This extraordinary medieval sword is a fully restored ground-find example dating to the High Middle Ages, circa 1000-1200 A.D., and fits the typology of an Oakeshott Type X blade with a Style H chamfered disc pommel and Style 6 straight crossguard. The sword retains its original core iron construction, now stabilized and treated with conservation wax.

It displays the archetypal straight, wide fuller running nearly the full length of the blade?an iconic form carried by crusading knights and early feudal warriors during the First through Third Crusades. Type X swords represent one of the most definitive sword types of the late Viking and early Crusader era. They were widely used across Western and Central Europe, often associated with knightly retinues, Norman cavalry, and Christian forces fighting in the Levant.

The H-style pommel?with chamfered edges?was designed for one-handed use, enabling powerful strikes while maintaining control with a shield. The flat crossguard provided balance and defense against opposing blades. This example, though ground-recovered, has been professionally conserved and structurally re-stabilized?allowing modern collectors to own a physical piece of medieval martial history. Complete, typologically attributable Crusader-era swords are exceptionally rare, especially with matching guard and pommel forms. A true centerpiece for any advanced collection of medieval arms.
