Item Details
Dragons Head Blunderbusses. This set of heavily carved ornately stocked dragons head blunderbusses are embellished with applied and inletted mother of pearl along with brass and silver wire work. They are a close set but not a matched pair. Both of them have real teeth inset in the mouth of the dragon with one having black glass eyes and a carved wooden tongue. The other has red glass eyes with the tongue base being the only portion that is present. The red eye dragon has six separations of scale lines under the mouth all sharing embellishment alternating material being used starting at the mouth with mother of pearl and silver tack, the next having just silver embellishment, then back to mother of pearl and so on until you get to the neck of the dragon or wrist of the stock where there are only scales present leading into the trigger guard, lock and lock retaining plate along with more mother of pearl inlay and elaborate wire work that unfortunately has started to separate. Both the lock plates and top of barrels show silver applied embellishments having brass trigger guards. The red eye has a brass scroll form retaining plate along with a brass grip cap and single ramrod pipe with no ramrod present. The left ear tip is absent. The hammer functions but it along with the rest of the lock are rusted to the point that the frizzen doesn't function. The black eye dragon has four separations of scale lines under the mouth all showing embellishment. The first is checkered with silver tacks moving toward the front of the firearm with only silver toned embellishments until you get to the head section itself where there is inletted mother of pearl as well as tacks. The individual cut scales have silver tone tacks applied to each scale. Leading into the neck of the dragon and wrist of the stock the brass wirework and inlaid mother of pearl is found throughout with some wire work being loose but not as much as on the red eye piece. The brass lock retaining plate is in the form of cannons and drum. The overall length is approximately 36". These are non-firing blunderbusses as there are no touch holes in the barrels. They are meant for decorative purposes only.

Wire transfers to be initiated by noon on May 17. (Buyer pays wire transfer fees). Any buyer may pay cash at pickup.
6% Pa Sales Tax will be charged unless items are shipped out of state or if you have a current Pa Sales Tax Exemption Form on file with us along with a copy of your Sales Tax License.

Gun grading is a subjective process, this guide is developed using a combination of NRA, Blue Book and The Standard Catalog, The “Percentage” System and current standard industry practice. Everyone has their own opinion, this guide will hopefully help us to communicate conditions to you clearly. NEW – Unused, same condition as Factory. 100%
USED But in Like New Condition – May have been slightly used, but shows no wear, perfect condition. Modern guns = 99-100%
EXCELLENT – May show slight use, no easily noticeable mars or defects, minimal bluing wear, mainly slight at edges and muzzle, few to no scratches. Modern Guns = 90-99%; Old Guns = 80-99%
VERY GOOD PLUS – Shows slight wear, only minor defects or dings and scratches. Nice looking bluing but worn at edges and muzzle.
Modern Guns = 85-90%; Old Guns 70-80%
VERY GOOD – Some wear on finish and operating surfaces, no corrosion, maybe some light freckling. Could have minor dents and scratches.
Modern Guns = 70-85%; Old Guns = 60-70%.
GOOD – Finish may be worn from use or carry, wearing on operating surfaces. Could have some pitting and light corrosion/freckling. Dings & scratches, but they should not interfere with function.
Modern Guns = 50-70%, Old Guns = 30-60%.
FAIR – Well worn finish or possibly none left at all. May have corrosion and pitting.
Modern Guns = 20-50%, Old Guns = 1-30%
POOR – Worn out or rusty, sold mainly for parts or repair.
