Item Details
Sale Highlight - Pictured! rare style, beautiful material, perfectly flaked, famous collection!
The Little River type was named by Gregory Perino
for two caches he personally found in McCurtain Co.,
Oklahoma, and was one of Greg’s favorite point styles to collect. This rare type has a limited distribution range, and is primarily found in the Ouachita Mountains and the surrounding
areas in Oklahoma, Arkansas,Texas and Louisiana.
Made from beautiful semi-translucent Novaculite, the “Perino Little River” offered
here, has been on display at the Museum of Native American History in Bentonville,
Arkansas for over a decade. It resided in the personal collection of Greg Perino for
years before being acquired by the Museum of Native American History.
There is a small amount of restoration to a blade edge ding on one side near the tip.
The tip itself remains original. This large classic style basal notch knife measures just
under 5” and is featured in the Overstreet 15th. Edition on page 600.
This is a large, well flaked knife made from high quality material found in Southwest Arkansas from a famous
collection, which makes this a highly collectible and very desirable artifact. Deaccessioned by the Museum of Native American History, Bentonville, Arkansas.
