Rare One of a Kind Salvador Dali Complete Suite Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (12) H.C's Hand Signed in Pencil by Salvador Dali Provenance is available. Various definitions for H.C: HC - Hors Commerce Hors Commerce means 'out of trade' in English. HC's and AP's are very similar except HC's are only available directly from the artist. A HC is given as a gift to the artist for allowing the publisher to print their images. Of all the special prints, the HC's are the most valuable, since they are more rare. Hors Commerce (H.C.) Translated from French as "Not to sell," publishers use such impressions as exhibition copies, thereby preserving the numbered impressions from overexposure or rough handling. These proofs started to appear on the market as extensions of editions printed in the late 1960's. Hors de Commerce or words of similar import means prints in the edition which are so designated by the artist or printer with the intent of withholding the prints from sale in commerce at the time the edition is produced. Hors de Commerce or H/C Hors de Commerce (Not for trade) traditionally were the graphics pulled with the regular edition but marked by the artist for business use only. These graphics were used for entering shows, exhibits, samples, etc. Today, however, since people began to acquire and collect them, these graphics now generally find their way to the market place through regular channels and are sold.
