86.4.40 M1840 cavalry officer’s saber and scabbard. Sharkskin handle with brass hand guard and pommel. Floral patterns cast into hand guard and pommel. Steel blade with floral patterns etched into each side. Eagle with "E Pluribus Unum" on right side, and "U.S." on the left. "W. Clauberg Solingen" around figure in armor on left side ricasso. Steel scabbard with steel rings, ring mounts, and tip.
