Cased, early all matching Colt 1849 Pocket single action percussion revolver in .31 caliber with Mexico City connection. Manufactured 1852. Features a blued finish, 5" octagonal barrel, cone front sight notched rear sight on hammer, loading lever, non-fluted five shot cylinder with roll stamped stagecoach hold-up scene, Colts Patent and serial number, two line address "Address Saml Colt, New York City" on top barrel flat, "Colts Patent" on left frame. "H" is stamped on the left triggerguard. The backstrap is engraved in script "Ciudad De Mexico" (Mexico City). "3 with 5 pointed star" are stamped on the wedge, left barrel lug, right loading lever, face of cylinder, triggerguard and bottom of the backstrap. We could not find any reference to these markings, requires further research, perhaps a police Police/Military issued revolver. Matching serial number on barrel lug, frame, loading lever, triggerguard, backstrap, wedge, cylinder arbor and cylinder. Checkered hammer spur and varnished one piece walnut grip. Includes a period locking partitioned wood presentation case, maroon felt-lined interior, brass bullet mold for ball and conical bullets, marked "Colts patent" and stamped with a small "R", Colt powder flask, eagle and shield with crossed pistol design pocket flask from the mid 1850’s, arced banner at the base, reads “E. Pluribus. Unum.” Above the eagle are two rows of stars, 5 on the bottom and and 4 on top(there is separation on the sides), key, japanned tin of Eley Bros. percussion caps containing about half, label intact and a group of period oxidized ball & conical bullets. Revolver retains about 50% original blue, with holster/edge wear, minor scratches. Brass trigger guard and backstrap with also has about 50% of darkened silver plate finish with wear showing the brass. Traces of case color on the hammer. Action is crisp, bore is near excellent, very strong rifling, bright, no frosting or pitting and wood grip is fine. Markings are crisp/clear.NRA Condition-Very Good. Antique Firearm.
