Item Description: Translate description
Hand-thrown redware plate featuring a warm reddish-orange lead glaze with six sets of stylized yellow slip-trailed tulip or comma motifs around the well. The plate has a shallow profile with rolled rim and shows typical wear and patina from age and use. The reverse is unglazed and shows extensive smoke-darkening from traditional firing methods. A strong and classic example of early American folk pottery, likely Pennsylvania or Shenandoah Valley origin.
