Overview of Christo
Wrapped Snoopy Dodhouse, Project for the Charles M. Schulz Museum, Santa Rosa....

Item Details

The long-time Bemis Center board member has been known for the work he produced with his wife Jeanne-Claude, until her death last year. As one of the contemporary art world's most celebrated collaborative teams, Christo and Jeanne-Claude are particularly well-known for their environmental installation art, such as the highly acclaimed The Gates in New York City's Central Park in 2005. Although their artwork is visually striking and often controversial due to its size and scale, the artists have repeatedly denied that their projects contain any deeper meaning. The purpose of their art, they contend, is simply to make the world a "more beautiful place" or to offer a new way of looking at an old landscape. Upcoming projects involve the wrapping of Colorado's Arkansas River and a large-scale piece entitled The Mastaba for the United Arab Emirates. BC Board Member
