This is a Norton Commando that was on loan to the National Motorcycle Museum in Anamosa, IA by the owner and builder, John Gregory. John raced bikes himself and was owner of Sunset Motors in Kenosha, WI. He rebuilt this bike that was found in an alley decades ago. It was master-crafted from wheels to chassis to forks: * Extra through studs were added to anchor the head that was milled .060" for a 9.5:1 compression ratio. *Camshaft is from Norris and he upped the Amal carbs to a 32mm. *Has Dyna ignition *Pipes were hand-made, 1.5" tubing and transmission is from an 850 Commando *Upgraded using Heim joints created by Erik Buell *Replacing the stock 19" wheels are 18s *Has an 850 Commando Swing Arm and John made his own rear sets. *The body is mostly Norton Production Racer replica and he used rear Koni shocks *Four-stroke twin engine - Type: overhead valves, two per cylinder *72HP and primary chain driven with 4-speed transmission and a wheel base of 57 inches He raced the Commando about ten times in 1998 and 1999. This bike is in Excellent condition. Period! Tires are 99% and engine turns over. This bike is potentially dry (prepped for display) be aware of this before purchasing. Please see photos.
