This original set of six German WW2 Hitler Youth (Hitlerjugend) commemorative hostel badges offers a fascinating glimpse into the cultural infrastructure of the Third Reich’s youth movement. These colorful pin-back lapel tokens were often purchased by Hitler Youth members as souvenirs of their stay in designated youth hostels (Jugendherbergen) or during their participation in major organized events. Each badge is made from painted composite or pressed fiberboard material and features raised imagery and inscriptions referencing specific hostels or national events. This group includes the following: Reichssportwettkampf 1939 – Commemorating the National Sports Competition. Jugendburg Monschau (Eifel) – Depicts the historic youth castle hostel in the Eifel region. Reichssportwettkampf 1936 – Earlier National Sports Competition commemorative badge. Jugendherberge Baldur von Schirach – Named for the Hitler Youth leader, this badge reflects the regime’s glorification of party figures. Jugendhof Brunn i. Pom. – Youth camp located in Brunn, Pomerania (modern-day Poland). Jugendherbergsschiff Heim Godenwind – Rare badge for the floating youth hostel Heim Godenwind, a ship-based hostel concept used by Hitler Youth programs. These pieces are a unique representation of the extensive youth network operated by the Nazi regime to instill ideological unity and physical training. While small, each badge is rich in symbolic and historic value, appealing to collectors of WWII memorabilia, propaganda, and social history artifacts.
