Bentley introduced the Mk VI in 1946 and it was effectively an allnew car and it was the first Bentley with a steel body as standard Its chassis was quite advanced for the time with independent front suspension servo brakes a fourspeed gearbox and the very useful centralised chassis lubrication system The 4526cc straightsix engine which grew to 4566cc in 1951 gained a reputation for smoothness power and reliabilityChassis were supplied to independent coachbuilders Fourdoor Saloon twodoor saloon and drophead coupe models with bodies by external companies were listed by Bentley along with the Bentleybodied saloon Production ceased in 1952This car was dry stored for 30 years and was then taken out of storage in 2016 The car has just completed recommissioning the engine has had a full nut and bolt rebuild including pistons rings bearings full ignition system valves water pump hoses and drive belts and a new radiator The brakes have been completely rebuilt and a new battery and voltage regulator have been fittedThe vendor states that the bodywork and chassis are good undamaged straight and solid The paint work is not concours but good finished in Rolls Royce Scotts Pine Green The interior wood and leather are good with no damage with good patina finished in beige leather Everything works as it should the car starts on the button and drives very well with plenty of power The vendor has the original build records and the original sales invoice The car was delivered by train to the Scottish Motor Traction Company in Aberdeen where it was sold to Mr Andrew Fowler MB ChB FRCS of Aberdeen on 14th August 1950 for 2595 The car has had 3 former keepers registered and the mileage is believed to be genuine
