Civilian version of the Colt M1892 revolver, also known as the "New Army", lacked military markings and was sold with hard rubber grips featuring either a prancing Colt or the word "COLT" in an oval, depending on the model. This revolver has the Rampant Colt in circle at the rear of the left frame. Civilian version, was produced in approximately 10,000 to 12,000 units after Colt skipped over the next 2,000 serial numbers and started offering it on the civilian market around serial number 10,000 in 1893. Original nickel finish confirmed by factory letter. 3" barrel with half moon" front sight, integral rear sight. Nice period mother of pearl grips with raised steers head on right panel, non shrouded ejector rod. Assembly number "7" stamped on inside frame, crane and cylinder release, 3 line address/patent dates, "Colt D.A. 38 on left barrel. Bore is very good/bright, action is smooth with tight lock-up, grips are overall very good with a couple of very minor chips out of the right panel, nickel finish is about 85% with minor flaking on the right frame, edge wear and some scattered light pin-prick pitting. Comes with factory letter stating the revolver was shipped on June 11, 1894 to Powell & Clement, Cincinnati, Ohio, one of a 3 gun shipment. Confirms the caliber, finish and serial number. Also comes with a vintage holster rig marked "G.S. Garcia Maker Elko, Nev" in a circle on belt, brown leather with full coverage cartridge loop, single loop holster with hand tooled floral designs, overall very good condition with no tears, intact stitching with no separations. About size 30-32. Marked the same as the belt but a little faint from wear. Barrel is good fit to holster except the barrel is short about 2". Markings are clear/readable.NRA Condition-Excellent as Antique Firearm.
