib with dual white bead sights, tang safety/ barrel selector, dual ejectors, Browning brown rubber buttpad with black/ white spacers, 14" LOP and 2 3/4" chambers. CONDITION: This one-owner shotgun was used for trap shooting for over 60 years and is showing various surface wear, has nice shiny/ clean bores and appears to be in good working order. HISTORY: The Browning Superposed is a Belgian over/under shotgun that was produced from 1931 until 1986. The pre-World War II Superposed was offered in 12-gauge only with the exception of special orders. The 20-gauge version first became available in the 1949 catalog. Barrels ranged from 26.5" to 30" for the 12-gauge and 26.5" or 28" for the 20-gauge. The 1950s saw the introduction of various sub-models of the gun, such as Trap, Skeet & Hunting models. The 1960s saw the introduction of 28 gauge & 410 gauge models. Between 1970 and 1976, the cost of a Belgian-made Superposed more than doubled due to rising labor and manufacturing costs. This opened the door for Browning's less expensive alternative, the Citori, which was introduced in 1973, and produced at the Miroku, Japan, plant. Every Browning Superposed was produced and hand engraved in Belgium. Today, the Browning Superposed is commonly considered the best over/under shotgun design of the 20th century. SHIPPING - We offer free shipping anywhere within the continental US. All firearms must be sent to an FFL (or C&R if applicable) regardless of age or caliber. This includes antiques & muzzleloaders. PLEASE READ ALL TERMS BEFORE PARTICIPATING: There is no live crowd, no phone bidding, no left bids and we do not accept payment through the mail.
