By the 1950's in britain, peggy nesbit had already made a name for herself.... She was known as a world renowned doll maker. The interesting thing about the peggy nesbit collection is the costumes, as most of the dolls have identical looks, made with a hard plastic called styrene and mohair glued on. But peggy spent tons of time researching her costumes, and her buyers appreciated that and looked forward to the next surprise doll to come! They loved her dolls, embraced them, and they always appreciate as collectibles. So not surprising we have one of the popular "british traditional" series dolls to offer you (that is btw what the br stands for on her hang tag! ) this particular peggy nesbit doll is the pearly queen and here peggy is dressed in attire that was representative of what the queen of england would have been wearing during the mid-century. Black was a common color of authority and nobility, while decorations of diamonds (here sequins) abound the layered costume while always adding a bright scarf and hat colors to accent and be noticed. Doll collectors felt that peggy always had a knack for identifying and portraying the style whether it be current or historical, and any doll collector must agree a peggy nesbit doll is a great addition and compliment to collections. Again our seller nearly always bought dolls in pairs, thus we also have a smaller male doll from england to accompany peggy. Our english sailor is a 5. 5" cloth doll with a celluloid/paper mache type painted face. He has flirty eyes and sadly he did not come with a name tag, because i am fairly certain if he had we'd find he was from another beloved doll maker in england norah wellings. The flirty eyes, the overall look, and style.... But alas without the tag i cannot be certain. I can however acertain that the pair compliment eachother and represent this fine country very well together! (value $80-150)

After the auction is completed an email of your purchased items will be sent. Credit cards are required to register with Proxibid. A 5.5% Sales Tax applies to Wisc. Residents only or if items are picked up in Wis. by an out of State buyer . Full payment is required within 3 days upon the conclusion of sale. Accepted payment methods: cash, credit cards or approved personal checks. Any deficient checks or credit cards will be charged $100.00. If there has been no communication from the buyer within 3 days the charge card will be charged the full amount.
