This is a richly detailed fraternal ceremonial sword, likely associated with the Knights of Pythias or the Knights of Father Mathew (KFM), both prominent temperance and fraternal orders active during the period. The blade is etched on both sides with decorative scrollwork, and is personalized with the name “S. Don Sirkel” (or a similar variation; see images for clarification). The base of the blade is stamped “The Bloch Co., Cleveland, Ohio”, a known manufacturer of regalia and swords for U.S. fraternal organizations. The crossguard and pommel feature elaborate cast-metal designs, including a knight’s head motif on the grip and a linked chain guard. The accompanying brass scabbard is ornately decorated, featuring a moose emblem with the letters “FIO” (or a similar variation; see images for clarification) arranged in crest fashion, possibly referencing an internal lodge or symbolic affiliation. Both the sword and scabbard show age-appropriate patina but retain excellent detail and original construction. Swords like this were worn during lodge ceremonies, parades, and temperance rallies, and today serve as impressive collectibles at the crossroads of Masonic, temperance, and American fraternal history. A striking and historically rich piece that would make a distinguished addition to any collection. Dimensions: 37" total - ~28" blade length
