This is an ancient Roman bronze votive hand mirror, likely dating to the 1st–3rd century A.D. The piece is cast in a round, disc-like form with concentric decorative bands featuring dotted and foliate motifs. Though now oxidized to a rich green patina, the mirror’s symbolic and artistic presence remains strong. The surface is pitted and darkened from centuries of burial, with a partial break visible along the edge, yet the detailing is still clearly visible and intact across most of the surface. The stand is included. Votive mirrors were often dedicated in temples or buried in ritual deposits, symbolizing reflection, protection, or divine favor. While some may have been functional, many were created solely for ceremonial or funerary purposes. This example serves as a powerful reminder of Roman daily life and religious expression, a rare, authentic object ideal for collectors of ancient artifacts and classical antiquity.
