This robust Ancient Bronze Spear Head comes from the Luristan region of the ancient Near East and dates to approximately 1800–1400 B.C. The weapon is heavily cast in copper alloy and features a broad blade with a pronounced central ridge that tapers into a defined point. The socketed base includes a rare hooked tang, which would have been lashed or secured to a wooden shaft (now lost to antiquity). Measuring 11.5 inches in length, the piece bears visible nicks and edge damage consistent with functional use, and is covered in a richly varied patina of greens and earthy browns acquired over millennia in the ground. Spear heads of this type were favored among the warrior classes of Iron Age Iran and the wider Zagros cultural sphere.
