This Dreyse Model 1907 (7.65 mm Browning) .32 ACP semi-automatic pistol was produced in circa 1913-1917 (circa WWI) and is stamped "R.F.V. No.4309" which identifies it as being used, after WWI, by the REICHSFINANZ-VERWALTUNG - Reich Finance Administration - which was subordinate to the Reich Finance Ministry during the post-WWI German Weimar Republic. This pistol sports (3) Crown /N test proofs stamps on the left side. SPECS: Blued finish, flat-sided frame with integral slide & grooved top bridge, slanted front slide serrations, brown checkered Bakelite grips with RM&M monogram oval cartouche embossed on each side, 3.6" barrel, concealed hammer, lanyard rings and 7-round blued steel magazine. CONDITION: This pistol is in nice condition with some various light wear, has a sharp bore with some light pitting and appears to be in good working order. HISTORY: The Dreyse Model 1907 semi-automatic pistol was designed by Louis Schmeisser and produced from 1907 - 1915. It was named after Nikolaus von Dreyse, the designer and inventor of the Dreyse Needle Gun. The Waffenfabrik von Dreyse company was acquired by Rheinische Metallwaren & Maschinenfabrik Sommerda in 1901, although the Dreyse Model pistols were marketed under the Dreyse name. The pistol had an interesting feature for the time: when the gun was ready to fire, the firing pin projected through the back of the breech block serving as an early handgun-cocking indicator. The breech block is confined within a flat-sided frame with a bridge to carry the back sight and arrest the upper section of the slide. The recoil spring surrounds the barrel, enclosed in the frame and held by a collar engaging the front end of the slide through a spring catch. The Model 1907 was used during WWI by officers of the Austro-Hungarian Habsburg Empire and the Imperial German Army. In 1912, the pope's Swiss Guard acquired thirty of these pistols for use by officers and non-commissioned officers. During World War II, many of these pistols found their way into the hands of Norwegian resistance fighters. The Dreyse M1907 was never imported officially by contract into the United States; however, many were brought back by GIs following World War II. SHIPPING - We offer free shipping anywhere within the continental US. All firearms must be sent to an FFL (or C&R if applicable) regardless of age or caliber. This includes antiques & muzzleloaders. PLEASE READ ALL TERMS BEFORE PARTICIPATING: There is no live crowd, no phone bidding, no left bids and we do not accept payment through the mail.
