Excellent German / Germanic Nuremburg casket in strapped and paneled iron with painted decoration of period floral motifs, 17th century period. Original key lightly engraved. Floral motifs of tulips over a green background. Great miniaturized variations of Armada chests used for storing valuables and jewelry. Hinged lid with working lock assembly. Handles at either side. When opened the interior reveals a sealed iron interior with red pigment painted to the interior walls. Lid with exposed and engraved lock assembly with two forward locking drives. Painted to the interior of the lid with losses and oxidization typical for age and use. Size 4" L x 9" W x 4" H. Provenance: Ex-Southwest Collection, Ex-Private USA Collection
