1987 Wellcraft 3200 St Tropez Boat

1987 WELLCRAFT, 3200 ST. TROPEZ SUMMARY OF EVENTS This summary is for informational purposes only. This is as much information as we can possibly gather regarding the 1987 Wellcraft (WELC2740L6873200) and is not intended to determine condition, seaworthiness, or required mechanical repairs needed. Overview On January 10, 2018, the watercraft sank approximately 5’, covering the dual Twin inboard v-drive engines and the Cuddy Cabin. The boat was immediately recovered by pumping out the water and repairing a valve leak. The vessel is now sea worthy and has been afloat since that day. Cause The owner filed an insurance claim and an investigation followed. The determination of the vessel submerging was determined to be a starboard engine fresh water valve being left open during the winterization procedure that allowed sea water into the sea strainer. On January 10th, Port of Peoria experienced a warm weather thaw, allowing water to leak into the engine compartment, submersing the vessel. It is noted that one engine experience valve failure, not both! A detailed report is available upon request. Insurance claim Due to a clause in the insurance policy, the claim was denied sighting improper winterization. The owner filed an appeal, arguing his procedures were followed and the boat was properly winterized, hence, the starboard valve must have been defective, not closing completely when turned to the closed position. Tragic turn of events June 20th, 2018, prior to the final determination of the insurance appeal, the owner suffered a fatal heart attach and passed away. At that point, Illinois State Credit Union became the sole owner of the boat, as-is, where-is! End result.
