FRITZ VON GRAEVENITZ 1913 ANTIQUE AUSTRIA HUNGARY OFFICER BRONZE ON STAND. SIGNED AND DATED 1913. 14" TALL ON 5" DIAM. BASE.FAMOUS SCULPTOR AND WWI VETERAN.Fritz von Graevenitz (1892 - 1959) became an artist after his service as an officer in World War I. He was very much admired by Adolf Hitler who put him on a special list of "God-Gifted National Socialist" artists (Gottbegnadeten-Liste der nationalsozialistischen Künstler, created by Nazi Propaganda Minister Joseph Goebbels in 1944, it also included other artists such as Arno Breker, Josef Thorak, Leonhard Gall, Claus Bergen, Joseph Wackerle, Hermann Giesler, musicians Richard Strauss, Wilhelm Furtwängler and Herbert von Karajan, and actors Willy Fritsch, Hans Albers, etc.).Today the Fritz von Graevenitz Museum is run by the Fritz von Graevenitz Foundation in the city of Stuttgart.
