High Quality, private purchase service dress tunic of a highly decorated "Oberfeldwebel" (Master Sergeant) of the cavalry or reconnaissance troops. Soft wool blend, very pointed dark green collar, deeply turned French collars, all features of fine tailoring. Pleated pockets, sewn in shoulder boards, golden yellow waffenfarbe with complete NCO tress and two pips denoting rank. Beautiful hand-embroidered bullion thread breast eagle, totally intact. Collar litzen also has golden yellow waffenfarbe, with NCO tress edges. All buttons are maker marked and retain most of the original green paint, all original stitching including the medal loops. Tunic is lined with a green satin material, sword hanger with pocket slit, Tailors label (Alfred Bemmann of Gera.) The inside pocket has the owners name and unit, in script, so hard to make out, but reads L. Frick, Unit, and ends in "92". There are no visible moth nips, although there are some under the collar. The tunic has the Iron Cross 2nd class ribbon and the Winter Battle in the East 1941–42 Medal (Medaille Winterschlacht im Osten 1941/42), ribbon sewn in the second button hole. Attached to the left breast pocket on loops is the Iron Cross 1st Class, unmarked, original, the Wound Bade in silver, maker marked "107" in rectangle (Carl Wild, Hamburg) and the War Merit Cross with Swords, The medal is zinc alloy composition, retaining some spots of the silver finish. Fine detail The pin is marked with the LDO code of “4” in square. (Steinhauer & Luck.) There are loops above the pocket for small ribbon bar, which is empty. Consigner states he purchased this tunic many years ago at an estate sale with the medals attached and they are a perfect fit to the loops. One of the best conditioned German WW2 tunics weve had.
